As Russian troops tighten their grip on the strategic port town of Mariupol, their strategy is finally becoming clear. Russian military commander Rustam Minnekaev now says the second phase of President Vladimir Putin’s “special operation” is focused on establishing a “land corridor” from the Donbas all the way to Moldova, which would cut off the rest of Ukraine from the sea. “One of the tasks of the Russian army is to establish full control over the Donbas and southern Ukraine. This will provide a land corridor to the Crimea, as well as influence the vital objects of the Ukrainian economy

Failing at conquering Ukraine yet imagining taking over even more countries that they have no right to.

Consider the source. This is from the Daily Beast. More scare mongering to help the Soros backed and democrat supported Nazis in Ukraine. They have to support Ukraine or else the world might finally find out about all the corruption started in Ukraine by Obama's government beginning with Victoria Nuland spearheading the regime change in Ukraine. then came the US sponsored bio labs and the money laundering with the sons of Biden, Pelosi, Romney and Kerry. Many other atrocities also. MSM and our current politicians continue to lie that Ukraine is the victim in this and they want war with Russia to protect their own azzes.

We have bigger fish to fry right here in this country. We are just about to lose the Republic if we cannot crush this illegitimate Biden administration in November. Even at that, it is going to be dicey. I just cannot gin up outrage over what Russia is doing. I am sympathetic to the Ukrainian people, but there comes a time when we must right our own house and that time is now.

It's not the Ukrainian people who are at fault, it is their corrupt government. We of all countries should understand that a government can take actions against the will of the people. Most regime changes in recent history did not improve things but made them worse. I cite Venezuela, Iran, Afghanistan, Cuba. America "helped" in those changes like they did in Ukraine. We are no longer the good guys.

I’m no fan of the corruption in Ukraine, but it’s disappointing how people are so silly to swallow Russian propaganda—the same propaganda the Left uses in conservatives.
Ukraine has a few Nazis. The USA has a few Nazis. Russia actually has quite a lot. None of these countries are “Nazi”.
Nor is the new leader in Ukraine (who I guess is one of those new Jewish Nazis) a puppet of Soros. He’s a populist of an unknown variety who actually opposed the Soros-picked government. He’s an actor who is doing a surprisingly good job of leading his country. We know about that in the USA.
Does any of this think we should put one American soldier in harm’s way? Get in a shooting war? Do I appreciate the MSM emotional manipulation? Do I trust the MDM? NO!
But Russia is clearly the bad guy here and the idiots who repeat Russian propaganda on this site should take a pill.

I have decided the jig is up when it comes to phony reasons for practically all wars like Ukraine. Just had a conversation with a young man at the check-out counter at Home Depot. I was his only customer. I was paying for a sample can of white paint that cost $5.98 with 37 cents tax added on. I asked him "What do they do with all this tax money, anyway?" And he said, "Wars". I told him recently I had a conversation with a young person who asked me why people go to war, and I told the boy it was usually about the armament business - before, and the construction business - afterwards. We both agreed that no one in Ukraine wants this war. He said to me then, "Did you ever hear of Lockheed-Martin? They make billions off of all these wars."
Methinks the jig is up when the young no longer are buying what the legacy media and its pundits are trying to sell. They've heard it all before and seen the lousy results the young have to live with afterwards, while those who promote wars prosper. He told me that about 22 vets commit suicide every day. Then, he thanked me for having an intelligent conversation, and we wished each other a good day.
The young are not buying what some are attempting to sell them anymore.

Russia, long before it became the Soviet Union, always quested after a year round ice free port besides Murmansk and Vladivostok and now they will have the whole coast of Ukraine (if they can hold onto it, once they get it) which will make commerce and Soviet naval operations much easier for them via the Black Sea, a conduit to the Mediterranean

do you think after that Putin is going to go for Istanbul? The northern coast of the Black Sea would be more fun to have if he had Istanbul too, and it is another Tsarist project, and then he would have a better grip on Orthodoxy

One thing you can be sure of, the West intends to fight this war to last drop of Ukrainian blood. The devastatingly effective weapons NATO has provided Ukraine reinforces Russia's fear of NATO on their border. This is precisely why they invaded when diplomatic negotiations failed. No NATO, no war. Russia will throw everything they have into this conflict regardless of casualties.
In Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, we could and did walk away because it all happened far away from our borders, just a bad dream to be swept under the carpet. For Russia it's different. Starting out as an invasion to block to NATO which could have ended with a negotiated settlement and little bloodshed, the fight has become a war. Look back to WWII at fighting in the same region, millions perished, total devastation.
Once war starts it is impossible to sort out fact from fiction, reality from propaganda, the good from the bad and most of all who is the real winner.
Recall the famous line from the battle of Hue in Vietnam, "It was necessary to destroy the city in order to save it." Is Ukraine going to be another Hue?

Watch their movements daily...they are in desperate mode now...and will do anything for a win...can't imagine Zelinsky's army doesn't know the Russian plan and are prepared for the movement...so now I'm asking myself...why Kiev first...was it because they wanted control of the capitol and then could control all of Ukraine...has the plan changed to control of the Ukraine breadbasket and starving Europe into compliance...and to those who think Putin is finished ...what are you smoking?

Since we see Russia grabbing for the whole coast of the Black Sea - perhaps good to think about their long term efforts to take Istanbul and fights with Turkey. Let us remember that the Tsar was promised Istanbul by the Allies ii 1915 but did not get it because of the Revolution - the Government to whom it had been promised was gone and the new one had pulled out of the war. Also, Russia nearly got Istanbul in 1878 but were stopped by the British, when Disraeli sent the British Navy to the Dardanelles. That is is twice Istanbul has hovered within grasp of Russia recently. Going further back, Russia has fought eights wars with Turkey, ... and considering Putin thinks his country is a religious beacon to the world (rather than an ongoing scandal of the hugest proportion), I bet he dreams of getting the Patriarchate under his control. Russia thinks they are the Third Rome - the Tsars married into the family of the last Byzantine Emperor of Constantinople, so that proves it?! but it would be better to be running the actual Second Rome, Istanbul - - their claims from Moscow are kind of a stretch. So NATO better help Ukraine because Turkey is in Russia's sights - Putin would like to be running Istanbul and call himself the successor to Constantine.

I read a book about 10 years ago which stated that Russia was a long-term demographic nightmare. Any plans to recapture the baltic states or expand elsewhere would need to occur no later than 2025. After that, it would not have an army big enough to do so. In fact, its army would struggle to defend such a large landmass as Russia. I have since watched their demographics and see this scenario playing out.

Putin uses ROE by not hitting the cities unless the case presents itself like retreating armies and equipment backing into the streets like in Mariupol. Keeping the opposing side tied down while reducing its ability to hold the line is the present plan all the while liberating Donestk and Ludansk!
