DeSantis beats Trump in Western Conservative
Summit straw poll

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis edged out former President Donald Trump in a straw poll for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination at the Centennial Institute’s annual Western Conservative Summit over the weekend. Mr. DeSantis secured 71% approval from summit attendees, with Mr. Trump closely following at 67% approval. The poll was organized by the Colorado Christian University’s Centennial Institute, a conservative think tank that has hosted its marquee Western Conservative Summit in Colorado since 2010.(Snip)Attendees also ranked issues that they feel are most important. Education and parental tights ranked among the top concerns, at 77%. Energy independence and gun rights came in second and third in order of importance,

Comments:

I'd go for a Trump/DeSantis ticket, but this time around I want decisive action, not just talk that the GOP stonewalls and actions that an incoming Democrat will undo within a few weeks of taking office (like right now). Dissolve the Department of Education, which we did not "need" until President Jimmy created it (and which President Reagan did not close)? Disband or sharply curtail ATF, the DOE, the EPA? Let's hear it. Will we "lock her up" this time? Close the border for real, deport the illegals, reverse birthright citizenship instead of just talking about it. Can we have Steve Bannon back, and leave liberal Javanka (the fatal mistake) to work the cocktail party circuit?

Trump and DeSantis on the same ticket would probably be incredibly good. Perhaps DeSantis could cool down some of Trump's occasional impassioned comments, and together those two great brains would make some OUTSTANDING policy decisions. 024 Trump in 2024, then DeSantis in 2028, and 2032.....I'll love it if I live that long.

Not sure DeSantis would be keen to remain in DC for 12 years. We'll see though.

The establishment and fake news will push DeSantis in every poll, because they still fear President Trump. They probably think they could find an unknown charge to levy on DeSantis (another Russia etc.) and they want Florida Governor position back in their court. Our best bet is Trump DeSantis in 2024 as a strong ticket in both offices will seal confidence in MAGA with DeSantis there to crosscheck Trumps staff and cabinet appointments. Otherwise we may get another Pence.

Either is fine, and a double ticket is even better. I like Trump and know he has a record of good results. I also think he's a victim of colossal injustice that needs to be vindicated by voters. That said, DeSantis impresses me mightily, he has his fingers on the pulse of America, knows what to do, and won't drive Dems to crazed bonkitude with deep state plotting all sorts of insanity nonstop. He might target those toads which Trump should have done.

DeSantis is a great leader, and I will eventually vote for him for president. He is young, and has plenty of time to cap his career with the presidency. I don't want him to become president, then spend 30 years with nothing to do. Be Florida governor for a while, Trump can be president, then cap off your career with the presidency.

Trump doesn't care what anyone thinks of him. He says what he wants to say. The media hate it. That's exactly the reason we need him again. He doesn't pander to the media and couch his comments so they sound nice and pretty. I don't like some of his comments but that doesn't come into my voting decisions. Stop caring that he doesn't sound like like every run of the mill politician. We need more of that.

Do those of you who push for a Trump/DeSantis ticket ever think about his family situation, his commitment to the people of Florida and the political hazards of hitching one's career fate to that of Donald Trump, who could crash & burn in the general election or in a second term? Keep in mind that an aging Donald Trump will not be running against Biden, but some new face who may successfully play the "moderate" charade (say, Roy Cooper of N.C.?). And if Trump did manage to win a second term the Deep State would be there, ready and waiting for him. Trump/DeSantis ain't gonna happen. Poster # 5 has the right idea.

If there was anyone other than PDJT that I like it's Governor DeSantis. He's the gold standard in how a governor should run a state Republican or Democrat. He would make a great President (heck Plank from the late 90's cartoon Ed. Edd n Eddy would do a better job than the moron we have now). Back to President Donald John Trump (PDJT) he did a great job while my Commander-in-Chief and was robbed in 2020. He still has my full support and if the leftist fake news media doesn't like it then tough Schiff.

The Biden administration is about to give one of the biggest US technological breakthroughs of the 21st century to Russia and China—free of charge. That’s not the administration’s goal, of course. But it’s the inevitable result of a proposed deal that US negotiators recently struck in Geneva, Switzerland, at the World Trade Organization. The pact would effectively nullify intellectual-property protections on COVID-19 vaccines, including the next-generation mRNA shots from US companies Moderna and Pfizer. These mRNA platforms represent decades of research backed by billions of dollars in public and private investment. But if the WTO votes in favor at its summit starting June 12, our strategic
