There you are — on the highway in a hurry. Suddenly, a sloppy sight means your plans are impeded by a pause: That rotting armadillo in the emergency lane would sure be scrumptious as a stew. Should you stop, or is that selfish? Is leaving it for the next driver the Christian thing to do? Perhaps now, you can feel a little fairer in your claiming of the carcass: There’s an app for that. At least, that is, if you’re hungry at the wheel in Wyoming. As reported by The Associated Press, The Suffrage State’s launched a phone app letting drivers put dibs on dashed-line dinner.

Comments:

With the price of meat and groceries skyrocketing, this could be a good thing to help fill freezers.

Watch out you may get charged with poaching. Decades ago I was in England and was warned to never pick up a dead pheasant and transport it because they were owned by the Queen. Certainly don't pick up any dead eagles.

One must be careful, but as a very impecunious college student, road kill armadillo was on the menu more than once, and there is about 30 lbs of superb road kill venison in my freezer now, from a tender young buck that was hit on the road by my rural home on a cold February night, well below freezing, and found and butchered a few hours later. I don't go looking for this, and would no longer bother with an armadillo in Florida, but a buck, close to home and easily handled....I won't pass that up. OTOH, I see deer regularly dead on larger roads here, and would never stop to get them, too, risky to be stopping on busy highways, IMO, and much more difficult to know the time of death.

This certainly brings a chuckle but there is a food shortage coming. Especially wheat which is in a million items. And what food will be found on the shelves will be way too expensive to even think about buying. But, no problem. Just get a patio bug zapper with a bowl under it. Zap, and there's dinner, or just a tasty snack. Depends on how hungry you are. We are going to be in a world of hurt sooner rather than later when it comes to food shortages. The poorest countries consume most of their daily calories from wheat products. With the mess that Russia has made wheat will be at a premium and these countries will be in a very bad place. Not so sure I want a roadkill BBQ so I am stocking up. But the poorest in Egypt and other countries will suffer. I am sure they would be happy to find any roadkill they could get their hands on. Meat? They will be lucky to get a crust of bread. I guess Bernie could set up his "commie government" bread lines yet.

What happens if you shoot a deer out of season? You can shoot it out of season and drag it to the road. Then "Voila!" A nice find. The implications are limitless.

#2, if it is a cold day, stick your finger into the deer's mouth. If it feels warm, it is fresh. In Pennsylvania, the Game Commission issues a permit for road kliled deer. All it takes is a phone call to them.

True story. About 15 years ago DH and I lived in a small town in Eastern Oregon. We left the house to go shopping and hit a deer a couple of blocks from home. We pulled over to the side of the road when a pickup truck showed up. Two guys in white coats, knives and thick German accents asked if they could have the deer. DH said "Sure". We hunted deer, but really didn't want to deal with this. So we drove away shaking our heads. Come to find out the two men were brothers; butchers who had just opened a shop in our small town.

Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Ketanji Brown Jackson, was briefly hailed (by some) as a consensus nominee that even some Republicans could support. I’m starting to think that Republican support will be much harder to get than Biden had hoped. Last month, we learned that in 1996, Jackson wrote a “Note” for the Harvard Law Review arguing that convicted sex offenders were treated “unfairly” in the courts. Earlier this week, her past work advocating on behalf of Guantánamo Bay terrorists also became an issue that will undoubtedly come up during her confirmation hearings. Completing the trifecta of disturbing aspects of Ketanji Brown Jackson’s radical record

Up, up and you pay. The average U.S. price for regular-grade gasoline at the pump soared a whopping 79 cents over the past two weeks to hit a record $4.43 per gallon on Sunday. That exceeds by 32 cents the prior all-time high of $4.11 set in July 2008, AP reports. Industry analyst Trilby Lundberg of the Lundberg Survey said Sunday the new price is still some way from the inflation-adjusted record high of about $5.24 per gallon. The price at the pump is $1.54 higher than it was a year ago, with plenty of consumers pointing directly at President Joe Biden and his policies.

Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey, a Democrat, has claimed that, despite an abundance of evidence showing that “clean” energy is currently neither as reliable nor as efficient as traditional energy, America should invest in it right now instead of the latter. He made this bold but dubious assertion while delivering a speech this weekend at the Democrat National Committee’s winter meeting. “Republicans and their oil-soaked cronies … want to feed the American people one of the biggest lies of all – that drilling for more oil and more gas is the path to energy independence,” he said during his speech. “Republicans say that they have an all-of-the-above plan,

In 2020, President Joe Biden declared war on oil and gas in America. In a Democratic primary debate, Biden declared, “No more subsidies for the fossil fuel industry. No more drilling including offshore. No ability for the oil industry to continue to drill, period. It ends.” High gas prices are all part of his plan. The other day, Biden declared that there was nothing his administration had done to raise prices or restrict drilling. Actually, there have been plenty of regulatory measures taken and offshore leases curtailed. More importantly, Biden declared war on fossil fuels. If you were an investor, would you invest in a company

We have a person detained for nearly 90 days without an indictment. Why? Well, this person was around the Capitol Building during the January 6 riot. The shifting sands of Democrat gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke’s gun control plans have solidified, for now, into a pledge to buy back AR-15s and AK-47s from Texans if the state legislature will support doing it. O’Rourke spoke with Texas Tribune CEO Evan Smith on Saturday and KVUE reported O’Rourke’s comments. Smith asked O’Rourke to clarify his position on confiscatory gun control. O’Rourke stressed his belief that citizens should not be able to buy a AR-15s, then said: “And if I can find the consensus within the Legislature to have a law in the state of Texas that allows us to buy those AK-47s and AR-15s back, we will.

No ability for the oil industry to continue to drill, period, ends, number one." (Candidate Joe Biden, Democratic Presidential debates, March 15, 2020.) Well, whatever else we might say about Biden, we can’t say he fudged on that campaign pledge. One consequential calamity stares us in the face every time we pump gas. One calamity Greenies often trumpet in support of Biden’s Green New Deal is the BP oil spill off the Louisiana coast in April, 2010. For those who only remember the hysterical headlines of the time,

Joe Biden has said that he’s doing everything he can to work on the issue of rising gas prices. At the same time, he’s also said there wasn’t much he can do, and has blamed it on Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Biden tried to blame it on oil companies, too, claiming they have permits but aren’t drilling enough. Talk about completely not taking the blame or the responsibility for anything. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) – the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee chair – busted those lies, saying there’s a lot that can be done — starting with getting stalled pipeline permits approved.

Democrats have got nothing to run on for re-election. And that’s eating at the politicians who’ve been casting about for a catchy slogan that would fit on a bumper sticker and sweep the country. Originally, the Biden people thought that “Build Back Better” would carry them to victory. But it’s become apparent that BBB is the punchline to a joke and wouldn’t be useful. Some Democrats hit upon the brilliant slogan “Democrats Deliver!” but the White House polled the tagline and found it came in near the bottom of other suggestions. Given what Democrats have “accomplished” so far, Republicans could easily make a mockery of that slogan. “Deliver what?” they might counter.
