Besides being a black woman at a time when the Biden administration is publicly committed to appointing a disproportionate number of black women, economist Lisa D. Cook’s prime qualification for her nomination to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve is a celebrated paper on black inventors. Her work raises one of the more troubling issues in political philosophy.
While most economists are agreed that the capitalist system generates more wealth than any other, what if capitalism can never generate what is now called “equity”: equal outcomes by race and sex?
What if—no matter how thoroughly any and all discrimination, abuse, and unfairness is rooted out of the capitalist system—blacks and

Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas is beating the female competition in the pool, but she may also be boosting the GOP’s chances of winning in November at the ballot box.
Rep. Vicky Hartzler, a candidate for the Republican Senate nomination in Missouri, released an ad Monday criticizing the participation of Thomas and other male-born athletes in girls’ and women in competitive sports.“Meet William Thomas, ranked #462 in men’s swimming. Meet Lia Thomas, ranked #1 in women’s swimming. Only one problem: It’s the same person,” said Ms. Hartzler in the 30-second spot called “Coach.”

The Drudge Report spent yesterday saying war being imminent in Ukraine.
Nancy Pelosi said, "We think that an assault on Ukraine is an assault on democracy."
No, having one of your Palace Guards kill an unarmed protester in cold blood is a real threat to our constitutional republic.
She also said, "We understand the loss of life, the damage, the collateral damage to civilians, to military and the rest are severe if he decides to invade."
Good, she can send her son Paul Jr. and Biden can send Hunter to spill their blood.

Ottawa police chief Peter Sloly resigned from his position Tuesday, multiple reports confirmed, after weeks of continued protests against Wuhan coronavirus restrictions by Freedom Convoy truckers, a day after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked emergency powers.
Sloly, criticised by many opposed to the Freedom Convoy protests over his handling of the situation in downtown Ottawa, resigned Tuesday after alleged conflicts with colleagues in the Ottawa Police Service as well as conflicts with members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Sources, according to a report from Canadian broadcaster CBC, indicated that Sloly had a short temper and berated senior police officials. He allegedly raised his voice

The Russian government claimed on Tuesday that several military units have completed “scheduled drills” along border with Ukraine and will now return to their permanent bases, bringing their armor and artillery with them.
Russian officials taunted the Biden administration by claiming the redeployment “humiliated” Western war hysterics, while Ukrainian and NATO military officials said they did not see any immediate sign of Russian forces actually pulling back from the border.
Russia’s state-run Tass news agency quoted Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov’s claim that Russian troops were packing their gear and preparing to depart on Wednesday morning.

Ottawa’s police chief Peter Sloly has resigned, according to a tweet by an Ottawa city councillor.
Riley Brockington says the official announcement will be made by the Police Services Board after a meeting that’s closed to the public.
Ottawa’s police board said it would hold a public meeting to address the matter today at 2:30 p.m.
The news comes amid the ongoing protests in Ottawa against the government’s COVID-19 mandates.
Prior to becoming chief of the Ottawa Police Service, Sloly was a partner at Deloitte, as well as deputy chief with the Toronto Police Service.

Just four days after the Republican-controlled Kansas legislature approved the state’s 2022 congressional reapportionment map, Democrats are asking a county court to strike it down.
The complaint was filed on Feb. 14 in Wyandotte County District Court by attorneys from the Grissom Miller Law Firm of Kansas City, Missouri, and the Elias Law Group of Washington D.C. on behalf of several Kansas residents and activist group Loud Light.
The Elias Law Group is headed by Democrat election lawyer and strategist Marc Elias, who served as attorney for presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Elias is widely credited for engineering election law changes in key swing states that helped Democrats in the 2020 election,

Brian Laundrie’s full autopsy and forensic reports (pdf) were released by the District Twelve Medical Examiner Monday in Florida on Monday, providing more details about the circumstances around his death.
The report included details about the 23-year-old’s belongings, which were found in plain sight along a trail in the Carlton Reserve near North Port, Florida. The water line that was seen on nearby trees was evidence that approximately 3 feet of water previously kept Laundrie’s remains hidden from view from officials.
Investigators also used a metal detector to discover a projectile embedded in the ground about 50 feet from where Laundrie’s skull fragments were located, according to the report. They also found

Beyond the blockbuster news from Friday’s special counsel filing in the Spygate investigation, there were several additional interesting points of note, especially when the motion is read against information previously known. Here are eight assorted such items.
1. Was Joffe Using a Pretext to Surveil Trump?
In the motion, the special counsel’s office stressed that Rodney Joffe’s internet company “had come to access and maintain dedicated servers for the EOP [Executive Office of the President of the United States] as part of a sensitive arrangement whereby it provided DNS resolution services to the EOP.”This fact proves fascinating when read against the Michael Sussmann indictment that explained why Joffe had provided the Georgia

New filings from Special Counsel John Durham on Friday revealed that Hillary Clinton’s campaign lawyers paid a tech company to “infiltrate” servers at Trump Tower and access private information that could be used against the Republican candidate by the Democrats, corporate press, and even the federal government.(snip)While Sussmann and especially Elias remain loyal to Clinton and refuse to budge over her scandalous attempts to secure the presidency, other prominent Clinton allies have moved on to the Biden administration.
President Joe Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan was another key player in promoting the Russian collusion hoax, and he should be fired for scamming Americans on Clinton’s behalf.

Enemies of Donald Trump surveilled the internet traffic at Trump Tower, at his New York City apartment building, and later at the executive office of the president of the United States, then fed disinformation about that traffic to intelligence agencies hoping to frame Trump as a Russia-connected stooge.
A tangential filing on Friday in the criminal case against former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann revealed these new details uncovered by Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation. (snip) During Sussmann’s September 19, 2016 meeting with Baker, Sussmann allegedly provided the FBI general counsel information that purported to show the existence of a secret communication channel

A federal judge on Feb. 12 blocked a key climate initiative that was signed by President Joe Biden on his first day in office last year.
U.S. District Judge James Cain blocked the president’s January 2021 executive order that would factor in an alleged “social cost” for emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide when policymakers create rules.
“The Court agrees that the public interest and balance of equities weigh heavily in favor of granting a preliminary injunction,” Cain wrote(snip)
Biden’s order, the judge added, “will harm Plaintiff States’ ability to purchase affordable energy to carry out their sovereign functions”
