Schadenfreude overload on virtue-signaling

Few things delight me more than watching climate cultists with Big Plans to change the way we live running headlong into reality and discovering that their ideas just don't work. The story of Heidi Harmon, who stepped down from being mayor of San Luis Obispo, California last August to battle climate change, is one to savor. (snip) After multiple attempts to find a working charging station in San Jose, Harmon realized charging the car would take up to seven hours and there was no way she could make the rally. Harmon posted multiple videos about her difficulties in traveling in an all-electric vehicle. She discusses calling the police

A friend of ours got a Tesla as a company car for several months. During that time, he and his wife decided to take a 400-mile trip to another state. What they discovered was that an 400-mile, 8-hour trip in a gasoline car became a 12+ hour trip in a Tesla with frequent recharging stops. They didn't wait until the battery was dead, but instead stopped frequently enough that their rechargings only took 45 minutes or so. Another point - he never parked it in their garage, and later told us that he knew someone who's Tesla set the house on fire.

It is an amazing video. Beyond belief. The Gullibles believe that the world was made for their convenience and are clueless that it’s convenient only to the extent of a successful civilization. Really lady, you should form a “transitional assistance” volunteer group to assist electric car owners to find charging stations. Until they are as ubiquitous as you think they should be. That would be “doing the right thing.” But you prefer buying what you of as stylish sweat shirts and attending rallies for you social networking. She's a total idiot. The car with auto navigate you to the nearest available super charger. There are zillions of super chargers in that area. It's like 2 buttons then just follow the driving directions. Yes, a long trip in a Tesla is a bad idea in many places but that area is not one of them.

Way back in 2012, I was on a business trip to the UK and caught a radio show on which 2 guys recounted their experience in a test drive of an electric car from London to Edinburgh. It was hilarious. This was in November and the guys could not run the heater in the car if they wanted to drive more than 2 hours without stopping to recharge. The trip wound up taking them a couple of days because they didn’t want to freeze. That one 20 minute radio segment told me all i ever need to know about electric cars.

The truth is that the Second American Civil War is...almost over. Unlike the first one, the Democrats appear to be a near lock to win. Leftists, through a combination of brilliant projectionist strategy and callously evil use of their political opponents' naïveté, decency, and tolerance, have transformed America's institutions. They have weaponized them and used them against their less aggressive fellow citizens. In the process, they have transformed Americans, their beliefs and expectations, too. Much like the Chinese Communist Party, they own nearly all the levers of influence and power

It’s becoming ever more apparent that the government health intelligentsia’s efforts to protect Americans from COVID have been a complete failure. That’s why you’ve heard nothing about its success. (snip) There are two ways to look at this argument to end masking, lockdowns, and vaccine requirements. The vaccines are proving to be a constantly moving target. (snip) What if it turns out that they’re not even a therapeutic? What if you get more sick, not less sick, from the vaccination? Data out of Scotland suggests that this is a real possibility: Scottish data shows that the COVID-19 age-standardized case rate is highest among the two-dose vaccinated and lowest among unvaccinated! It further shows this trend of negative efficacy for the double-vaccinated persisting for hospitalizations and deaths. Something is very wrong here, and together with other data points, it raises concerning questions about the negative effect of waning antibodies, constant boosting, and the consequences of a leaky vaccine

Washington—Republicans’ faith in science is falling as Democrats rely on it even more, with a trust gap in science and medicine widening substantially during the COVID-19 pandemic, new survey data shows. It’s the largest gap in nearly five decades of polling by the General Social Survey, a widely respected trend survey conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago that has been measuring confidence in institutions since 1972. That is unsurprising to more than a dozen scientists reached for comment by The Associated Press, but it concerns many of them. Science used to be something all Americans would get behind, Rice University historian Douglas Brinkley said.
