If you think pierced mutants with blue hair and gender confusion have some sort of right to leverage their position as public school teachers to groom your kids with racist Marxism and sexual confusion, you hate democracy. Schools were not established so that narcissistic stange-os with galaxy-sized daddy issues could work out their personal psychodramas using our children’s minds as props. They were established to teach our kids to read, write, do some math, and be useful citizens. And that’s what we, the People, want.
And we, the People, get to make the decision about what gets taught in our classrooms. The emphasis is on “our classrooms,”

As much as I love Kurt, he is so wrong! We don't need to defend American democracy, darnit! We are NOT a democracy. We are republic, on purpose, and until the American people from the top to the bottom return to the proper style of government the United States of America is, we will not be able to return the United States Constitution's purpose...it is designed to provide a REPUBLIC...a representative republic. We need to teach the truth...the USA is a republic. We need to teach the history of the Constitution, the terms used and why! Stop with the democracy crap. We are not a democracy!

The leaders of the public schools are so afraid of the libs they crush under the pressure of their demands. Same thing with the police. They are so afraid of the libs they are incarcerating the conservatives. Yet it is the conservatives that give them support. They should be ashamed.

We might have a republic, But it is based on Democratic values of individual liberty, equality before justice and consent of the governed. I think that is what Schlichter means. BTW, I agree with everything else #1 says.

#1, that is one of my pet peeves as well. But I think that it also depends on just who is using the word. Kurt obviously means traditional American values when he speaks of democracy. When the left speaks of democracy, they mean democrat party power.

I agree with Kurt’s solution. It makes sense, common sense and gets the weird out of the classroom. Oh, the woke teachers will put up a huge fuss, but they either comply or they are out. I also like the idea of a dress code. Sometimes you can’t tell the teachers from the students and that is not good. We see far too much weird and not enough teachers appropriately dressed. Kids are not dumb and they know the “cool teachers” are the ones with the purple hair and rose rings. Red flag! When you see that, expect indoctrination because as was mentioned in the article, they come out of college prepped to do that.
We also must stop adopting whatever trendy curriculum that comes down the pike. We must agree on what is taught and how it is taught. Ask any parent and they want their children educated and ready to face the world.
I am old enough to remember when male teachers wore suits and ties. The women wore high heels and dresses. That slowly changed by the time I went to high school, but looking back, I appreciated the effort they took to look professional. We are so casual in society and I honestly believe that has made us sloppy thinkers and dressers. I can’t believe the garb people wear to church let alone to their jobs.
It is going to be a heavy lift to pull education back from the brink, but it can be done if parents get involved. There are more traditional leaning parents than there are looney tune liberals. We just have to find our voice and then use it.

To crush the weirdos, you have to crush the weirdo principals that hired them. This stuff starts and is permitted from the top down.

I just forwarded this to a friend in Florida who’s a retired public school teacher. She always hated teachers’ unions and she’s a big Schlichter fan.

I was a school board member for 10 years. I did not run for re-election because I realized that the problems were not fixable.

OP : dingdingding! Bingo! Their lesson plans were brought into our living rooms and blew their cover.
#1 yes we all know about republic v democracy. But "democracy" today simply means self ruling people. It's good to draw distinctions but I wouldn't get hung up on the word.
Democratically Elected Constitutional Republic is a mouthful. :-)

To add to Kurt's article, our kids had to endure "new math" whatever that was. Schools wouldn't teach basic math as it has been taught for generations...oh no, the teacher unions had to try something new and different and make it difficult for students to learn. Not just math, but destroying our history.
Here's an especially horrific sin of public schools for our family when we were in CA, eliminating CURSIVE WRITING! Now our youth cannot read our founding nation's documents (plus others) that are written in cursive!!!!
The Left who controls the govt. schools are not teaching any meaningful learning/thinking/reasoning skills because it is their way of dumbing down generations so the government can control them.
Dumbing down generations for evil purposes!
To find out how illiterate kids are today, watch some of Jesse Watters interviews with college kids (generation X) and see how dumb they are about American history, identifying a historic figure, identifying who the different leaders are in American politics. God forbid that the schools teach the 3 branches of government!

FTA:
I just love it when I see some mutated whiner on Tik Tok complaining that xe is not supposed to show videos if xis interpretative dance performance of “My Penis Confounds Me” to classrooms of second graders and how the mean old school board is cruelly repressing xis personal vision of a genderfluid future.
Can you imagine your manager showing you a video as mentioned above, at work, and someone not filing a lawsuit for sexual harassment, at a minimum?
Remember, the classroom is a public building, with publicly hired teachers, staff and administration, who are at WORK, their place of employment. Why aren't they being held to similar restrictions on what's acceptable to say and do at work just like any other employer?

I've upset a lot of people, because every year, Parishes (I'm in Louisiana), and the local towns, as well as my American Legion post, has to pick, showcase and reward a 'Teacher of the Year!' Every year, I ask the same question, "Who's the oil worker, plumber, fireman, druggist, etc. of the year?" But it's always a 'teacher of the year!' Our school board is constantly awarding 'stipends' to our teachers, because apparently, only our public school teachers & employees are suffering from the effects of bidenflation, but not the taxpayers that foot the bills. It makes you wonder why so many get teaching certificates for such a poor paying job.

I have absolutely no respect for any teacher that would teach children about trannies or Homosexuals or self abuse or CRT.
That is certainly no job for a public school teacher, and any teacher with an ounce of morality would refuse to teach it.

The gooberment saturated the education system with draft dodgers with their deferments in the 60's and 70's. Thanks to their eventual migration to the head office, the system has been forever skewed (and screwed). I graduated high school in 1965. My 6 year younger brother had a completely different environment. Go Kurt!

Sigh. The problems - and there are several -- go deeper and longer than many have mentioned.
Many MANY years ago, well before our Esteemed Hostess brought out this forum, I was reading the works of one Richard Mitchell. He bravely revealed the depths of idiocy and (concealed at the time) utter depravity in the Schools of Education at the colleges and universities around the land. It was there, in what he termed the teacher-training academies, that so many of these seeds of destruction were planted, encouraged, and then demanded. I urge those with access to look up his works and study them well. And then to reflect how such plants created seeds that grew into ever more noxious weeds. The group-think dynamics within those walls enforced even more of this junk that we are now seeing, but which has been incubating for quite a long time, decades in fact.
Now, reflect also the effects of teacher licensure. The goobermint agencies that permit persons to become classroom teachers, and often that includes in private charter schools, make it part of the mission to ensure that successful licensees have matriculated in these ivied dens of iniquity.
As a note, my late mother was a classroom teacher. So was my sister. And, for a while, my step-daughter. The latter was instructed, in a SEC college, that, among other things, she must NEVER issue a failing grade no matter how appropriate: it would reflect poorly upon the school district's state evaluation and rankings and also the reports to the (unconstitutional-to-exist) federal department of "education". So I for one in my career have often had to deal with high school graduates who Could Not READ! Nor am I alone.
You, and your neighbors, paid for this and continue to do so. And hear, daily, protestations that what the schools really need is more money. And power. And scope.
Richard Mitchell was correct I read his works 40 years ago,

One of the only positive things about the COVID epidemic was that it exposed America's parents to what was being taught to their children in public schools. Prior to COVID, most parents were too hands off or too busy with their own lives to pay proper attention. Now that has changed and the schools are dumbfounded by the pushback.
