Disney’s Business Model is Turning Kids

“Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children," Walt Disney once said. Walt’s unique strategy of building an entertainment empire for kids once made Disney a trusted source of family entertainment. That didn’t last long after Walt's death as Disney started releasing R-rated movies and adult television programming under the Touchstone label. A decade later, Disney bought Harvey Weinstein’s Miramax. During the 90s, while Disney's more family friendly brand was releasing animated cartoons, Miramax featured Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, and the Scream sequels. During this time Weinstein was accused of sexual harassment and assaults.(snip) In the new century the barrier between the two schizoid faces of Disney has come down.

Comments:

So, now it’s “Disney’s my name and perversion’s my game”… poor old Walt. A tough guy, he ran a very taut ship. A perfectionist who could be ugly about keeping his company’s product that way. No more. The inmates now run another asylum.

This article is an interesting and thought provoking analysis of Disney’s corporate motivation. Explains a lot. Explains the adults I know (usually women) who are almost fanatical about Disney and Disney memorabilia.

FTA: The company isn’t for kids, it’s for broken adults. We do know a few Boomers who frequently visit Disney World, trips with and without their adult children and grandchildren. But it's the Millennials we know who are truly obsessed with Disney, the "super hero" movies and the weird world of Star Wars. If they could have just one streaming service, they'd chose Disney+.

Oh no you don't. You aren't taking that ''Break the Spirit'' and then ''Break their Bankbook'' award away from Doctor Fauci and his Magic Ouchie just to let Disney bask in the filth that COVID-19 set up for everyone to step in.

Attorney General Merrick Garland’s swan song, we can presume, isn’t exactly turning out how he had hoped. Appointed attorney general in 2021 as some sort of retaliation against Republicans for refusing to seat him on the Supreme Court in 2016, Garland, though largely a figurehead, is getting heat from members of both political parties—including the man who nominated him to serve as the nation’s top lawyer. According to the New York Times, Joe Biden is displeased that Garland hasn’t yet charged the former president for crimes related to the Capitol protest on January 6, 2021.

A group of Democrat and Republican senators on April 7 introduced a bill that if passed would not allow President Joe Biden’s administration to end the Title 42 emergency border order unless the president declares an end to the COVID-19 national emergency declaration. Sens. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) and James Lankford (R-Okla.) are among the 11 senators behind the legislation. “The Biden administration was wrong to set an end date for Title 42 without a comprehensive plan in place. It’s why today we are introducing bipartisan legislation requiring this administration to implement a plan before lifting Title 42 that protects the public health and safety of our border communities and migrants.

Special Counsel John Durham’s team on April 6 asked a federal judge to force Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and two other parties to hand over documents they claim are protected by attorney-client privilege. The campaign, the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and Fusion GPS appear to be withholding documents that aren’t actually protected by the privilege, Durham’s team said in the filing, entered in the case against ex-Clinton lawyer Michael Sussmann. Of the withheld materials, almost all “appear to lack any connection to actual or expected litigation or the provision of legal advice,” prosecutors told U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, an Obama appointee who is overseeing the case.

Liberal media has finally been forced to admit the truth of the Hunter Biden laptop. But some are still holding out, with the new talking point from some of the media being that there’s no evidence involving Joe Biden. That excuse is false as there is all kinds of information that involved Joe Biden, including pictures and emails of him meeting with Hunter’s business partners. But that excuse may be getting blown up in a very important place — the grand jury investigating Hunter Biden, according to the NY Post. They are reporting that the grand jury asked a witness to identify who “the big guy” was with a Chinese

Not when the Republican Party consists of “vulgar” populists and “infantile” nationalists who loathe free trade, free speech, the U.S. military, and libertarians.

Donald Trump held a rally in North Carolina on Saturday night, but it wasn’t the normal theatrics and hilarity that the former president delivers that made the biggest impression. Rather, it was an endorsement that seems to have come out of nowhere, and I’ll go so far as to say it may be his worst ever (yes, worse than Morgan Ortega) — at least as a Republican politician. Honestly, I know some people take umbrage with anyone ever questioning Trump’s decision-making, but this is truly a head-scratching moment. I’m not sure offering endorsements to people based on them being on TV for a long time is the best strategy.

Last week Cook Political Report posted an analysis of the House midterm election which said “Both sides see the possibility of a Red Tsunami in 2022.” But the rest of the Cook piece argued that because of redistricting changes 2022 can’t possibly equal a tsunami like the one in 1994 when Republicans won 54 seats. There are simply not as many competitive seats in the House as there used to be. So the author ultimately predicted a more modest wave: Every metric we use to analyze the political environment — the president’s approval rating, the mood of the electorate, the enthusiasm gap — all point to huge gains

If Putin was afraid of being surrounded before, he should take a quick look at his map now (just a reminder that Japan and Russia still have an unresolved border dispute, see Russia conducts military exercises in disputed islands).  As if to validate the stereotype of the Germans being
