Two years ago, far-left California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, established a task force with the assigned mission of examining slavery reparations. From the beginning, it was clear that the outcome from the task force wasn’t going to be if it would recommend reparations, that was a foregone conclusion. The only question was to whom such reparations should be given.
On Tuesday, that task force finally made their recommendation, and they may also have given a hint that whatever steps were to be taken would only be the beginning. After a lengthy debate and prior to holding the actual vote, the vice-chair of the task force,

Does that include my relatives that died in the war to end slavery? Slavery was a British institution when Britain claimed the colonies, so does Britain get to "pitch in"?

I"m alll for reparations: Any person who has ever owned a slave should have to contribute to a fund to be distributed to every person who has ever been a slave. (Ancestors don't count!)

Amazing that the WHITE CEO'S and Governors and people in power TALK about all that WE should do to help minorities but THEY never want to give up THEIR jobs to a minority because THEY are too valuable. You want to give reparations-do it. Not with MY money. DEMS were the slave owners and to this day run the inner cities like plantations. The dems keep blacks today on plantations just like they did in the south only now they call them the inner cities. Same thing. Bad education, dilapidated housing, break up the family, no chance of getting away and a sense of never getting ahead. Same thing different century.

Whatever foolishness you do just keep it in California. If state taxpayer's money is used, then why would Hispanics have to be punished when they weren't slave owners of blacks who are the target recipients.

It’ll be a federal mandate in less than a decade. Just as gay marriage started out as a State right that was quickly determined that it could not be contained or restricted to states.

Still waiting to see what the requirements are to qualify for these "reparations".
Ancestors that were slaves as of 1 January 1863? What about Free Persons of Color, who had been or who had ancestors who had been slaves before that? How about people who had been or who had ancestors who had been Northern slaves?
Do applicants have to offer proof that their non-White ancestors were living in the confines of the 1861 United States and Territories? For example, Puerto Rico was not a Territory until 1898, so what if your non-White ancestor was from PR?
What is your ancestor of "color" is not Black or Mulatto? They may, or may not, have been slaves pre-1863. What if your ancestor was held as a slave by entities on the North American continent that were not part of the United States. For example, Mexico freed its slaves between 1821-1837, so what if your ancestor had been a slave in the land acquired by the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo? What if your ancestors were slaves of the Indian tribes, which were considered sovreign nations?
Do you presently need to be considered "Black" to apply? What if you are "Mixed Race"? How much of that mix needs to be a slave ancestor to qualify? Is there a cut-off about how far back in time this qualifying ancestor lived? Do you only a percentage of a "preparation" in such cases?
How is this going to work?

Sure thing!
Payments should come from the descendants of:
Africans who sold their fellow Africans into slavery
The ship owners, captains, and crews of the ships that brought them to the USA
Slave owners in the USA
Confederate soldiers

Once started, there will NEVER be an 'end' to this ! There will NEVER be 'enough' money and uness
the birth rate of those who think they are entitled to SOMETHING DROPS TO ZERO, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE
an unending supply of claims !
This is not short sighted, nor stupid. This is INTENTIONAL and those that are pushing it KNOW EXACTLY
what they are doing and what the results are going to be.

#25 makes a point. Once a baby daddy or baby mommy somehow proves they descended from a slave 150 years ago, every generation can prove the same thing. There be a lot of 'em.

Nice try but this will NEVER stay in California. IT will spread like the infection it is and when Cal
can no longer afford what they have wrought, they will come pan handling to the Federal Gov't for
'help' - aka YOUR money !
And for those who say why should this or that group have to pay since they 'weren't involved in any way' -
I have NEVER owned a slave, I do not know ANYONE who has ever owned a slave. I do not KNOW any
slaves. I do not know anyone who has ever been a slave. There is little to NO PROVEABLE records anywhere about
who was or was not a slave especially going back 200 to 300 YEARS so how could ANYTHING be even
slightly fair about who gets how much $$$$. Answer - there is NO WAY to EVER determine who should
get how much !!
Because of the above and MANY other reasons, I DON'T OWE ANY GROUP A **** THING due to
slavery ( which is STILL going on, by the way ) and Newsom can take his 'plan' AND his 'task force'
and put them you know where !
I've stated before that this type of insanity is destroying this country, that I LOVE, and I fear that, at
some point, a switch of some kind, somewhere, somehow, is going to be flipped and when it is,
God help us all !

Every single person in this country who pays taxes is a slave to the government. Even in retirement, 85% of your social security is considered taxable income. You do not have a choice about what happens to a portion of your hard-earned income and labor. That’s the very definition of slavery.

I did not know that there ever was slavery or any slaves in California? If that is so, why other than for rank political purposes are the California politicians getting involved in possibly providing slavery reparations to people because their long deceased ancestors may have been enslaved elsewhere beyond the boundaries of California?
