Progressive SUNY Binghamton professor
rebuked for race, gender policy

Original Article

SUNY Binghamton officials have rebuked a professor who said white students should clam up in class and let others lead academic discussions, according to a report. A syllabus for Ana Maria Candela’s sociology class alerted students that she would be calling on non-white coeds first. Candela wrote that “if you are white, male, or someone privileged by the racial and gender structures of our society to have your voice easily voiced and heard, we will often ask you to hold off on your questions or comments to give others priority and will come back to you a bit later or at another time.”(Snip)Dubbed “progressive stacking,” Candela’s policy

Comments:

The purpose of sociology courses is to vilify and marginalize white men for the crime of being white. It's hateful pseudo-scientific Marxist trash that should be removed from universities entirely, or at a minimum removed as a class typically required to meet core requirements.

Sociology courses are some of the biggest scams in universities - right in front of “women’s studies” and “education.” I’ve never met anyone with a sociology degree who had a real job.

Sociology as an academic discipline, is not inherently evil. It is the teachers and administrators of our educational institutions that use sociology as a cudgel to beat white people and artificially elevate the contributions of POC within our society. Everyone is complicit in allowing this bastardization of the study of human social relationships. Don't think for a nanosecond that the same bastardization isn't taking place in STEM courses, as it is being allowed by the public at large, just like sociology was in years past.

I used to see this in elementary school in the 1960's. Not so much from the older teachers, but a lot from the younger ones. When a black kid had something to say, no matter how babbling or pointless, it was treated like it was engraved on tablets from on high and all us stupid white kids should shut up and learn. "I thinks everybody just has to gets along." The teacher then followed up with applause and renditions of "Lean On Me", which just encouraged the rest of them. We learned alright.

Candela should be thankful that, as a student, she didn't haven professors that called on the pretty girls first. Because, with that mug, she would have been treated as totally invisible.

I had to take a sociology course to graduate from nursing school. All I remember is when you’re faced with an angry mob, try to find someone you know and call them by their name. The mob is then disarmed and less likely to attack. It was a complete waste of time and it’s study is based on the belief that such an education can perfect society (who says it isn’t Marxist?) when all it does is give the dumbest of asses a soft major to graduate college while feeling righteous and then allow them to work as bank tellers or to meddle in other people’s lives for just above minimum wage. I have nothing against people who want to help the disadvantaged but sociologists don’t and never have cut it and besides, no one needs a bachelor’s degree to check up on neighbors and provide help. Miss Candela’s work includes writing her first book - not about who killed Miss Scarlett in the library with a wrench or meeting Mr. Right on a safari to Mozambique - but about the effect of immigration on Chinese immigrants who sailed for Peru. Next will be a must-read about the effect marooning had on Chinese sailors off the coast of Chile.

When the instructor restricts classroom participation to certain "voices" and tells others they'll have to hold their questions for "another time," she's not doing her job. All students who have done their assigned reading are entitled to discuss and ask for clarification the next time the class meets. Participation is not a "privilege" the instructor gets to reserve for some students, and deny to others. That's abusive, and raises questions about her grading practices. Her job is not to pick winners and losers. Her job is to teach a subject to an entire classroom of individuals who paid to receive her services. She's not entitled to prejudge any of her students, nor deny any of them the full classroom experience. Glad her behavior was reported, and that she was quickly put in her place by the administration.

Fueled by remote work and booming regional economies, mass migration to the South, Southwest and Mountain West drove some of the sharpest increases in home prices, as demand outstripped supply. Fighting, boycotting, marching, and even working as an investigator for the NAACP, advocating against sexual assaults on Black women.” “It was Rosa Park’s act of civil disobedience on that bus that sparked a revolution,” she continued. “She took that seat

The Biden administration is flouting a law that requires it to produce a report on the number of jobs lost by canceling the Keystone XL pipeline, in addition to describing how its action may have affected energy costs. The roughly $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden in November included a provision mandating the Department of Energy to produce a report to Congress detailing the impact to American jobs and energy as a result of Mr. Biden’s decision to end the pipeline. The legislation allowed Energy Department Secretary Jennifer Granholm 90 days to provide the information to Congress.
