It's awful when anyone gets rolled over by one of these destructive natural events, but just so much sadder when they affect children. Good that she is bouncing back. The Trumps are good people.

The personal extremely meaningful things President Trump has done for people have amplified the sad lack of such gestures ever shown by the other former First Families. They prefer to be treated as royalty.

Warms the heart: FTA: ~~ "Moore also posted the touching letter the former president and his wife sent to lift the little girl's spirit during this hard moment in her life. 'We are so encouraged by the strength and determination you have shown during this very difficult time. You will remain in our hearts for complete care and comfort as you continue to recover,' the letter read. 'With your steadfast spirit, and the unwavering strength and support of your wonderful family and many friends, your future potential is limitless."~~

Microsoft Edge is preventing me from watching the video - at least the one related to Avalinn's joy at receiving a gift from the Trumps. The video interview with the great aunt was very touching. She is articulate and managed to maintain her composure despite describing a terrible tragedy. We will be praying for this family.

Jim Jordan, appearing on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures” program, had some harsh words for the Brandon Administration, which he said has “done everything wrong. Beginning his remarks, he warned that “Elizabeth Warren seems to be hinting at price controls.”And what does that mean for the average American? As he put it, “And we know what that will do. That will only exacerbate the problems we see out there.”That is, of course, the opposite of what the average American wants. As Jordan put it, “So, in simple words, I think the American people would like — they’d like safe streets, they’d like affordable gas, and they’d like freedom.”

Leaving California for Texas is such a conformist thing to do these days, but I did for a short vacation to America. In Houston, I went into an H.E.B. and was talking about California to someone who was giving away free samples of beef – having conversations with random people is a huge difference from LA – and I had to reassure the guy I was going home. He seemed relieved. I’ve been coming to Texas intermittently for about 30 years, and it’s never seemed more crowded. The place is packed – the roads, the stores, the airport. Back home in LA, it’s empty and depressing

According to a friend at a Christmas party, “obscene” wealth is the kind that’s unneeded. His example was a 100-foot yacht. “Nobody needs a 100-foot yacht,” he intoned. I agreed that nobody needs a 100-foot yacht. But nobody needs a glass of expensive chardonnay either. I kindly offered to relieve him of the one he was holding. The only things that are truly needed by humans are food, shelter, simple clothing and occasional medical treatment. Everything beyond that is unneeded and, therefore, under my friend’s definition, obscene. So “obscene” wealth must mean something other than the unneeded kind. But what? For guidance in defining obscenity, let’s look at sex
