Former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said she was denied entry to an upscale steakhouse due to her attire Friday. Ms. Bottoms tweeted that she should be able to wear “mall” attire because the Capital Grille restaurant she visited is located at the Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody, Georgia. “Asked if I could sit in the bar area and was told, ‘No.’. Rules are the rules, just wonder if the woman who came in immediately after me, who I did not see come back out, was also denied service,” she wrote. Ms. Bottoms’ clothing violated the restaurant’s dress code, according to its website. “For the comfort of all guests

Why not go for the Jennifer Beals/Flash Dance look with a torn sweatshirt and leg warmers?

Maybe try dressing in a manner that suggests you possess self-respect?

Capital Grill is a good steakhouse. It’s a once in a few years type of restaurant. If they have a dress code follow it. It’s not that hard

"Odd that a restaurant in a mall parking lot turns away customers in “mall” attire."
ya...Odd that a Church across the street from the beach doesn't welcome Thongs and string bikinis as well...

Probably a size XXXXXL posterior crammed into size XS leggings, the normal mall and shopping attire of the protected class. And I'm betting a paycheck that the woman she mentioned going in after her was not in the protected class, thus opening a racism claim!

Reminds me of the incident in 2004 when Ted Turner and his witch Jane Fonda walked into a steakhouse in Manhattan, Montana and supposedly weren't able to convince the owner, a Vietnam War vet, to seat them despite a long wait time despite who they were. As the old saying goes, "everybody has to put their pants on one leg at a time". Even the wealthy.

I work at a mall. Too many women wear leggings/etc who should never wear them. And/or wear them in a way that reveals too many secrets.

Leggings should not be worn by any woman over 25…and she had better have the legs of a prima ballerina.

Back in 2020 when Quid Pro Joe was looking for a black woman running mate Rock Bottom was one of the possibilities. Since she was beaten out by Heels Up imagaine how dumb she must be.

Even if you don't know who I am, can't you at least SEE that I am Black? I demand special attention, outside of your silly rules and your ''white'' dress code.

Number 11, the people heading for Saturday evening Mass down at the Jersey Shore can dress far too casually. I've heard it argued that the Lord doesn't care how one dresses but I would posit that being properly attired puts one in a respectful frame of mind and behavior, open to the messages of the service. The high end restaurant has a dress code to instill a memorable dining experience open to all comers who adhere to the rules of a private business.

Just because they make it in your size, doesn't mean you should wear it! Especially true with older heavier women and leggings.

I agree with#23. Speaking as an older fluffy woman, leggings on ladies our age and weight resemble a couple of bulldogs fighting in a Hefty bag!! Definitely NOT a pretty sight!!

As long as I can remember nicer restaurants had a dress code. It has nothing to do with race or gender.

Thank you, #22. I remember, many years ago, a priest making a statement about the way people dressed for mass. He asked the congregation what they would wear if invited to dine at the White House and then pointed out to them that they were “dining” in God’s house, on the body and blood of Christ. If it had not been inappropriate, I would have stood up and cheered.

Agree with #25. Our local country club has always had a dress code for the dining room on weekends. It makes for a nicer atmosphere and makes dining out more special.

Ha! Why do big women (she has become one) whose names fit their physiques wear leggings? This restaurant had a dress code. She tried to power around it. Didn’t work. Good for them. Who wants pork butt with their steak dinner?
