Texas judge rules apprehension of illegal
immigrant by soldiers during Gov Greg
Abbott's 'Operation Lone Star' along Rio
Grande was UNCONSTITUTIONAL, opening floodgates
for claims from others arrested

A county judge in Texas dealt a blow to Governor Greg Abbott's controversial 'Operation Lone Star' after ruling his national guard's apprehension of an illegal immigrant unconstitutional Thursday. Operation Lone Star was created by Abbott amidst a wave of illegal immigrants from Central America crossing the US-Mexico border. It deploys law enforcement in areas human and drug smugglers are known to use. The ruling could see the initiative stifled with attorneys saying that it could open a path for other immigrants to challenge their detention.(Snip)On Thursday, Judge Jan Soifer ruled in favor of Jesus Alberto Guzman Curipoma, an Ecuadorian engineer arrested in September and charged with criminal trespassing.

The judge was completely wrong and completely ignored the charges at hand. Our people are arresting them for trespassing and violating state law - not for invasion of the country, so what Texas is doing has nothing to do with Federal Law which would NOT be broken anyway. If the invader wanted asylum, they should have requested it at the first country they came to, which is the legal way. Even when the "resident" violates federal law by not stopping the invasion, the invader still does not have the right to trespass. The criminals's lawyer and the judge should both be sent to the border and have to work personally as servants for the criminals they think we should should have to serve,

I'll bet the judge has no idea of the difference between a civil apprehension and a lawful arrest. the military personnel on site were probably sworn in as temporary sheriff's deputies but if not the case, it is completely legal for a civilian to hold or apprehend someone who is violating a law until the police arrive to conduct an investigation and affect an arrest. this judge should be un-elected and removed from the bench by the voters who elected him

As several other posters have referenced, county judges in Texas are VERY often not lawyers. The are often ordinary citizens that run for a local office that only take some training after they have been elected. As we all know, the people that have enough time on their hands, or just want, to have locally elected office are leftist who are little more than locusts anyway. There are a few good ones - I do not want to take away from them.

Dog owners face £1,000 fines if they take pets for walks near roads or cycle paths with leads longer than three feet. From the end of March, people whose dog leads are too long face on-the-spot fines of £100 or prosecution. The policy from a Devon council does not apply in parks or on beaches. Dog owners should also use a fixed-type lead when they are out strolling. The move is a new extension of a public space protection order (PSPO) introduced by Teignbridge District Council in 2019. This was to 'reduce irresponsible dog ownership and make the area cleaner and greener'.

A startling number of New Yorkers have dropped dead in subway trains and stations this year—and accounts from police and transit workers suggest the bulk of them were homeless people who turned to mass transit for shelter. Six people without IDs have been found dead in the subway so far in 2022, a Daily News analysis of police records show. At least five other people who died in the subways this year—including one from an apparent drug overdose—were not believed to be homeless, cops said. That’s a significant uptick, MTA data show. Two people were found dead on subway trains or platforms between Jan. 1 and mid-February

Most “either/or” questions are designed to make you choose, but sometimes the correct answer is “both.” When dealing with someone like President Joe Biden, it’s not always possible to know the answer to a simple question: is this man stupid, or is he just a liar? There is ample evidence of both, almost always, but the exact tilt of a scale and in which direction it points for the majority is not always clear. As such, you are sometimes left wondering which it is, but there is little doubt it is at least one and usually some combination of both. So what has me asking this?
