UK citizen Malik Faisal Akram, who had a known history of extreme behaviour stretching back over 20 years was known to British spy agency MI5 but had been judged as no longer posing a threat to the public in 2020, reports in UK media claim. Malik Faisal Akram, 44, flew to the United States after Christmas 2021, and weeks later took hostages at the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue in Colleyville, Texas. He was shot dead by law enforcement officials at the scene. Yet questions remain unanswered over how Akram was able to travel and gain access to a handgun given his long history of extremist behaviour.

One of the biggest risks we have in our society is "intelligent services" both here and abroad. Sometimes they need to kill an agent or a CI....for the greater good of the agency. It happened to Ghislaine Maxwell's father and likely Jeffrey too.

Think about the number of times we hear that "the government" professionals have had subjects "on their radar" and missed the threat posed. They CANNOT be right all the time. So one would think that the objective would be to reduce the risk exposure by limiting avenues used by attackers before like, say, importing thousands of (mostly unvetted) fanatical adherents of the one "religion" that espouses the doctrine of jihad. But that would be *phobic, and politically icky. Get ready for more attacks by other jihad escorted into our communities. Many more, I fear.

Those radical Islamist extremists are like pit bull dogs, you never know when they will attack out of the blue. The Western intelligence, law enforcement, and security services should always take that trait into consideration as they make their evaluations. The numerous so-called “blue on blue” incidents perpetrated by Islamists have shown that over the years.

Get ready to learn more Greek letters. Scientists warn that omicron’s whirlwind advance practically ensures it won’t be the last version of the coronavirus to worry the world. Every infection provides a chance for the virus to mutate, and omicron has an edge over its predecessors: It spreads way faster despite emerging on a planet with a stronger patchwork of immunity from vaccines and prior illness. That means more people in whom the virus can further evolve. Experts don’t know what the next variants will look like or how they might shape the pandemic, but they say there’s no guarantee the sequels of omicron will cause milder

Democrats doubled down Tuesday on changing the Senate filibuster, despite authoring a 2017 letter in support of the long-established 60-vote threshold for certain legislation. In 2017, 61 senators penned a bipartisan letter to then-Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., urging them to preserve the filibuster as a way to promote bipartisanship and maintain the Senate as the "world’s greatest deliberative body." Ernby had been a vocal critic of government vaccination mandates and was herself unvaccinated according to her family and friends.
