ussian President Vladimir Putin chose this war, Joe Biden said in his Thursday afternoon speech to America regarding the conflict in Ukraine. That is true, but U.S. elites also had something to do with Putin’s ugly and destructive choice—a role that Democrats and Republicans are eager to paper over with noble-sounding rhetoric about the bravery of Ukraine’s badly outgunned military. Yes, the Ukrainian soldiers standing up to Putin are very brave, but it was Americans that put them in harm’s way by using their country as a weapon, first against Russia and then against each other

And the solution to this deadly game of international Clue is: Joe Biden. . . in Ukraine. . . with his son.

I second the nomination for "Must Read".
What is happening now is payback on several fronts. One is rubbing NATO's nose in the dogpile on the carpet. After nearly three-quarters of a century, Russia shows the world what this effete organization is worth, and it's not much. The Bundeswehr, one of the "strongest" NATO forces is a shambles. The Croatians want to go home if fighting starts. The Canadians are busy breaking up their own "democracy", not that they'd contribute much. In the Baltics, the US and others are planting a few hundred troops in each country as trip-wires, with NATO having very little with which to resist short of nukes. And the 101st cools its heels in Romania, 8000 strong and impotent.
George Washington gave two bits of related advice 220 years ago: Avoid permanent alliances (see NATO) and don't get involved in European intrigues (see Ukraine). Of course, what did he know? Certainly, he could not foresee the day the US became the "Leader of the Free Loaders."

This is a must read which spells out the misguided US policies versus Putin over the last two decades. The morons running our Ukraine/Russia policy in the open and in the shadows thought themselves oh so clever but shows where corruption and hubris lead. Keystone Cops pretending to be latter day Metternichs never works out well especially with gibbering quarter-wits in nominal charge.
An article like this helps inoculate against the psyops now being spewed by the corrupt to deflect and pivot. The natural extension will be the breathless reports of Russians bayoneting pregnant women and babies.

Finally someone lays it all out. It’s nice to know there are others out there who understand how all this came to be. The Republican Honorary John McCain Never Ending Cold War faction and the Democratic Fraudulent Trump/Putin Collusion Impeachment faction have thrown Ukraine under the bus. If you ever wondered how conflicts get started, this is a textbook example. It’s a slow motion show of stupidity, geopolitical ignorance, worthless politicians, corruption, media cheerleading and reckless dissemination of dangerous and deadly military equipment without a thought of what the consequences will be. This should have never happened. Totally preventable. Disgusting.

This article is a bit ridiculous. I was there for the Orange Revolution and it was peaceful, far more a political campaign than any sort of a "revolution". Dozens of Orange roofed small tents set up on the Independence Square, where people gathered to talk and hand out literature. No violence, just politics.
I was walking one day in Kiev and ran into a huge demonstration at the Presidential residence, maybe 10 blocks from the Independence Square....and promptly turned directly away and fast walked three blocks before continuing on my path to the museum I was visiting. But that was a peaceful (not like the BLM/antifa thugs) protest, nothing broken, nobody harmed. I still wanted to stay clear of it.
The Maidan revolution, happened a couple of months after I stopped doing business in Ukraine. I saw it coming, and talked to a lot of very unhappy Ukrainians, they were very unhappy about the massive, massive, obvious corruption in their President....a Putin puppet, who had the previous president in prison, nearly dying from maltreatment.
The people occupied the Independence Square, right in front of my hotel, where I often shopped and went to eat at surrounding restaurants and shops. This is the "Maidan", and after a 24/7 occupation for a couple of months (just down the hill a few hundred yards from the Presidential office building, right behind our hotel, and half a block over) the President (or Putin?) sent Russian snipers to kill people in the crowd. Dozens of peaceful protesters murdered, and then the crowd reacted violently and came after the President in the office building. He bailed out to Russia, and a new government was formed.
This article makes this all seem like some USA plot....I knew the people involved in some of this, and they just were so, so, SO sick of all the corruption in everything from the Russian puppet Viktor Yanukovych. I don't think the USA controlled or triggered any of this. Imagining US political control of these things is a conceit, in my view. Even if we supported it, which is probably true, I don't think that support helped or hurt. Not many weapons were used by the Maidan occupiers, perhaps a dozen hunting shotguns at most were ever involved. Only demonstrators died. The "revolutionaries" shot nobody, only occupied the Maidan for months. I had acquaintences who were there, and the brother of one of my project managers was there all along, and she brought them food each day but said "I am not brave enough to stay".
