A brave Massachusetts teen girl was able to scare away an intruder who broke into her house while she was alone with her sister with a pair of steak knives. On Friday morning, 58-year-old Joseph Ridge broke into the Middleborough home of 14-year-old Avery Cormie while she and her 12-year-old sister were home alone sleeping, according to Middleborough Police. Avery was awoken by Ridge as he allegedly attempted to burglarize the home and she bravely confronted him with two steak knives, she told WCVB.com After that Ridge fled the home and Avery recorded his truck as he backed away from the driveway.

Too bad he didn't leave with knives embedded in his chest.

Well done. My children have had it drilled into them that they are their own FIRST and LAST lines of defense, and to not let anyone convince them to hesitate for a moment or to question that fact. In between those lines come, parents, police, authorities, military, et. al. But what is facing you, and when all else has failed you... It's YOU. My teenage girl has a beautiful, elegant, and razor-sharp rapier hanging near her bed... and her ability to weld it is even more so on all three accounts. My boy... well, a bear wouldn't want to wander into his room uninvited, (he wakes up grump).

What I learned from this article:
1) violent girl needs therapy in prison
2) is violent because denied trans gender affirming care. No trans child has ever attacked someone with a knife
3) knives should be licensed and registers and banned for those under 21
4) this poor man is a victim. We must pay for his gender affirmative care immediately
5) the parents of this psychotic girl should be arrested and the other younger sister taken away and immediately transitioned
6) the victim needs a few million tax dollars to help him feel better
I think that covers it!

Notice the charge is breaking and entering into an occupied dwelling during the DAYTIME...which is a lesser charge than doing it during the night.
"Protests/Riots" should be treated the same.
2 other things:
Not likely it was a random choice of homes, guy is a "Career Professional" must have chosen that one for a reason.
People commenting she should have had a gun and shot him. Have not ever killed anyone, even justifiably. A body is a heavy burden to carry for the rest of your life.

Way to go #3, you just gave some liberal, sleazy defense lawyer a ton of ideas to get this scum back out on the streets. A looney Massachusetts jury will see to it.

#7, #3 perhaps describes how this would play out in Merrie Old England, which is just a bit ahead of Trans America on the slippery slope. Criminals are victims, especially when victims defend themselves, and the only cure for perceived social wrongs is more Marxism.

Pistols take practice to shoot well. A duty sized (Glock 17, 22, 31) or compact (Glock 19, 23, 32) or its equivalents from HK, S&W, Sig Sauer, FN, Ruger, etc., is a fine self defense weapon for someone who knows how to run the gun, and has practiced sufficiently with it. Maybe I'd better say this sotto voce, but there is an effective home weapon, a firearm, with very light recoil and maximum effectiveness, that children in their early teens could easily be taught to use, and it's much easier to handle than a Glock 19. It's an AR-15: not an assault rifle because it doesn't have a selector switch that turns it from semiautomatic to fully automatic, like an M-16 or M-4.
Locally, a woman who was 8-months pregnant was resting in bed one fall evening when two home invaders with pistols broke into the house and began demanding money from the husband. One of them grabbed their 11-year-old daughter and threatened her while the other pistol whipped the husband brutally, fracturing the orbital bone in his eye socket, breaking his skull, and ripping his scalp. The wife, waking up after hearing the commotion, looked out of the bedroom and was very nearly shot by the intruder holding her daughter. Ducking back inside her bedroom, she grabbed the family AR-15 leaning against the wall, and pulled back the charging handle, chambering a round. Then she waited out of sight until the [bastage] appeared in front of her sights, and "clipped him" (according to her husband, in a television interview) somewhere in his thorax. He did not like it! An AR-15 not only can put out a 55gr bullet (M-193 Lake City) at 3250 fps, but is also quite loud, 165 decibels loud. Two bad guys instantly fled. One disappeared into the night, probably uninterested in returning to the same (Lithia-Pinecrest) neighborhood, where scary loud noises could happen and criminals could just drop dead. The home invader who was shot by the mother--BTW, her child was born healthy the next month--made it 200 feet outside before the "AR did its thing" (husband again). The cops recovered his body in a ditch 200 feet away. He died rapidly of massive internal injury, c/o Mom. You pays your money....

Like most lib states, he will get 6 mos in light security prison and an apology from the state. He will then sue the girl and her family for stopping his redistribution of wealth. Oh wait, he is white. Nevermind

It is hard to believe a sentence that uses the word ''awoken'' since it is like ''woke'' and either a made up invention or used by usually poorly educated people. Needless to say, this 14 year old girl is a treasure. Whoever let the perpetrator out early should finish the rest of that perp's sentence. In the dark, in the cold and in his skivvies!

#12 reminded me of G. Gordon Liddy's favorite (and legal for him) class of weapons, which was cutlery. (After Liddy's Watergate conviction, Mrs. Liddy inherited a large collection of guns.) But Gordon said that with a knife, one had no cylinder or magazine capacity to worry about. The dagger was unlimited in its lethal potential, and it certainly beats the jawbone of an ass every time. Well, we use whatever we have. So a long, stout, razor sharp butcher knife is a great self defense weapon, if it comes to that. Better still is the iconic American KA-Bar combat knife since 1942, or the British Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife (used since 1941 by the SAS, or the British Special Air Service) for Nazi "sentry removal").
Incidentally, if you live in Florida and have a concealed firearm license, you may legally carry a switchblade. Mine is a Mtn Forged OTF (out the front) with an extremely powerful spring. It's the backup for my gun. Makes me smile a little smile when I'm carrying them both. Totally legal for law abiding adults because they are going to use it only for self defense.

Re #13. All knives were "deregulated" in Kansas a few years back, maybe 10 or12 years. You can legally carry any knife that you desire. I used an automatic for a few years for my standard pocket carry, but found that the pushbutton would get accidentally activated all too often in my pocket and went back to my Benchmade thumb actived knife. Quick enough.
If you want to carry your KaBar on your belt - perfectly legal in Kansas, and no local laws are permitted to be more restrictive than state laws on weapons.
As to "no ammunition limits" of a knife.... a friend once said something about you just don't want to be fighting someone with a knife who is "stabbing you like a sewing machine". Yikes, that phrase lefts a nasty idea of why various swords and knives are still likely the "leaders in the club house" on the All time human history hit parade of what weapons has put the most people in the ground.
