The Food and Drug Administration has authorized a new pill from Pfizer that the company says cuts the risk of hospitalization and death in coronavirus patients by 89 percent.
The drug, Paxlovid, received an emergency use authorization for use in patients 12 years old and up who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are at high risk, the FDA said Wednesday.
Paxlovid will be administered alongside a widely used HIV drug. A study of 1,200 patients released last month showed that the drug eliminates nearly nine out of 10 hospitalizations for coronavirus patients.

And this has been tested against Omicron? So it cuts risk for hospitalization and death against what amounts to getting a common cold - yea, right.

Seem to recall reading this pill is essentially repackaged Ivermectin. Is that true?

WOW! What a shock. I wonder what the over/under line was on this being approved?

Nah, there have been a LOT of folks who already have the proper home treatment, and many have used it successfully. Ivermectin and doxycycline, and zinc, plus some other OTC things.
Not a chance I would get this stuff.

Could Paxlovid just be repackaged Ivermectin? Only the Pharmacist knows.

Have to be sick to get it.
So far, the Lady Chihuahua and I have avoided COVID. We stay away from crowded venues that are elbow room only. We also take Vitamin D.

Those who shun the zombie jab will be pleased to know paxlovid's active ingredient is loaded on a delightful, fruit-flavored graphene hydroxide base.

Last I looked, #6, it is a protease inhibitor, and not a version of ivermectin.
A former colleague and current friend is an MD and research scientist in Ukraine, and introduced me to their protease inhibitor, which is sold as an OTC item for treatment of colds and flu in Ukraine. She reports that she has treated a number of COVID patients with it at the first stages and had 100% success, her words "all passed through the disease easily". But your doctor won't know about it and if you told him/her, they wouldn't likely use it...."off label", ya know.
I already have had that inexpensive, FDA approved (for a different medical application) in hand for more than 10 years. It will be part of my treatment, if I or my wife gets this virus, which is seeming to be less likely, but who knows.
I had to chuckle when I read how their "wonder drug" worked....same way as the old, cheap, FDA approved generic that I have in hand. Aminocaproic acid, brand name in USA is Amicar, used for post operative bleeding control in the USA under FDA approval.
There are many papers written in Ukraine and Russia, some in English, about it's effectiveness against viruses. The FDA approval just verifies that it doesn't harm patients. It interferes with virus's replication and entering the cells....all viruses, because it disrupts a fundamental part of the viral replication process and entering cells.
Since it's an existing generic...nobody will pay the millions for an official test against viruses...no money to be made, so we don't get another cheap and effective antiviral treatment. And most docs in the USA are too busy to even bother reading obscure research papers from some overseas place like Ukraine.

Why use this in conjunction with an HIV drug.?
Isn't that using the HIV drug for something it wasn't made for.
How come we cant use HCQ and Ivermectin because it wasn't made for Covid, but Pfizer can use an HIV drug

Looks like they threw an extra 4% so they beat the many ivermectin studies showing 85% reduction in hospitalization from a drug with decades of safety data. They foolishly think they should give u something more for thousands of dollars more; however, it has been proven the likes of fauchi will push it for big pharma regardless of the safety and efficacy.

Yes, PHIZERMECTIN is a protease inhibitor, just like ivermectin.
Phizermectin inhibits the same portion of the virus as ivermectin.
Phizermectin is moderately different than ivermectin so as to moderately target COVID better than ivermectin.
Said moderate improvement resulting in a $500/dose patentable drug vs. pennies, which is exactly why there was such fake fuss about ivermectin.

Many thanks 9 for that info. Provides perhaps another reason Pres. Brainstem wants the Russkies to take over the Ukraine. A potential profit destroyer.

Since Salvation Army bells are mostly silent this Christmas, that noise you hear is most likely the sweet clanging sound of cash registers adding to the sweet retirement for people like Fauci. Lord, how the money rolls in!

Notice this pill got an emergency use authorization for use, NOT FDA approval.
That means it is part of those meds you can't sue the company for should anything go wrong.
If it were so good, why not FDA approval???

So what Pfizer is saying is that it doesn't trust its own vaccine?

If my choices are at home care using something like this (or some of the already known treatments), I would much rather do this than get the clot shot. This has been ready for months, but FDA has been dragging their feet on EUA approval. Merck has their own that is also expected to be approved within days.
