A 19-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after being charged with fatally shooting a 9-year-old girl last spring in north Minneapolis as she was jumping on a trampoline in a friend's backyard. Trinity Ottoson-Smith's killing was one of several involving young victims hit by unintended gunfire last year on the North Side and the first case to result in an arrest. D'Pree Shareef Robinson of Minneapolis was arrested in Minneapolis by state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) agents and booked into the Hennepin County jail on probable cause second-degree intentional murder.(Snip)Trinity was jumping on a trampoline in a backyard

Comments:

There's Toxic White Supremacy, and then there's D'Pree Shareef Robinson doing a gang-related drive-by.

The authorities could stop gang violence if they wanted to. They do not have the will to do it. They are afraid of being called racist, of losing their support among specific demographics, and losing their gravy train of cash. Meanwhile, innocent people -- often people of color -- are the victims. I do not see how we can continue to call an unintended death resulting from stray gunfire of gang members just a "second degree" murder. If someone is using a gun illegally and purposefully, then that person intended to kill or at least harm another person. That the intended target was missed is irrelevant. If someone dies, then the perp ought to spend many years (his life?) in the calaboose.

As an aside, these black urban mothers need to stop naming their offspring with these made-up monikers. There are NOT resume enhancers and are subliminally setting their children up for future failure with low expectations implied with their by-names. Stick with Jeffrey, Steven, William, or Biblical names. It's worked wonders for the Asian-American community for decades.

The Biden Justice Department is ending an initiative aimed at Chinese espionage and intellectual property theft over concerns it created a perception of racism, according to a top official on Wednesday. Assistant Attorney General for National Security Matthew Olsen announced during a speech at George Mason University that the department was scrapping its China Initiative, even though an internal review found no indication of racial bias or prejudice. Olsen said, according to a transcript of his speech: We have heard concerns from the civil rights community that the ‘China Initiative’ fueled a narrative of intolerance and bias. To many, that narrative suggests that the Justice Department treats people from China
