Caught under a black sky and pouring rain, laden with groceries and a dysfunctional scooter, one elderly Florida woman needed an everyday hero. Instead of one, she got four.
In a world where it may seem that genuine kindness and heroism are among the quality goods suffering from supply chain problems, these unexpected heroes were hanging out at a 7-Eleven in Seminole County, Florida. The four young men, seasonal workers doing a construction project (snip), were on their break when they saw the woman in need.
While others may have coveted precious break time, these men left what they were doing and pushed the septuagenarian woman, her scooter, and her groceries uphill

There are decent people left in this world. Way too few, but that there are ANY is heartening.
I'm very ill myself, and very weak... Tried to go to Walmart about a month ago. and about 20 feet to the doors, about to collapse, and quite obviously so, leaning over a shopping cart to keep from falling, gasping for breath. Must have been 40 people pass by studiously ignoring me. Finally one nice lady offered to help, even to shop for me while I waited in my vehicle.
And this, in a rural southwest town that used to be known for friendly, conservative people.

It's good to see a positive human interest story every now and then.

I question the uphill part in Florida. That there are still good people out there, not at all.

Back in the 1950's Boy Scouts used to carry their Scout medal in their left pants pocket and transfer it to their right pants pocket after performing their daily good deed. This tradition was an integral part of my Scout troop. These four men earned their daily good deed.

For the person questioning whether it was uphill, the photos show a grade (we’re not talking the High Sierras here!) and the eyewitness who photographed and reported this incident said it was uphill. I thank God I am not a cynic who doubts everything…even what I can see with my eyes. Clue to the grade is the relationship between the area where they are pushing her and the houses in the background. And their body attitudes. Legs. Have a nice day.

My brothers were like that. They'd go to elderly neighbors' and shovel their walks and driveways. And now I have nephews of the same caliber. They learned primary Christian ethic: compassion, love, selflessness, thinking of others.
They learned at home, certainly from my Mother, the most wonderful person I have ever known. She demonstrated her faith in everything she did and said, kindness, very strong, but kind and loving.
Generations are now rising into prominence and too often show ruthlessness, conscienceless cruelty and just plain selfishness. These young men are the exception. We can only pray that there really are more but simply thus far unheralded because they are GOOD.

My guess is they will be receiving a call from Governor DeSantis & former President Trump ....I always try to help the elderly even though I'm elderly.

I really feel lucky to live in a rural county where people help others. A year ago I fell in Menard's parking lot and within a minute I had six people standing over me wanting to help. One was an EMT and directed the others in getting me up, checking me out and giving me help getting my purse and purchases into the car. It was actually a little funny to see a guy standing near me holding my purse which he'd picked off the ground.

How very sad that a kind gesture becomes ‘news’.

And they held an umbrella to protect her and her groceries from the rain. These are the kind of young men I have raised and always known. We hear too much about the other kind. Nice photo shows them in action...
