What It's Like to Be Flagged by the Feds:

Red flag laws are all over the news these days in the wake of the Uvalde shooting and the search for “common sense” gun laws. Red flag laws sound like an answer—simply put, somebody shows signs of erratic behavior, they get put on a list and are banned from buying guns. Simple, right? No, because nothing in life is ever simple, as RedState’s Brandon Morse points out. For one, people could use such laws for revenge on people they don’t like. Your neighbor’s dog keeps pooping on your lawn? Report him for erratic behavior, get him on a list, see if he ever gets off it. Hint: He probably won’t.

So! Would Pelosi and Biden actually be put on the list for "erratic" behavior if some "anonymous" (cough, cough) person (or millions of persons) called in on them? Or, would it be a case of RHIP (rank has its privileges)?

#2 All one has to do is make a call and drop name and say they fear for their safety. But payphones are pretty hard to find these days. Surely they wouldn't geotrack anyone for any reason as it is unreliable AF.

John Kerry, who is the U.S. special presidential envoy for climate, stated at a recent event at the University of Southern California that the country does not need to put more effort into drilling for oil and gas as energy costs continue to rise. The most obvious sign of the increase in energy costs has been at gas stations, where the national average now stands at $5.01 per gallon, but utility bills are also expected to increase this summer. Republicans in Congress have called for more domestic production to increase the supply of oil in order to reduce the cost.

Is disrespecting the flag anything more than political foolishness? The courts have ruled that flag burning is protected “speech.” It’s a free country, and you can say anything you want… unless it is hate speech, misgendering, using the wrong pronoun, or shooting off your mouth at a school board meeting. These may trigger the ire of the national security state. What about some free speech that celebrates freedom and our country’s flag? Flag Day is June 14, so instead of joining the professional sports world and taking a knee at games, adding an out-of-tune note to the strains of the national anthem,

US Attorney General Merrick Garland on Monday fired off an ominous warning to Trump and his advisors when a reporter asked him about the January 6 show trials. The January 6 Maoist show trials continued on Monday with Liz Cheney at the helm. A reporter asked Merrick Garland whether he has had a chance to watch the January 6 hearings and if he has learned anything that could be useful for the Justice Department’s work. “I am watching and I will be watching all of the hearings…and I can assure you that the January 6th prosecutors are watching all the hearings as well,” Garland said.

At the end of 2021, the Biden administration released its energy outlook forecast for 2022, and their predictions show just how little they understand about American energy and how utterly unprepared they were for the energy crisis Biden was creating. The U.S. Energy Information Administration — under the Department of Energy led by Secretary Jennifer Granholm — releases "short-term energy outlook" reports each month to provide information on liquid fuels and forecast their future trends. Their report issued December 7, 2021 — archived here — notes that the forecast "remains subject to heightened levels of uncertainty related to the ongoing recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic"

We keep saying it’s hard to go lower in the polls, but Joe Biden just keeps doing it. The only thing that he’s managed to achieve so far in office is hitting every record for how bad everything is. His Real Clear Politics average approval rating just hit another record low — it’s now at 39.3 percent approval. [Tweet] He’s also at the lowest point in most polls, including the Quinnipiac poll, which has him at 33 percent, with Americans spending more than $460 more a month because of it. A “red flag law” is something that, on the surface, seems like a common-sense idea. How often have we wondered why authorities hadn’t taken weapons away from someone who had clearly indicated that they were dangerous and intent on doing harm. Uvalde, Parkland, and Buffalo are just a few examples of mass shootings that could have been prevented if action had been taken against an individual clearly signaling their disturbed minds to those around them. However, once you start to notice the talk around red flag laws, you start to see the holes and flaws in the idea. It’s important to remember that a red flag law

The January 6th committee will hold its second major hearing on Monday. That followed a primetime production for the first one back on Thursday evening. What was actually learned during their big opener? The answer remains not much. They gave speeches, showed videos we’ve already seen, and once again brought a USCP officer in to give an emotional account of the violence that occurred. Yet, these hearings are not supposed to be a rehash of everything we already know, nor are they supposed to be about political grandstanding. Rather, they are supposed to connect the dots back to Donald Trump, with evidence of criminal liability

I watched that joke of a “hearing” on Thursday, the one about January 6th and the “threat to democracy” created by angry people with no focus or objective, some of whom chanted mean things. Needless to say, I was unmoved. Only 2 members spoke, Chair Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney, and neither of them really “spoke” at all, they read. Their eyes were glued to the teleprompter the way someone who can’t swim is glued to a raft in the deep end of a pool. There is more convicing line delivery in a 1970s porn movie than those 2 gave Thursday night.

The national gas average hit a new record of $5.00 a gallon this week, and it doesn’t look like prices are going to fall anytime soon. Americans are frustrated with President Joe Biden’s lies about the economy, and many believe he is at fault for their wallets shrinking. A new poll conducted by the Trafalgar Group found that over 53 percent of people “believe the Biden administration is intentionally letting gas prices rise to make Americans use less fossil fuels.” While 56 percent of voters agreed that the high fuel prices is Biden’s fault. Gas prices have nearly doubled since Biden took office just over a year ago

The Washington state Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that a person’s race, and law enforcement’s long history of discrimination against people of color, should be taken into account when determining the legality of police seizures. The court also clarified state law to say police have seized a person if an objective observer would conclude that the person was not free to leave or refuse a request. But, the court wrote, that “objective observer” must be aware that discrimination and biases “have resulted in disproportionate police contacts, investigative seizures, and uses of force against Black, Indigenous, and other people of color.”

President Joe Biden on Tuesday blamed Republicans and the Russian invasion of Ukraine for soaring US inflation, in a bid to deflect voter anger over his inability to keep prices down. Caterpillar Inc. said Tuesday it will move its global headquarters from Illinois to an existing divisional office in Irving, Texas, in the Dallas-Forth Worth area, in another blow to the Chicago area, which last month lost the Boeing Co. headquarters. The move is “in the best strategic interest of the company,” Chief Executive Jim Umpleby said in a statement. The heavy-machinery maker has had a presence in Texas since the 1960s, it said. Even with the move, Illinois has the largest concentration of Caterpillar employees anywhere in the world, the company said. The headquarters was historically in downstate Peoria, Ill.

On day 487 in office, President Joe Biden set a new record. He has the lowest approval rating of all presidents at this point in their presidencies since Gallup started tracking this in 1945. According to Gallup’s Presidential Job Approval Center, just 41% approve of the job Biden is doing. That’s worse than Gerald Ford, or Lyndon Johnson, or even Jimmy Carter on day 487. Much worse than Ronald Reagan, the Bushes, Bill Clinton, or Barack Obama. To add insult to his injury, Biden’s approval rating is now lower than Trump’s was at this point in Trump’s first term. Biden’s oh-so-presidential response to his cratering support: he is “seething.”

McConnell is the 11th Republican senator to announce support for the gun control measure which means the Democrats easily have enough votes to overcome the filibuster.
