Democrats defend flip-flopping on 2017
pledge to preserve filibuster

Democrats doubled down Tuesday on changing the Senate filibuster, despite authoring a 2017 letter in support of the long-established 60-vote threshold for certain legislation. In 2017, 61 senators penned a bipartisan letter to then-Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., urging them to preserve the filibuster as a way to promote bipartisanship and maintain the Senate as the "world’s greatest deliberative body." Pressed Tuesday at a news conference on whether they were hypocrites for now urging a rollback of the filibuster, Democrats said much has changed in the nearly five years since that letter, citing the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol to stop

Comments:

I can't believe the Democrats would lie to us but Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., also said much is different since she signed the letter in 2017
Yeah, Sociocrats are in charge now.

Just understand that they (i.e. The Democrats) intend to keep stealing elections till they have absolute power. The question of voters' wrath and being turned out of office is simply not in their plans and calculations. Once this sinks in all pieces begin to fall into place. People like Trump, DeSantis understand this and want to stop them. People like McConnell or Romney understand this too but their goal is to see what share they can get out of it. That's the difference.

In Orange County, California, Deputy District Attorney Kelly Ernby recently passed away due to complications from COVID. Ernby had been a vocal critic of government vaccination mandates and was herself unvaccinated according to her family and friends. This led to the predictable, ghoulish end-zone dancing on social media that we regularly hear from supporters of mandates and immunity passports. While most people in the media are compassionate enough (or at least politically sensible enough) to condemn such callous behavior, the Los Angeles times managed to find someone to take the opposite position.

Back in 1998, sci-fi TV series The X-Files aired an episode called “Kill Switch” about an AI gone rogue. Told when the internet was still accessed by most using dial-up modems, it was a fascinating tale of technology run amuck, a message about not handing too much of your life over to the digital world. While it might also seem like a sci-fi tale, soon enough the United States federal government could force automakers to install kill switches authorities can access and use to shut down any newer vehicle. To many, that might sound like a wonderful idea. After all, we’ve seen wanted criminals who

There are never-ending stories and there are never-ending stories. There is no better example of the latter than Nancy Pelosi’s continuing obsession with the January 6 Capitol “insurrection” and her subsequent silly Jan. 6 witch hunt. Now, we learn that Madam Speaker plans to continue her “hearings” into the new year. Publicly. The question is, why? Pelosi’s Stage 4 Trump Derangement Syndrome affliction has raged for at least five years, everybody knows that. But at least when the Russian “collusion” nonsense finally and conclusively proved to be a hoax, she mostly let it go. At least, publicly. But Jan 6. occupies a different twisted crevasse of

Chinese Communist Party media confirmed on Tuesday that local officials in Guangxi, southern China, organized a public shaming session to parade four men in front of the public who had allegedly violated Chinese coronavirus lockdown protocols. Videos of the incident, which reportedly occurred in Jingxi city, began circulating on Twitter on Tuesday with little context. Jingxi is in southern China, nearly 1,000 miles from northern Xi’an, the city Chinese Communist Party officials claim is the epicenter of the current national coronavirus outbreak. Authorities locked down Xi’an, a key historical site for ancient Christian archaeology, on the day before Christmas and have since admitted that China is currently enduring its most

CNN medical analyst Dr. Leana Wen said Wednesday on CNN’s “Newsroom” that President Joe Biden should “go further” in placing restrictions on Americans who have not gotten COVID vaccines. Wen said, “I think what we will see with Omicron is a very large number of infections due to Covid-19.” She continued, “The question, though, is, are we going to see a decoupling of infections with hospitalizations and death? That would be ideal, the entire point of vaccination, the main point of vaccination, I should say, is to reduce severe illness. And so, if we’re able to avoid overwhelming our health care systems,

I’m shocked. I would have thought proper pandemic protocol is to find out beforehand whether someone is unvaccinated and then not invite them in the first place. Maybe call them up on video chat and give them a thumbs down to their face, in the manner of a Roman emperor. Really, though, what was Fauci supposed to say here? “Sure, roll the dice”? Dr. Fauci says Americans should ban their family members from holiday gatherings if they are unvaxxed: /snip for tweet/ There’s a new COVID variant spreading with insane speed. People with immunity seem to shake it off but it’s anyone’s guess how it behaves in the non-immune.

The Washington Post is having a rough one as it attempts to console those who followed all COVID-19 restrictions, got the jabs and the boosters, and are still catching the virus. There is a certain contingent of people who pride themselves on being double-gloved, double-masked, and double vaxxed just to go outside to get the mail. Thanks to the rampant new Omicron variant, even these people are coming down with COVID, and they appear to be having a difficult time coping with it. Apparently, now that everyone is catching it, including the “sophisticated” crowd, some sympathy for the sick is warranted.

Physicians who still practice medicine cannot afford to write or say the following for fear of being canceled. As a retired physician, I cannot be coerced to keep silent with threats to my medical license or hospital privileges. COVID-19 is probably the greatest and most successful swindle in history. By comparison, Carlo Ponzi and Bernie Madoff were pikers. The COVID scam has affected most of earth’s 7.8 billion inhabitants, consumed trillions of dollars, and achieved a level of government control unprecedented in modern democracies. The COVID “pandemic of fear” is a con, perpetrated by those in power to extend and expand their power. Their scheme is simple.

Most Americans today have a romanticized (and extraordinarily narrow) historical understanding of the conflict that we call the Civil War. In their imaginations, it goes something like this: With passions inflamed by a moral renaissance in the North regarding the institution of slavery in the South, the two sides decided to go to war over the issue. In the end, the evil South was righteously razed by the armies of the North, and thus, slavery was ended, and the former slaves made American citizens, as Abraham Lincoln intended.
