Ukraine's armed forces said on Friday night that they had shot down a Russian military transport plane carrying 150 paratroopers on the outskirts of Kyiv. The plane came down near Vasylkiv, 20 miles south of Kyiv, the Ukrainian military said. The fate of those onboard was unclear. The aircrafts - medium-range military transport aircraft, which first went into service in 1974 - can hold 150-225 fully-equipped soldiers, and is used to drop paratroopers into combat and resupply arms. The news came shortly after Ukraine's president warned that the Russians intend to take Kyiv overnight,

48-year-old transport plane.
The last time I saw an Aerolot plane was when we were a tour of two in China in 1986. Those of us who flew CAAC were believed to be suicidal (per the Lonely Planet travel guide) to board these ancient aircraft...

How many innocent Ukrainians will Russia kill to avenge these 150 paratroopers? 10:1, 50:1...
The Russians are evil!!! Putin wants to show how "strong" Russia is, and will unleash Hell on Ukraine if they drag out the inevitable for too much longer.
Sadly, the only way Ukraine is going to survive is to surrender and be under Russian control again (as they were for most of the last 100 years). Then hope the rest of the free world will put enough pressure on Russia to force them to find a "face saving" way to back out of all this. But that will take time, and only long after Ukraine is defeated in battle.

Vladimir Putin is misidentified. His proper name is Adolf Putin.

Neither the Russian soldiers nor the Ukrainian soldiers deserve their fates brought on by a power hungry madman in the Kremlin empowered by a weak, empty suit in the Whitehouse.

Does this sound like a superpower? Hope our military is closely watching Russia's capabilities so they have a better idea what they might be dealing with in the future.

They will be perfectly at home in hell, since they already speak the language.
Besides, it's supposedly a dry heat.

I flew on many Aeroflot flights over a 10 year period. And believe me, the Aeroflot flights were the GOOD ones. There were dozens of tiny local airlines in Russia that I was prohibited from flying on, so grim were their safety records. We often traveled long distances on the Trans Siberian Railroad because the only airlines were unsafe.
Il-76 was never a civil airliner, always a military transport. But, in Russia, Aeroflot does both military and civilian roles, many times.

I wonder how many Russian and Ukrainian youngsters, dying painfully in the mud, realize that if The President had not been cheated out of his victory in 2020, they would not be dying this day.
Biden's fault.
