We’ve been covering the continuing drama of Elon Musk’s effort to buy Twitter. Where we last left you in the saga was that the Twitter board announced that it was going to adopt a “poison pill” defense – a move trying to prevent him from acquiring more than 15 percent of the company. It’s designed to make the acquisition less attractive. Now, the problem with this move is that it’s denying the shareholders the gain they would have made from the sale, so is detrimental to their interests. Musk was offering to buy for a share price much higher than what the shares were currently priced.

Over many years of observing and investing, once a bid for a company is made, that company is in play. SOMEBODY will eventually get it. Sometimes there's a "White Knight" or the original bidder. But one thing is for sure, Twitter will be getting a new owner. Let's hope it is a person who will get rid of the censors, whether it be Musk or a real Conservative.

I feel like buying a few shares, and giving my proxy to Elon Musk. Doesn't seem fair that a board can install new rules with an offer on the table. Maybe they rejected the offer, and then installed their poison pill option to protect their group-think and narrative developer. I still don't buy the idea it's a private company and can do what they want when they are public, can only operate using the transmission lines that mostly need government approval to build/develop, and also need to buy their bandwidth from the Federal government.

I have read separately that in addition to the hostility to Elon's offer evidenced by that Saudi 'Prince',... something like 10% of the company is owned by, I think, Blackrock and Vanguard each.... and tools of the Deep State DO tend to flock together.

Musk never gives up. He wont give up on his Town Square dream. Whether Twitter is the basis for it or he will have to generate it from scratch, the Town Square will be constructed. Twitter BOD will rue the day they didn't take Elon up on his offer.

I tend to think that Musk wins this one. Not sure how it plays out, but I think he's about six times smarter than the drones on the Twits-in-Charge.

Oh, to be as privileged as a Black Lives Matter founder! Entitled former BLM leader Patrisse Cullors’ latest complaint is that standard financial disclosure forms are “triggering” and “unsafe.” You see, in a panic after the 2020 killing of George Floyd, corporate America dumped roughly $90 million on the national BLM group, which then used part of the windfall to quietly buy some premium real estate for its leaders’ enjoyment. New York magazine recently exposed BLM’s October 2020 purchase of a $5.8 million Studio City, Calif., mansion, reporting that Cullors rapidly denounced as a “racist and sexist” attack because . . . well, as best we can tell,

We stand here on the edge of tyranny… Elon Musk wants to buy Twitter. That, roughly speaking, has been the commentariat reaction in recent days as the world’s richest man has launched a takeover attempt of the social-media giant, citing his concerns about its censorious policies as his main motivation.Musk revealed last week that he had become Twitter’s largest shareholder, with a 9.2 per cent stake. Now he’s offered to buy the whole company for a cool $43 billion, a nice premium on its current worth. As it stands, Twitter’s board is resisting and America’s great and good have gone berserk.

Do a president’s words count, or not? If a president keeps making declarations that bear no relationship whatsoever to actual administration policy, he is at best irrelevant. But President Biden’s many verbal slip-ups and ad-libs can be expected to enrage Vladimir Putin and make him redouble his efforts when the United States should be exerting effort in the other direction, to encourage Putin to de-escalate.We’ve just learned that when President Biden called Vladimir Putin’s acts “genocide” the remark didn’t really count, any more than it counted when Biden called Putin “a war criminal,” (never mind, said his staff).

Biden Job Approval Down Most Among Younger Generations 7 replies

Joe Biden's recent job approval ratings, which are averaging 14 points lower than those early in his presidency, have declined far more among younger than older generations of Americans. In fact, Biden's job approval has changed relatively little among baby boomers and not at all among traditionalists. As a result, older Americans are now more likely to approve of the president than younger Americans are.(Snip)This analysis is based on aggregated Gallup poll data since Biden became president, dividing his presidency into three distinct periods defined by his average approval rating at the time. President Biden traveled to Iowa for the first time in his tenure on Tuesday to promote the new infrastructure law and unveil plans to tackle soaring gas prices, which include allowing ethanol-blended gasoline to be sold during the summer. The move should appeal to farmers in the corn-rich state. But despite the president’s belated attention to the state, Democrats have all but written off Iowa in their political future. The national party is weighing plans to abandon the state's famed first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses, even while it loses ground in pivotal congressional contests. In the latest embarrassment, the party’s leading Senate candidate, former Rep. Abby Finkenauer, was ruled ineligible

Of all the Democrats’ gestures of contemptuous indifference toward ordinary people, President Joe Biden’s 8.5% inflation rate is the most provocatively insouciant. Bidenflation, more than any of his many other culpable failures, will prompt voters to respond in November with a gut punch to the party’s solar plexus. One should not minimize the impact of other blows to public morale from outrages such as the cultural revolution against every traditional norm, the disgrace of U.S. capitulation to a ragtag army of medieval Afghan farmers, Biden’s abandonment of national sovereignty at the Mexican border, or the performative diktats of his tinpot COVID bureaucrats. All these contribute to our sour national mood.

President Biden and other Democrats are confronting a stark truth — they’re getting blamed for what’s bad in the economy and getting no credit for what’s good. The dynamic could spell electoral doom in November. The Democrats’ failure to get voters to recognize the upside of the economy is not for lack of trying. On Thursday, fresh data showed new unemployment claims at their lowest level since modern records began in 1968. The president responded with a statement in which he noted that almost 8 million jobs had been created since he took office — “more jobs created on average per month than under any other president in history,” he said.

The left-wing professional and political classes bequeathed a number of new protocols during the Trump derangement years. And it will be interesting to watch whether the Republicans abide by them in November should they take back the House and perhaps the Senate—and the presidency in 2024 as well. Will they follow the New Testament’s turn-the-other-cheek forbearance, or go for Old Testament style eye-for-an-eye retribution? What Are the New Rules? Will Republican magnanimity suffice to shame the Democrats to be more professional in the future? Or will t-t-for-tat deterrent reciprocity alone ensure a return to norms? Specifically, will Biden be impeached Trump-style, after losing the House in November?

It‘s now impossible to ignore our president’s cognitive decline. Public opinion polls indicate that most voters doubt his mental capacity to carry out his duties, and his public effusions confirm the accuracy of that assessment. Since his bizarre State of the Union address, Biden’s utterances have become less and less lucid and his few coherent statements are terrifying. He has called for regime change in a country with a huge nuclear arsenal and denounced its president as a war criminal. Yet the corporate media are generally sanguine about Biden’s verbal incontinence. Indeed, they have applauded it. So, what would frighten the Fourth Estate? Elon Musk on Twitter’s board of directors.

By Wednesday afternoon, another high-profile attendee — JAMAL SIMMONS, comms director to VP KAMALA HARRIS — revealed that he, too, tested positive. The New York Times published an op-ed Friday that proposes eliminating belief in God — as one of the holiest weekends of the year begins. Titled “In This Time of War, I Propose We Give Up God,” the article claims that God is responsible for “war and violence” and for “oppression and suffering,” and suggests that people stop teaching children about Him. Author Shalom Auslander, who is disillusioned about his upbringing in a religious Jewish community in New York, argues (original emphasis): God, it seems, paints with a wide brush. He paints with a roller. In Egypt, said our rabbi, he even killed first-born cattle.

It was boilerplate political stuff — blaming the supply chain problems on COVID-19, increased fuel prices on the Russians, and inflation wasn’t his fault. At the end of the speech, Biden’s eyes became a little glassy and he turned around slowly and extended his hand. Except there was no one there.
