(Updated with more details) Just hours before Chris Rock is set to take the stage in Boston tonight, Will Smith’s fate from the actor’s rage-filled slap of the comic at Sunday’s Oscars is now resting in his own hands after a meeting by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Board of Governors this afternoon.
“Consistent with the Academy’s Standards of Conduct, as well as California law, Mr. Smith is being provided at least 15 days’ notice of a vote regarding his violations and sanctions, and the opportunity to be heard beforehand by means of a written response” said the Academy today of the “disciplinary proceedings” it has begun

OK, I am going to say the quiet part out loud. Maybe now you can understand why there is so much black on black crime. Emotional, over reaction to a situation that did not require such action. If a Hollywood actor punches a well known comedian on tv in front of millions . . . you get the picture. I work in a large public school and see this behavior more often than I care to. Don't get me wrong. Every kid of every color or creed can over react and lash out. But our black students tend to over react in a physical way over nothing. They do not hold back. Perhaps they are simply reacting to what they see in their home lives.

Anything less than having him give up his silly statue to someone more deserving, and he’s gotten away with it.

Americans are far more interested in utterly worthless celebrities and their staged antics than they are about having a senile criminal posing as president and trying to incite a nuclear war, or about the republic going down in flames through unimaginable corruption.

The Academy knows if they don’t land on Smith with both feet, the Academy Awards - and, with it, the motion picture industry - is finished.

#5 it's already a dying industry. how many more spiderman, superman, batman movies can they come out with? Because of the cancel culture they've canceled themselves from comedy, war movies. I got and how about another anti-gun liberal playing a gun-toting hero? (Kannu Reeves excluded). It's been years since I set foot in a movie theater - and I could probably say a decade.

If the audience thought this was not fake, the stage would have looked like Popeye's on a Friday night.

I can’t believe that this little bit of (probably) staged Kabuki Theater is still in the news. People are carrying on as if Will and Chris both set off bomb belts at the event, or pulled out MAC 10s and blasted the attendees with submachinegun fire.
And Wanda Sykes is beyond ludicrous “Still Traumatized” by a little girly slap, not even a manly punch, which she happened to see from some distance; It didn’t happen to her, and by now, most people would have ‘shaken it off’ by now if it was them that got a girly slap.

Can we move on from this? Will has his intended uber-publicity as well has his quasi-wife. Will Smith is a black man who portrayed a black man in a movie. Big freak'n deal!

Face it - the only reason there's a question of how to punich Will Smith is because the Academy knows it should yank his oscar, but they're scared snotless of taking an oscar away from a minority.

The whole Smith clan are a collection of self important nothings. I hope he get barred from future awards and gets no more movie offers...his assault was inexcusable and a particularly poor example to children.

FTA: Mr. Smith’s actions at the 94th Oscars were a deeply shocking, traumatic event to witness in-person and on television.
You can dress them up in tuxedos but that doesn't make them civilized.
Chances are that more people witnessed this childish act in person than did television viewers. Smith should have been thrown out immediately by security and charges filed by the people who run this circus. I hope nobody watches Men in Black VII.

Black slapping could become a fad. Will Smith can do whatever he pleases because he's a big, pompous, rich, and arrogant superstar.

Still say that this was planned and staged.
Smith has how any millions ?? And they just might take away his little statue.
Oh the horrors. What will I ever do ??
Spare me. There will be no 'punishment' or any other 'correction(s)'.
This was just to get attention. Nothing more.
And if I'm wrong, frankly I could not care less what happens at 'the Oscars'.
Bunch of preening cue card readers or line memorizers trying to be a mutual admiration society
and, in the end, being paid almost obscene amounts of money to produce NOTHING of any true value !

Coincidence?
Pfizer is creator of the most popular alopecia drug.
Pfizer is the sponser of the Oscars.
Everybody involved gets a bonus.
