I’m filing this under “too good to check,” as it’s in dispute. But before you dismiss the possibility out of hand that Ukraine has Russia on the run in the south, bear three things in mind:
1. They did just begin a counteroffensive aimed at Kherson
2. Yakov Rezantsev, the latest Russian general to be killed, reportedly met his maker in Kherson in a Ukrainian air attack
3. The fact that the Kremlin hinted hours ago that it was giving up on most of Ukraine might be a reaction to what’s happening in Kherson, essentially an admission that they can’t hold territory outside the Donbas at this point.

A Russian brigade commander in Ukraine has died after being run down with a tank by his own mutinous troops, it was revealed today.
Western officials believe Colonel Yuri Medvedev was brutally taken out after his 37th Motor Rifle Brigade suffered huge losses.
A lieutenant general commanding the 49th Combined Arms Army has also died in the fighting - the seventh to perish in the war. News of Colonel Medvedev's fate - backed by recent footage of the extraordinary episode - came amid claims that 20 of the 120 battalions massed by Vladimir Putin have been rendered inoperative

The Utah State Legislature has voted to override the governor's veto of the bill banning transgender children from participating in school sports. The House voted 56-18, while the Senate voted 21-8 for House Bill 11 on Friday, overturning the governor's veto of the bill. HB11, which was amended in the final hours of the legislative session, now bans transgender children from middle and high school sports. In the event of a lawsuit, however, the bill defaults to a special commission that would evaluate transgender children's eligibility to play a sport that matches their gender identity.

White House officials have repeatedly stated over recent months that the purpose of threatening sanctions against the Russian government as it appeared to be preparing to invade Ukraine was one of “deterrence.”But President Biden got testy during a press conference in Brussels Thursday when a reporter suggested that deterrence had not worked in preventing Putin from launching his war last month.“Let’s get something straight,” he told the reporter who asked the question. “You remember, if you’ve covered me from the beginning, I did not say that, in fact, the sanctions would deter him. Sanctions never deter. You keep talking about that.”Biden went on to say that

President Biden on Friday expressed disappointment he was unable to include a visit into Ukraine as part of his European trip amid Russia's invasion. Guney and others use a basketball court at Denver's Central Park Recreation Center for pickleball. Last Monday, the markings on the court had faded, so Guney re-marked them with a Sharpie. It’s been a wild, past few weeks, when it comes to surprise rulings on redistricting.
As RedState reported on Wednesday, the US Supreme Court stepped in to overturn Gov. Tony Ever’s district-level map in Wisconsin. That left the left reeling, not because of the consequences of possibly losing a district or two, but because the precedent of the ruling took another big bite out of the Voting Rights Act, which Democrats have used for decades as a kind of “cheat code” to gerrymander in their favor while stopping Republicans from doing the same.
Now, a shock ruling out of Maryland has nuked

Joe Biden arrived in Poland on Friday to meet with the Polish president. While there, he also met with the U.S. military members who are stationed there as part of the NATO defense of Poland. He met with some of the 82nd Airborne. Some of what he said during the visit was very concerning and is likely to excite all kinds of comments. Biden frequently says embarrassing things and it’s bad. But this time, what he said is even worse and could blow back on us big time.
First, let’s deal with what I would term the “normal” bad embarrassing stuff from Biden.

On Friday in Warsaw, Old Joe Biden met with American troops from the 82nd Airborne Division. It was just a photo-op; the alleged president tried to project an image of comfortable, genial command as he greeted troops getting their hair cut and joined a group eating pizza in a cafeteria. He told the troops that they were “the finest fighting force in the history of the world,” and dropped a broad hint that they might soon be fighting the biggest war in the history of the world: Old Joe started describing to them what they would see when they got to Ukraine.

Day 29 of the war brings major news: The face-saving retreat may have begun.
Remember that Putin’s goals when the invasion began were nothing less than the “denazification” and “demilitarization” of Ukraine. That was code for liquidating Zelensky’s government, installing a Russian puppet regime, and disarming the Ukrainian military so that insurgents wouldn’t threaten the new status quo. This was to be a war of conquest, designed to settle the question of whether Russians and Ukrainians were separate nations. They were not, according to Putin. They were one people. Russia’s “special military operation” would make that clear.

Everyone has jobs and no one is happy because prices are rising so sharply. U.S. consumer sentiment fell in March to the lowest since 2011 despite the level of jobless claims declining to the lowest level in decades and unemployment likely sinking to multi-decade lows. The University of Michigan’s sentiment index dropped to 59.4, from 62.8 in February, data released Friday showed. This was lower than the mid-month read of 59.7. Economists had projected no further deterioration from the mid-month reading. “Inflation has been the primary cause of rising pessimism, with an expected year-ahead inflation rate at 5.4 percent, the highest since November 1981,”

The Left has a Nazi fetish. They have an unhealthy obsession with Adolf Hitler. Maybe it’s because they all secretly want to be him? After all, he built death camps, put people he hated into them, and systemically murdered them. It’s what liberals want to do with anyone with whom they disagree, so roughly half the country. Everything they hate is rooted in racism, sexism, misogyny, or Nazism. It’s the same old game, but it’s not reaching levels of mockery that we really haven’t approached yet. Warsaw, Poland - President Joe Biden on Friday traveled to southeastern Poland, where he intends to meet with U.S. troops and aid workers assisting refugees in a country on the front lines of the humanitarian and military crisis unfolding in Ukraine.
Biden is scheduled to visit Rzeszow to thank the thousands of U.S. troops who began arriving at a military base there last month. The base in Poland is less than 100 miles from where Russian missiles struck a Ukrainian military post this month. Before he returns to Washington on Saturday, Biden said, he will try to meet with some of the

The left-wing news media didn’t just poison the information environment with their incessantly negative coverage of President Trump going into the 2020 election. They also refused to give airtime to important arguments of the Republican campaign — both pro-Trump and anti-Biden — which meant millions of voters cast their ballots knowing only what the media permitted them to know about the candidates. To measure the true effect of the media’s censorship on the election, the Media Research Center asked The Polling Company to survey 1,750 Biden voters in seven swing states (Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin), six of which (all but North Carolina) were called for Biden

Unvaccinated New York City workers who were fired from their jobs for not getting their shots, unleashed fury on Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday after he lifted the vaccination mandate solely for professional athletes and performers.Adams held a press conference in the New York Mets' Citi Field, with representatives from the Yankees and the Mets, to announce that he was lifting the ban on unvaccinated big league jocks from competing in sports, and actors and musicians from taking the stage. The move doesn't help 9-to-5 workers across the five boroughs who either lost their jobs or can't work because of the vaccine mandate,

Gallup on Wednesday published a new poll showing that Americans just love Ketanji Brown Jackson and want her on the Supreme Court right away: she is supposedly broadly popular, more so than anyone who has been nominated to the court since the 1980s. The far-Left news aggregator BoingBoing is thrilled, gushing about “the first black woman nominated to the Supreme Court and the most popular Supreme Court nominee in modern history,” but Gallup’s poll is really less about Ketanji Brown Jackson, whom nobody had ever heard of before Old Joe Biden nominated her to the Supreme Court, than it is about the lingering power of the

We’ve become accustomed to the hyper-politicization of the Supreme Court, particularly when it comes to the confirmation process for nominees. Wild, unsubstantiated allegations against Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his hearings in 2018 depicted him as the second coming of Caligula. The left and their media ate it up, parroting the outlandish claims at every opportunity.
One of the more memorable moments of the Kavanaugh hearings came from Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) when he practically became double-jointed patting himself on the back during his “I am Spartacus moment.” During those hearings, Booker was doing everything possible to derail Kavanaugh’s confirmation,

Day after day we read of cases in which a speaker was shut down on a college campus, a group was denied a forum or chased from the public square, or free inquiry was snuffed out because there might be words uttered or written that could “hurt” someone. Will the administrators and professors who refuse to punish this behavior, and even sometimes support it, ever understand that the invented grievances aren’t about offense but about having power over others?
Just this week, The College Fix reported that a University of Virginia student wrote in The Cavalier Daily that it was dangerous for former Vice President Mike Pence

There are no words for the rage I feel towards subhumans. There is no comparable horror, pain, and agony I can contemplate as I imagine being in the place of the maimed and murdered Linda Frickey, a 73-tear-old white woman. She was tortured and killed by four vile black teenagers.
Can you imagine the media’s outrage if the story were reversed, and an elderly black woman was accosted by four white teens? The George Floyd Riots would look like a hug.

The Biden administration is considering allowing Russia to buy Iran's excess enriched uranium under the terms of a new nuclear deal, U.S. officials said this week.
Under the original Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPO) in 2015, Russia agreed to buy Iran's excess uranium so that the regime could not build a nuclear weapon, a role that may be revived in the new deal.

The lack of self-awareness among the global elites is stunning. After Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau cracked down on protestors in his own country and sent his henchwoman, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, to freeze the assets of protesting truck drivers and their supporters, he traveled to Brussels to speak to the European Parliament. His theme was the threats to democracy posed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the growing distrust of governments in the West in the face of economic uncertainty. (Snip)
Speaking directly to Trudeau, he added, “Canada, once a symbol of the modern world, has become a symbol of civil rights violations under your quasi-liberal boot in recent months.

After four long days of hearings by the Senate Judiciary Committee, we are left with more questions than answers about what kind of justice Ketanji Brown Jackson would be if confirmed to the Supreme Court — and the answers the Senate received were troubling to the point of being disqualifying. Judge Jackson repeatedly claimed to not have a judicial philosophy. Instead, she suggested that she uses a “methodology” that she has developed throughout her time on the bench: utilizing “the arguments of the parties, the facts in the case, and the law that applies in every case” as “inputs” that aid her decision-making.

As the nation all-too slowly emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic nightmare we’ve endured for over two years, we are only beginning to get data back on the myriad horrors brought about by shortsighted policies that were forced upon us in the name of public health.
None of it is pretty.
One would presume that public health policy would protect or foster some sort of, you know, health. Alas, since the government is involved, words don’t always mean what they’re supposed to.
In the rush to mitigate the spread of the COVID virus, public health policy could have best been described as a lot of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Gen. Mark Milley, the Pentagon swamp creature who brought us the Afghanistan pullout and turned the U.S. military focus to "white rage," doesn't seem to be able to get Russia's generals, now bombing Ukraine, to return his phone calls.
According to the Washington Post:
Repeated attempts by the United States' top defense and military leaders to speak with their Russian counterparts have been rejected by Moscow for the last month, leaving the world's two largest nuclear powers in the dark about explanations for military movements and raising fears of a major miscalculation or battlefield accident.

New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and other large cities lost the most residents during the pandemic city exodus last year as about 75 per cent of U.S. counties experienced a loss in population, according to a new report from the U.S. Census Bureau. The agency revealed on Thursday that American's fled metropolitan areas between April 2020 to July 2021 in favor of the South West, with Dallas, Houston, Austin and Phoenix among those to see the largest growth last year. The Census Bureau said: 'In 2021, fewer births, an aging population and increased mortality - intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic - contributed to a rise in

In the wake of the New York Times whispering in print on page A-20 that the Hunter Biden laptop emails were authentic, the "fact checking"/censorship complex is in need of scrutiny. Jacob Siegel of Tablet Magazine wrote up a tart piece titled "Invasion of the Fact-Checkers" that explored how private media power and the Democrats engage in shutting down narratives they don't like. Shortly after the first reports of the laptop, The New York Times's Kevin Roose modestly acknowledged the role that misinformation journalists like him had played in pressuring tech companies to take “more and faster action to prevent false or misleading information

President Biden said Thursday he would welcome a 2024 rematch against former President Donald Trump while insisting that European leaders have confidence in his leadership.Biden gave the rare commentary on his re-election chances during a press conference that lasted less than 20 minutes in Brussels after a foreign journalist asked about concern among US allies that Trump could return to office.“The next election, I’d be very fortunate if I had that same man running against me,” Biden insisted after attending NATO and G7 meetings to discuss Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Arizona and Oklahoma passed bills on Thursday that would ban transgender youth from participating in girls’ sports, the latest in a flurry of state legislation passed by Republicans on the hot-button, election year issue.
In addition to the Republican-sponsored “Save Women’s Sports Act,” Arizona lawmakers passed legislation that would prohibit physicians from providing gender-affirming surgery to minors. Both bills are now headed to the desk of Governor Doug Ducey, also a Republican.
The votes largely fell along party lines.
“Why would we be legislating bullying against children who want to… participate in sports?,” Democratic Representative Kelli Butler said in an emotional speech dissenting the bill before Arizona lawmakers on Thursday.

¡Es la economía, estúpido! It may be even more than that, but the economic travails of the Joe Biden era have begun to drain Democrats’ support among Hispanic voters, a new Axios poll reports. Compared to other polling, though, this might qualify as good news for Democrats, in that it doesn’t show much Republican gain.
Yet:
Latino support for Democrats is softening as inflation replaces COVID-19 as the top worry, according to the latest Axios-Ipsos Latino Poll in partnership with Noticias Telemundo.
Why it matters: The survey does not show a mass defection to the Republican Party. But two trends since our last survey in December are hurting President Biden

During an interview with CBS News’ “Red and Blue” on Thursday, House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) stated that he believes President Joe Biden will do “some things on voting that may surprise some people,” and this will help boost his poll numbers.
Clyburn said that the confirmation process for Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson will help Biden’s poll numbers, “but it’s not the only thing that’s going to impact those numbers. I think the president’s numbers are going to start to go up. This will help. The things that he will be doing, going forward, I think he’s going to be doing some things on voting
