Don’t you love a Sunday afternoon feel-good story about the Second Amendment?
A Dale County, Ala. man called the police a little after 6 a.m. on Wednesday to report that a person was trying to break into his home. [Tweet]
When police arrived, they found a broken window through which the thug had tried to enter. They also found the thug on the ground, weighing roughly 25 grams more than he did when he arrived, having been shot once in the head by the homeowner. The would-be intruder was transported to the hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.

25 grams? We don’t do metric here in Merica! How many grains was the slug? Or even ounces! GRAMS…Naw!

Owning a gun is fine, carrying one is better.

It should happen more often. More dead thugs the better.

When the thug sues you, you'll wish you had double-tapped. Of course, there's always his common-law wife, and illegitimate children. And if this had happened in New York...the govt itself.

A .45 ACP has a 230 grain bullet which converts to 14.9 grams. A 9mm Luger bullet is typically 115 grains or 7.45 grams.
Maybe he shot the perp more than once, but usually the projectile will exit taking matter with it. So, the corpse should be lighter than prior to the break-in.

But, #6, a head shot probably will retain the slug. And in this case, the intruder might be better off dead/

It was good that this happened in Alabama. He'd have been charged in many blue states.

All the statistics about gun violence trumpet how many were killed from gun shots. Does anyone report how many lives were saved because a gun or the threat of its use was involved? Never. Because it doesn't fit the narrative.

Just like Atticus Finch putting down the rabid dog, responsible men must do nasty work that benefits the whole of their community sometimes. Thank you sir.

All the while sawdust brain Joey is looking for 'ghost guns' the newest evil in the United States. When confronted by a liberal or a thug first ask them if they are 'groomers' since the perp was in the child's room. There was something in that house that the bungling burglar wanted really bad. Let's go Brandon.

I recommend an LTC for all. It is a very dangerous place out there. At age 70, I’ve hunted my entire life. The license to carry course was still helpful. It trains you to be on yellow alert at all times. If the thief is stealing my laptop or my catalytic converter, I’ll let him go. If he breaks into my house, I grab the home defense shotgun with turkey load. (4 shot) Even my wife can hit the purp. We will not become victims in a time where basic laws are not being upheld!

Annoyed writer's attempt to be clever faceplate.
Even a .22 projectile weighs more than that, grains-wise . And 25 grams is about 385 grains.
Nothing that big will leave the recipient weighing more than when he started .

Along the lines of post #13..estimates are that law abiding citizens defend themselves with firearms as many as 2,000,000 times a year. If only 1% of those incidents would have resulted in murder if not stopped, then these lawfully used firearms could be credited with saving 20,000 lives. And that 1% estimate would probably be on the low side.

Not likely to be accurate, #1. 25 grams is 385 grains, and there are very few guns that throw that heavy a bullet. And almost all that do use a 300+ grain bullet would certainly have exited the guy.
I think the writer just made this number up, and doesn't know much about bullets and grains and grams.
