In the End, Sweden Did It Right

Original Article

What if two years ago, when COVID-19 first hit these shores, our politicians hadn't panicked? What if the government did what it has done every time we were confronted with a deadly virus, such as the Spanish flu or polio? Instead of locking down our schools, churches and businesses, the government could have simply informed citizens of the risks of getting sick and urged people to be extra careful about hygiene, stay out of crowded places and protect the vulnerable. It turns out there was one country that mostly rejected lockdowns and let life go on as normal as possible under dire circumstances. That country was Sweden.

Comments:

The left needed the economy and the country shut down so they could roll through their drop boxes and ballot harvesting with the ultimate goal of cheating Donald Trump out of a second term. Why do you think IVM and HCQ were so villianized? They absolutely could not let their "ultimate solution" be defeated by a couple of inexpensive, readily available medications, even if it meant people needlessly died!!

Suspicions persist that this was an intentional release because it jumped globally to a political cudgel each side uses to clobber one another, and for all the things OP said. Not to mention the VAST transfer of wealth - I'm all for capitalism, but this wasn't capitalism. How in Hades are Big Pharma allowed to profit to the absurd extent they have? Something is NOT RIGHT about any of this on so many levels.

Totally agree with you OP. We The People were played for gullible and scared sheeple by career pols and gvt Admin who only care about power and to hell with us. What a huge effort it was too-almost every single media outlet was in lockstep with whatever the Democrats said, and we ended up seeing the death of our republic. Our votes don't count. I offer only my opinion, which I, of course, value highly, but here it is. Setting aside presidential politics, I believe Fauci was the main problem with the Kung Flu. He, like other medical researchers, has been fascinated with viral illnesses, and the theoretical possibility of creating a super shot innoculation, which would lead us to super immunity., is a goal. That would make Fauci the Alexander The Great in the garden of physicians of history. Bill Gates, diddlng with his piles of money, got board, perhaps to assuage guilt over selling the same crappy app, over and over again. And when the Kung Flu hit, and Governor Cuomo did everything wrong, while being praised by the media for that, and DJT gave him a working hospital at the Javits Center, and the U.S.S. Hope hospital ship, those facilities remained almost empty. Cuomo and Murphy crammed infected oldsters back into nursing homes, after those oldsters were over treated with ventilators. And governors became medical executors That, in turn, led to high death rates. In addition, there was no strong medical voice to speak to DJT. The Physician whop should have been listened to was Dr. Birx, a clinician, but she spoke somewhat softly on treatment options, whille Fauci rolled his eyes to dismiss her suggestions. If we add in most of the media, itching to hurt DJT's presidency, and dimocrat and some republican legislators and governors who wanted the same, we might understand how we got here. Alexander the Great is said to have wept when he was told that there were no more countries to conquer.. My theory is that Fauci wanted to weep when all diseases were gone because of his acts of leadership..He sees himself as the better of every medical researcher in history, if the truth be known. I believe my post to be theoretical, but closer to the truth than other theories.

The whole pandemic was just an excuse to condition the population to totalitarian control and allow a loosening of voting regulations. The infection management was a joke at best and an experiment with the populations wellbeing at worst. How long before we have draconian government controls imposed because of climate change, gun control, eating meat, limiting family size etc...it's for the peoples health right

Correct about Sweden. The only thing they should have done differently was they should have done more to protect the elderly. Lockdowns don't work, masks don't work and vaccines provided imperfect protection and probably caused the variants to arise. What should have been done was to let the virus run its course. If people at high risk needed to stay home, fine. But there was no need to quarantine the healthy.

It sounds as if a big difference between Sweden and the United States amounts to one thing: politics. Sweden didn't have an opposition party trying to oust a sitting president by any means possible, including the death of its fellow citizens. America did.

Americans continue to fail their civics exams, and COVIDS is just another failure. Politicians don't "lead", rather follow public opinion to remain popular enough for re-election. Before blaming Biden, let's look at the Trump response. There is your burning fuse. PDT apparently trusted the government's "experts", like Fauci and Birx. He turned over the Bully Pulpit to them...and convinced many that we needed a war footing to battle this plague. He invoked the War Production Act of 1950. He sent hospital ships to NYC that ended up empty. He kicked off "Project Warp Speed" that produced magic elixir until January 20, 2021...then it became Biden Poison. '22 is another election year. Even with Democrats getting hammered, the return rate on incumbents will be higher than 75 percent...likely much higher. Rinse and repeat...what wil be the next "crisis"? Americans are now hooked on nightly fear porn.

Democrats’ Gas Tax Gimmick Is Beyond Stupid 7 replies

Except in the months preceding a crucial midterm election, today’s Democrats would argue that high gas prices are a good thing. They see gas prices as a Pigouvian tax on fossil fuels that accelerate the shift to renewable “green” energy. Regulatory and legislative actions such as killing the Keystone Pipeline early last year, and closing off federal lands for oil drilling, were made by the Biden Administration and its congressional cohorts knowing full well such decisions would raise gas prices for consumers. Democrats were okay with that, until their polling numbers began dipping into the frigid zone.

Sure, it was only a brief mention of my article’s premise, alongside a screenshot of the headline, but for that moment, I transcended…something. The article in question was titled “Joe Biden Produces a Word Salad So Bad It’ll Make You Question Everything.” And while it seems almost quaint now, having been written prior to the 2020 election, it remains no less instructive today, serving as a reminder of just how far gone Biden was — even during the campaign. The protesters in Ottawa are hoping to make it through the weekend until the Senate convenes. They want to make it to Monday because the Emergencies Act has to be approved by the Parliament within seven days of it being called for, which was on February 14. So it has to be approved by tomorrow. They are hoping that the legislators will not approve it, the police will back off, and the Parliament will address their concerns. There were still hundreds of protesters out Saturday in Ottawa, more even than there were earlier when there was a lot of police action against them.

Presidents’ Day is one of those uniquely American holidays. As such, it is under scrutiny and condemnation of the anti-American Left. Honoring men, white men for that matter, who engaged in colonization and racism, the argument goes ad nauseum, is bad. Shame on us who honor these despicable men. The condemnation of Washington, and even Lincoln, fails to miss a broader and bigger story that their inspirational memory is meant to reveal: the growth of liberty and equality in the United States that Washington helped give birth to and that Lincoln helped to preserve and expand. Focusing on the detriments of Washington and Lincoln as individuals obscures the bigger story
