VATICAN CITY (RNS) — As Pope Francis continued attempts to mediate the conflict in Ukraine, former Vatican envoy and outspoken papal critic Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò released a letter Monday (March 7) blaming “deep state” forces in the United States, the European Union and NATO for triggering the current war and demonizing Russia.
The archbishop said in his letter that Putin has been cornered by an aggressive NATO, backed by the United States, which is seeking to escalate the conflict for its own gains. “This is the trap for Russia just as much as Ukraine, using both to allow a globalist elite to bring its criminal plot to fruition,” Viganò wrote.

FTA: “But Viganò sees a deeper plot to institute a new world order. Naming the United Nations, NATO and the International Monetary Fund as well as the European Union and billionaire philanthropists like George Soros and Bill Gates, the archbishop identified a global conspiracy, initiated by an American deep state, to introduce a world government based on economic interests and progressivism.
“Viganò portrayed Zelenskyy as an E.U. puppet, an affable outsider introduced to foment Ukrainians’ feelings against Russia.
““The image of Zelenskyy is an artificial product, a mediatic fiction, an operation to manipulate consensus that was nonetheless able to create a political character in the Ukrainian collective imagination and who in reality, not in fiction, was able to seize power,” the former Vatican envoy wrote of the Ukrainian president, who is Jewish.
“Calling Ukrainians “hostages” of the globalist totalitarian regime, he advised them against joining the E.U. Instead, Viganò wrote, European nations must seek their independence by finding once more their “sovereignty, their identity, their faith. Their soul.”
“These are the times that try men’s souls.” (Thomas Paine)

I'm glad that Archbishop Vigano has been a great counterbalance to Pope Francis and his plastic straw ban campaign. Among other items of great magnitude.
Archbishop Viganos point about the West baiting Putin into an invasion fits with old school Cold War diplomats and military leaders. Don't press NATO up against Russian borders. But the new breed of liberals kept dangling NATO membership to Ukraine, after promising protection if they gave up their nuclear weapons. I seriously doubt they intended to keep that promise.
As much as I admire Archbishop Vigano over the years, I fail to see how Russia could be a good guy in all of this. Russia appears to be the retaliatory aggressor against Western soft aggression. If Soros or Biden wanted to negotiate a peace before anything happened - they would have. The msm narrative is suspect as usual. Instead they got what they wanted and the Innocents on all sides pay for it.
My 2 cents - bad guys fighting bad guys.

The Catholic Church may be on life-support, but if those in power could read and absorb Archbishop Vigano's words, we would see a world-wide revival of faith. I read all twenty-four pages; first, up to page thirteen and then the rest. It is not light reading. The Archbishop's intent is to inform. He tells the truth about what is happening in our world, but it is so complicated that we really need God's intervention to sort it all out.
FTA: "I earnestly hope that my appeal for the establishment of an Anti-Globalist Alliance that unites the peoples of the world in opposition against the tyranny of the New World Order will be accepted by those who have at heart the common good, peace between nations, concord among all peoples, freedom for all citizens and the future of the new generations."
On March 2, the Bishops of Ukraine sent an urgent appeal to Pope Francis to have the countries of Russia and Ukraine publicly consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Our Lady requested Russia's consecration to Her Immaculate Heart by the Pope and all bishops over one hundred years ago. To consecrate means to dedicate something for a divine purpose. Vigano;s prayer for "peace among nations, concord among all peoples, freedom for all citizens and the future of the new generations" sounds like a truly divine purpose. I pray Pope Francis will hear the pleas of us all and publicly consecrate these two good countries to the Immaculate Heart of Mary so she may intercede for us all.

Misquoted Vigano's words in my last paragraph. Should have written "peace between nations", rather than "peace among nations". My apologies.

1. This comes from America, the Jesuit publication strengthening liberal pseudoCatholics and attempting to advance the agenda isolating and minimizing traditional Catholics- those who pray the rosary and ignore the current pope.
2. Primary source is provided and posted to this salon.
3. It is clear that at this point in history, for whatever reason God has, Putin has taken action against the collective New World Order/Great reset/neofascist corrupt elitist global government of the World Economic Counsel/UN/ IMF/Soros Obama zuckerburg Gates Bezos Rockefeller republicans(BushRomneyNeverTrump). The myth of proud independent Ukraine is in actuality NewWorld Order with the E.U. and NATO parking its tanks and bio weapons labs on Russia’s borders.
We need to be very careful in choosing sides here.
And yes this is a spiritual war to recreate man, not in God’s image but the Superman of the fourth reich. The antiGod.

Who are you going to believe, a prominent Archbishop or an obviously liberal lady writing for a magazine with an agenda? The best answer is probably "neither."
