Chicago - An 11-year-old boy was charged in connection with an armed carjacking last November in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood on the Far Southwest Side. The boy, who has not been identified because he is a minor, was accused of taking a car at gunpoint from two women on Nov. 19, 2021 in the 1100 block of South Harding Street, police said. During the investigation, the 11-year-old was spotted inside another vehicle that was reported stolen from the Lawndale neighborhood on Nov. 13, 2021, police said. (Snip) He is the second 11-year-old charged with carjacking in the past three months.

Comments:

Mount Greenwood is (was) a fairly safe neighborhood. It's home to many police, firemen and other city employees who are forced to live in Chicago.

They're getting started early. It is a time honored street gang tactic for younger and younger defendants to commit carjackings, even murder, because authorities are resistant to prosecuting grammar schoolers, even for the worst crimes. If one's parents haven't taught wrong from right by age 6, that lesson is unlikely to be learned, ever. In an episode of the First 48 Hours Tulsa homicide had to stop one 16-year-old who looked 12 after he had murdered committed a murder in a home invasion, had raped and robbed an elderly woman in another house, and accompanied another robbery victim to the ATM. All in one day. After LE had scooped him up and was interrogating him, the kid didn't appear to have any emotions. He was dead inside at an age he should have been preparing for life. I believe that the court, when it encountered this ice cold youth, culled him. Put him away for life. At 16. He merited that, or better still, the gurney.

A gun pointed at two women. Forget this is a supposed 'child'. Do the crime, with a weapon, do the time, in the Big House. Let him out of a juvenile facility at 21 he'll be pulling that trigger.

i used to know a post grad student who worked for a professor friend who was threatened with a knife in a robbery near his apartment by what he said looked like a couple of 10-11 year old black kids. When the confronted him, an athletic 25ish guy, asked for money, he refused, and in the ensuing attack he knocked both down with punches, but got an abdominal stab wound. He walked to the nearby emergency room and was quickly treated. Fortunately not a serious wound, maybe an inch deep and an inch wide. Some "little kids" are actually dangerous. Thinking otherwise can be a serious error in tactics. An 11 year old with a gun or knife can kill.

A friend/classmate from graduate school had been a parole officer in New York State. She said she was fearless in dealing with her clients, but was really scared when she went into slum neighborhoods and was confronted by pre-teeners. (She was white, by the way.)

When 10 and 11 year olds start doing these crimes, it is time to start charging the parent(s) as accessories for failing to keep a lid on their brats!! Either raise your kids right and pay attention to what they are doing or keep your legs closed !! Otherwise, you can join them behind bars!!

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg's new National Roadway Safety Strategy (NRSS) promotes speed cameras nationwide to make our roads safer. But research shows that speed cameras are subject to error and actually end up serving as a means to generate government revenue.(Snip) However, the cameras can commit errors when it comes to actually ticketing the right offenders. This can be a problem for drivers—but a windfall for enforcers. In Chicago, where speed cameras are abundant, the camera program improperly gave out over $2.4 million in fines from 2013 to 2015. Using a random sample analysis, the Chicago Tribune estimated the number of bad tickets to be somewhere around 110,000.

Make no mistake, the recent Joe Rogan vs. Spotify scandal is not about COVID and what constitutes proper medical protocols to fight it. It’s about the future of free speech in America. White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s statement on Tuesday, directing Big Tech and Spotify to do “more” to eradicate alleged COVID “misinformation” on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, suggests that the future of the First Amendment is bleak. A representative of a ruling party dictating to a private company what content is “accurate” and what is not, is a clear sign that the US government has embraced censorship. Most “either/or” questions are designed to make you choose, but sometimes the correct answer is “both.” When dealing with someone like President Joe Biden, it’s not always possible to know the answer to a simple question: is this man stupid, or is he just a liar? There is ample evidence of both, almost always, but the exact tilt of a scale and in which direction it points for the majority is not always clear. As such, you are sometimes left wondering which it is, but there is little doubt it is at least one and usually some combination of both. So what has me asking this?

At least 130 congregations have quietly walked away from the United Methodist Church in a schism over the denomination’s planned acceptance of same-sex marriage and homosexual clergy. The breakaway congregations are keeping their church property thanks to a “conscience clause” enacted by the group’s legislative assembly in 2019. The United Methodist Church General Conference, the church’s governing body, is expected this year to approve a separation plan that would create two denominations: one affirming bans on gay clergy and same-sex marriage, and one permitting homosexual clergy and same-sex marriage. That move has been postponed because of the pandemic and might be delayed again.
