The New York Times was slammed online over a crossword puzzle hint for the word 'greed' as they referred to it as a vice linked to capitalism. On Tuesday's crossword, the Times had the clue 'vice encouraged by capitalism,' to which the answer was greed, causing an uproar as people accused the paper for stoking anti-capitalism sentiments while at the same time profiting off the system.
On Twitter, journalist Clifford May, a former Times writer, tweeted, 'Years ago, when I worked there, it was a great newspaper. If it stays on the current trajectory it won't be a newspaper at all. Just another propaganda outlet.'

Is this capitalist greed? "Former New York Times publisher Arthur 'Pinch' Sulzberger Jr. is apparently living up to his nickname in his divorce battle with his wife of less than six years, Gabrielle Greene.(Snip)One source sniped, 'Arthur gave Gabrielle a prenup before they married, and now he doesn’t want to stick to it.'(Snip)Sulzberger Jr. bought an Upper West Side penthouse for $4 million in 2011. He also owns a Hudson Valley mansion in New Paltz. The NYT scion, 69, reportedly worth around $16 million, filed for divorce from Greene, a 60-year-old financier who did a brief stint as chair of Whole Foods, on Feb. 4, The Post first revealed.

Kim Jong-un's net worth, and how he got it? Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Xi? What is the average net worth, taken from others, of every successful Communist implementor? That's GREED. Accumulating wealth by earning it is NO VICE because it is not possible to accumulate wealth by earning it without creating wealth and value for others in the process.

I would tell Clifford May that his warning is too late.

In the 1930's Walter Duranty worked for the NY Times and covered up the looting and genocide of the Ukrainians during a widespread famine in Russia. He got a Pulitzer Prize for his coverup story. The NY Times has been rotten for decades.

NY Times X-word solvers may be aware of perhaps the busiest blog devoted to those puzzles, Rex Parker. Obviously a pseudonym for a nancy boy lit prof whose wokeness oozes to an embarrassing fault. Should a given puzzle include anything not doctrinaire left, "Rex" gets ugly, mean and hate-filled. Posters at his site mostly agree in lockstep.
Point being, this "greed" thing pales in comparison to the self-righteous, supernova indignation elicited by the "wrong" clues/answers. We're used to the insults, "Rex" and company, not so much. Their fury feeds me.

This is what you get when snobby private school rich white kids take over, who never had to really work for a living and still eating with the silver spoon? Spoiled whiny little creeps and geeks. If you guys hate capitalism so much give up all your money and processions and live a very austere life.

Re #6. Those relatively upper middle class Ukrainian farmers that Stalin murdered were called "kulaks", and once he had removed and killed them, he shipped in Russian peasants to work those farmlands as Communist collective farms. Some of the richest farmland on the planet, too. I have been there, very black, deep topsoil.
Those same Russians, or more correctly, their children and grandchildren, now 90 years later, see themselves still as Russians, not Ukrainians. And about 15 years ago, after Ukraine became independent, Putin, in a magnanimous gesture of "friendship", (eye roll) offered Russian passports to those ethnic Russians who were put there after Stalin murdered the original owners. That was the first step to where we are now...or maybe Stalin's genocide was the first step, and Putin's passports was the second.
And about 7 or 8 years ago, Putin sent in "little green men from Mars" with tanks, face masks (no insignia, denied they were Russians) and took over the bigger cities of these rich farming regions. He then armed those Russian passport holders, and sent in officers, weapons and more to start an "insurgency" to "free themselves" from the "oppression of Ukraine". Now, Putin has gone in to lock up the deal, "recognizing" these two "breakaway regions" (which HE created) as "independent countries".
Any guesses about how long before these "independent countries" will ask the wonderful guy Putin to "please let us become part of Mother Russia"??
And some deny that there has been an invasion. I guess if you read the NYT and believe it, then that's your view. Facts and history don't matter to some people.

I remember, years ago and living in Manhattan, how my husband and I would go out at midnight to get the Sunday Times Saturday night. Not safe to do that anymore, but even if it were......... Somehow or other I get an online precis of the daily Times, and I simply delete ....don't even bother to look at it. Rely on Lucianne, Breitbart and the Wall Street Journal.

After so many self sufficient families left the farm for work in the city they were dependent on capitalism. Those were the best days.
