Texas Governor Greg Abbott is plotting a White House run—and his new policy of bussing illegal immigrants to DC is part of his plan to woo GOP voters, analysts believe. Gov. Abbott was praised by fellow Republicans after he sent two buses full of Latin American asylum applicants to the U.S. Capitol last week. He has vowed to continue to do so as border states brace for a huge influx of migrants from next month when President Biden brings a Trump-era law that guaranteed immediate expulsion to an end. Party insiders allege Abbott's 'audacious' response to the border crisis is a first step towards a presidential bid,

If you really want to do something about the porous border, send the Texas National Guard and close the border to everyone except Trucks and US Citizens. If you don't have enough Guardsmen, ask surrounding states for help.

He's a typical Texas governor in a line that includes Dubya. In two years as a Texas resident, I'm not impressed... #2 is exactly spot on. The border is his sideshow stage. And he's not the only act performing.
On the border, he proudly and humbly says. He assures us, and he means it- Now, who says he doesn't speak out as plain as day? He's for progress and the flag - long may it fly. Just a poor boy, come to greatness. So, it follows that he cannot tell a lie.
Charles Durning did it better.

I will defer to my Texas LDotters. But he strikes me as “all hat and no cattle.”
LOTS of talk (w cameras), but precious little action. Too bad.

The TX to DC shuffle appears to be mostly theater. The busload of illegals that I saw volunteered to go to DC and were met by family or friends in the DC area; indicating the whole thing was probably coordinated with one of the nonprofits already shuffling illegals around the country. How is that different from what Biden is doing??

Abbott is not a doer like DeSantis. I would sit out the election if he was on the ballot.
Still scratching my head why Trump endorsed Abbott over West. I guess it's like Trump endorsing Oz in Pennsylvania. Most in PA are saying they will not vote for Oz and wished Trump stayed out of the race in PA.

Why would Abbot want to follow the busloads of vagrants into the DC hell hole?
Lets have a national referendum to change the capitol. The new Capitol would only have government offices. All living space would be in surrounding communities. No one allowed permanent residence, there. DC can become a theme park. It's the mirror of Disney's ideology, these days, but with the pols gone, maybe it can revert back to historical values?
Or maybe I'm dreaming...

Not one person who has been schooled by Klaus Schwab should be involved in American politics, much less the white house. The buses to D.C. are a gimmick. This is why the Texas border is wide open.

What a stupid idea! How about we build a cattle pen right at the border and hold them till they decide to turn around and go back to their hellholes in Mexico instead of giving them a ride hundreds of miles to DC and elsewhere in OUR country?

There is only one real choice for the next twelve years after this 'administration'. Four years of Trump/DeSantis followed by eight years of DeSantis/Don Jr. Everyone else should simply stand aside if they love this country.

There are some really dumb republicans who think Abbot is presidential material when the state of Texas is near drowning in illegals. This is a clever stunt but hardly makes Abbot much more than a clown.

Before you get too excited about the Governor of Texas, please learn a little bit about his/her powers under the Texas Constitution. The Lt. Governor is where the power lies. The Texas Constitution limits the governor's powers.

Maybe Governor Greg Abbott's motive is quite simply that it is the right thing to do. He is, desperately, trying to send a message to our politicians in the nation's Capitol of Washington, D.C. that, "You would not like your hometown flooded with invaders". What the author of this U.K. publication should instead have done is to question the motivations of these politicians in D.C. as to why they are so comfortable with an invasion of millions of people into hometowns other than their own.
So many things are collapsing in this country with the PRESENT population - never mind with the addition of millions more expected to be walking across our open southern border beginning in May; for example: our school systems (how many children are graduating our schools barely literate?) , our over-extended hospital care for all ages, our barely maintained bridges and roads, our aging water supply systems, our national debt, inflated prices for energy and food, our care for the elderly, our care for the young and the handicapped and disabled, our homeless population, the suicide rate among our veterans, our exploding crime problems, barely-there mental health care for all ages, the horrendous drug problems in this country exacerbated by our open southern border, the problems of trafficking of women and children across our southern border (and Catholic Charities and the Lutheran Church Services who are a major part of this problem should hang their heads in shame and proceed to end their participation in the problem) and on and on. These are not problems that can be wished away. Someone has to focus on them and eradicate them. These politicians in D.C. have no love for the citizens of our country. They do not serve the people anymore (except for the few who have little leverage because there are so few).
Talk about Annihilation of our Nation, and these self-serving politicians will be responsible.

This Texan says this article is hot air and off target. Abbot's not running for President...and although he's not the "governor of my dreams (read: DeSantis) he has done a pretty good job considering what this idiot administration has thrown at Texas. All you have to do is imagine Robert O'Rourke in the job and you will know what I mean.

Abbott is nothing more than a weak Dubya. His efforts are staged for show. Upon
an intensive search, you'll not find gravitas in any form. He MIGHT be a bit better than
most GOPe, but he is NOT MAGA material.

I've always wondered why he didn't just send in the national guard and finish the wall...I think it was a good political move to upset conservatives and he didn't want to stop the upset...not happy about the 16 month delay in action...but I think he had a plan...and perhaps it's because he wants a run for president....it amazes me that any republican would consider stepping on President Trumps toes...the slot is his...if he wants it....WE the people love President Trump and will never desert him....MAGA!!

Where is the evidence to back up this claim??
Sounds like some of his opponent’s claims during the Primary being recycled through the Beavis O’Dork campaign.
All rumor, speculation, fake news reporting purporting to be a valid “news item”, nothing more.
Shades of Lt. Col Allen B. West and Don Huffines chicanery… they lost the primary only getting 12 and 8 percent respectively

This clown talks a big game but is all mouth and no action. Sending a couple of busloads of illegals into D.C. is like pouring a glass filled with fresh water into the ocean and stating the ocean isn't as salty as it used to be. Is the wall being built like he said he was going to do? Did he send the Texas national guard to the border to turn back the flood of illegals like he said he was going to do?

A cheap political stunt instead of real action, as he vowed to take in his widely acclaimed June 1, 2021 disaster declaration along Texas' southern border in response to the border crisis? Perfect for the Republican base. Wear a cowboy hat and talk big about states rights and federal overreach by them boys up in DC, then prove your Agency bona fides by doing nothing at all when 95% of the nation would have your back.
