Salvation Army's Donors Withdraw Support
in Response to Racial 'Wokeness' Initiative

Original Article

Posted By: earlybird, 11/28/2021 4:31:47 PM

As The Salvation Army launches its Red Kettle Campaign this holiday season, some of its long-time donors are withdrawing their support from the 156-year old charitable organization citing its newly embraced "woke" ideology as the reason. Of great concern to loyal supporters and faithful Salvationists is the initiative dubbed "Let's Talk About Racism." In a nutshell, its curriculum outlines the Christian church's alleged racial collusion and provides action steps to analyze and combat racism through an "anti-racist" lens while incorporating Critical Race Theory.(snip) why then should members of an organization built by the Christian faith to actually assist people of all races in need, be repentant of behavior

Comments:

How can they repent for something they never did?

I will give nothing to the Woke Salvation Army this year. Look for local charities that help the homeless and disadvantaged. In Tampa we have Metropolitan Ministries which changes peoples lives by feeding, housing, and rehabilitating people with job skills to live on their own. We also have the Shepherd Center in North Pinellas county which does wonderful work. Neither is woke, so far!

They lost me. Always put money in a kettle and wrote a nice check when one of our local radio stations held an all day radio fundraiser. Not any more. Tired of being told I am the source of everything that is wrong with the black community. They need to look inward. Not stabbing me in the back with your hand out. I will find another charity.

A good organization made a terrible mistake and will lose a huge amount of support. They will discover the cost of mindless surrender to political correctness. I hope it serves as an example to other nonprofits.

ALL of need to not just withold support but to drop messages in the red kettles as to why. I suggest folded pieces of paper on which is written, 'Get back on message. Christianity is not racist.'

General William Booth would be horrified and disgusted at the way racism has replaced Christianity as the message of the organization he founded.

Ironically, I got a letter from the Salvation Army on Friday. Here's the message I enclosed in the donation envelope: "Here is your sincere apology: I am sorry I donated to your organization every Christmas for as long as I can remember. In fact, I often donated and provided hot coffee to your workers when it was cold out. However, since you now appear to believe that white people are inherently racist and need to apologize to members of your organization and others, I am confident that you would not want my “racist” donation. Good luck with your collections this year!"

afaik it was the Christian churches who ended slavery, and afaik American anti-racists show no interest in the slavery which continues in Africa. We need more, not less Christianty, afaik. How many hundreds of thousands went and died in the US civil war, alone, to end slavery here? Does anyone remember the role of the British navy? The way American wokeists avoid justice towards those who served and died, tempts me to hold them in contempt. But I know Jesus would not like it. What won´t happen, is me taking moral lessons from the wokeists. No. I can barely evade holding them in contempt. Not sure I have succeeded in that.

I downloaded the first page of SA's "Let's Talk About Racism" pamphlet and printed 4 on a page of paper. Cut them up - folded it looks like cash, and I have dropped 5 of them off so far. No more end-of-year donation either. Go Woke, Go Broke. Making up an equal donation to a local inner-city church program.

The racism charge is pretty much a canard. Anyone can achieve success here. If you were poorly brought up you will start out in a hole, there's no doubt. This can be blamed on the parents, or parent. But there's plenty of examples of people, of all races, who have become successful, some wildly. Education, work ethic, etc. is what it takes. You just have to strive. You'd think supposedly smart people and would know this and not fall for all the racism talk..

It's very strange that we have never heard any demoncrats apologize for slavery, the Civil War, segregation, Jim Crow and the Klan. They like to pretend that those were all caused by Republicans, but the Republican Party was created to do away with slavery. Even when they apologize, I will not, because I have never discriminated against anyone.

Of all the organizations to go woke, this might be the most disappointing. Even more so than the NFL. I've always loved the SA, and they always put a smile on my face at this time of year. No more. I walked past a volunteer yesterday at the Wal-Mart, wouldn't even make eye contact. I don't blame them of course, but I will have no part of it. They'll never get another nickel from me.

Suddenly there's a Salvation Army General someplace in a fancy office with staff ? Sort of like the Boy Scouts I guess. I will now find people in my local neighborhood who do good and donate to them. This really hits home with me. One December few years ago, after eating at a restaurant owned by the grandson of a very dear friend, he decline to take payment from my wife and I. When I tried to argue, he said, "just put something in a Christmas Kettle." Walking by a Salvation Army band playing in front of a Sam's Club a few days later I put a couple of Jacksons in their kettle and have done so every year since, sort of in honor of his very fine grandmother, now deceased. Maybe just to feel better about myself, but seemed like a good tradition. I am going to find something else, maybe more local, to give to from now on. Always thought the Salvation Army had a tradition of a greater percentage of their receipts actually going to good use than the more commercial charities like the Red Cross, etc., but "Go Woke, Go Broke" is the bumper sticker we all need to adopt. I would rather put money in the charcoal lighter for my grill than contribute to any outfit feeding the cancel culture cabal.

My local chapter has done so much good in the community. I will continue to help them despite what the suits at the top say or write. The good done by the SA's food banks cannot be measured. Please, be angry with the leadership but think of the local people out of the loop doing their very best to help people regardless of race and even religion.

When the dems responded they were extremely pseudo articulate without actually saying anything!!!! I remember though a few years ago they were being hectored by the usual rabble rousing wokesters. I suspect their stupid capitulation to those communists will now severely impact negatively a once great organization. I'm sure the CEO of TSA is counting on all of those woke donors and lovers of CRT to make up the monetary contributions the organization has received from many of us who will stop donating. I hope he doesn't hold his breath while waiting. Goodbye Salvation Army.

I have spent 33 years helping drunks, dope fiends and convicts find a path and a way up and away from that life. SA has always been their last door that would open, the last place where someone had a meal, a place in out of the cold, wet... a kind word. There was a price, they had to listen to a sermon, one of redemption, not of blame. A place that placed no Blame on anyone's past, but rather focused on individuals choosing their own future. This new crap is not That. One young man I met in the hospital after a call from a friend of his parents. It had been the final straw for them, he had wasted his college years getting wasted, his 5th drunken accident, this time a young lady, a friend of the family's daughter nearly killed as well. They washed their hands of him..when he was released from the hospital and served 90days in the jail, I got him a bed at "Aunt Sally's". He slept on a cot in a big open room with a hundred others, later got a shared room, eventually a place at a halfway house. I made him drop a small gift off on his parents porch for his mother that next Christmas. The following year they let him come to x-mas dinner. 30 years later? He is now President of his Family's business, an international industrial/commercial packaging operation. The checks he has sent to "aunt sally" over the years are generally more than most peoples annual salary. Some years they have been more than most peoples houses, in particular each year that he has had a child born. The year his mother died? It was middle six figures. Two of the top executives at his Corporations are people he 1st met in that cot filled gymnasium(and they are black), many of his hundreds of employees he has personally recruited from those flop houses. They are "given" a chance, but have to "Earn" a position. Repentance, Humility and Gratitude, demonstrated by personal actions are the path they all must travel. Same exact rules apply to every single individual. Race . creed, color never considered in any form. I think this New Sally will not sit well with him.

I have given several thousands to the SA over the last 15 years. I thought they were great particularly because the left hated them because they were Christian which is like garlic to a vampire. The ‘soldiers ‘ make very little which I thought was admirable. The left criticized them because they preached salvation to the old bums and drunks they fed and housed. I doubt a little of the Gospel hurt them but the left said their civil rights were being violated. What a hoot. During the current Ukrainian war, the media has created a mythology that the Left was tough on Vladimir Putin’s Russia. And thus, now it simply continues its hard-nosed efforts in Ukraine. But nothing could be further from the truth. Aside from Biden’s original panic of evacuating American diplomatic personnel from Kyiv, offering a ride out of Ukraine for the Zelenskyy government that would have effectively collapsed his nation’s resistance, and hesitation in selling Ukraine offensive weapons, there is also a prior legacy that had done a great deal of harm. Indeed, many of America’s current difficulties in Ukraine originate from the Obama-Biden Administration’s former disastrous policies toward Russia birthed between 2009-2016.

A new policy was implemented last week by the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), which seeks to collect the addresses of gun purchasers in a bid to comply with new federal law. Federally licensed firearms dealers (FFLs) will now be required to provide the FBI with the personal addresses of individuals who attempt to make a purchase but are denied or have a delayed transaction. The FBI will also provide local law enforcement with details of failed transactions, which include delayed transactions, as well as the personal information of rejected individuals. Earlier, firearms dealers only had to provide a purchaser’s state of residence rather than their full address

A group of U.S. House Republicans on Oct. 7 sent a letter questioning Attorney General Merrick Garland and Secretary of State Antony Blinken over the presence of Chinese service stations in New York City. “We are writing to express our grave concern over reports of the law enforcement presence of the People’s Republic of China in New York City,” (snip) “The Chinese overseas police service station established in New York City earlier this year appears to be a further step of China’s illicit long arm policing on U.S. soil that violates our sovereignty,” Republican Study Committee chairman Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), Reps. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.), Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.), and 18

A federal judge in Texas has issued a ruling that prevents federal mandates from imposing pronouns and unisex bathrooms on employers. In State of Texas v Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Matthew Kacsmaryk, U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Texas in Amarillo, declared the March 2, 2021 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Civil Rights Guidance and June 15, 2021 EEOC guidance unlawful. However, the court stopped short of granting the state’s request for injunctive relief. “Title VII as interpreted in Bostock does not require such accommodations,” wrote Judge Kacsmaryk in his Oct. 1 decision.

Donald Trump is the kingmaker of the Republican Party, and for that reason alone, he remains the best choice for 2024 despite the firestorm of negative media coverage, censorship, and the looming threat of indictment, which have haunted him since being forced out of office in January 2021. In the time since Trump has been gone, Americans have watched their economy tank, their freedoms attacked, and we are now disconcertingly close to an out-and-out ground war with nuclear Russia. Meanwhile, Democrats plan to do irreparable damage to institutions (like the Supreme Court) that have checked the worst excesses of liberal hegemony. The military industrial complex, having been subdued in the

The U.S. Army is scrambling after missing recruitment numbers in 2022 by wide margins. "The Army plans to increase its investment in marketing and is expected to expand a new program for struggling recruits, but leaders on Monday offered few new details on how they’ll fill the ranks after falling far short of recruiting goals this year," the Associated Press reports. "Army Secretary Christine Wormuth told reporters that a new recruiting task force is coming up with ideas. But any new plans would have to gel quickly in order to reverse the dramatically low enlistment numbers over the past year.

Incumbent Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski is in danger of losing the seat she has held for two decades to a challenger from her own party backed by former President Trump. A Republican has roughly a 99% chance to win next month's Alaska senate election, with Republican challenger Kelly C. Tshibaka considered mostly likely to emerge with the victory at 53%, according to election forecaster FiveThirtyEight. Tshibaka, a Trump-backed Republican challenger who previously served as a commissioner of the Alaska Department of Administration, is currently locked in a tight battle with Murkowski after the incumbent senator generated controversy by supporting the impeachment of former President Trump

Former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard announced she left the Democratic Party on Tuesday, denouncing the organization as an "elitist cabal.” Gabbard, who retired from the House of Representatives in 2021, attacked the institution in a nearly 30-minute video posted to her YouTube account. She did not announce plans to join the Republican Party or adopt any other political affiliation, however. "I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoke anti-white racism," Gabbard said in an excerpt posted to Twitter.  CORRECTION*

The Cleveland Indians are the most exciting team in baseball. They have 10 rookies on their 26-man roster. Six others were rookies last year. They play small ball and win. They are managed by Tito Francona Jr., a grandpa who led the Boston Red Sox in 2004 to their first World Series championship in 86 years. Fans in Cleveland shun the Cleveland Indians this year. That's because the team is not the Cleveland Indians. Management caved in to Woke Know Nothings and changed the name to Guardians this year. Attendance was 25th among the 30 major league teams.

When the nuclear war comes – and let’s face it, it seems more likely with each passing day – our masters won’t be burned to ashes in the cities alongside the rest of us. Instead, they’ll be underground in a purpose-built nuclear bunker, where they’ll wait out the cleansing fire of the nuclear warheads and re-emerge to rule the planet. The head of doomsday bunker company – which has a sprawling bunker community in Dakota – claims that ‘bread crumbs’ hint at where a huge bunker complex is located.

The family of a 17-year-old who died over the summer says she passed away from sudden heart problems. Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill.) and his wife said in a statement that Gwen Casten died in June of a sudden cardiac arrhythmia. “In layman’s terms, she was fine, and then her heart stopped,” the grieving parents said. “We don’t know what caused the arrhythmia, and likely never will.” According to the National Liberty of medicine, arrhythmia is an irregular heartbeat. It can refer to a heart that is beating too quickly, too slowly, or with an otherwise irregular pattern.

The very short answer, as revealed in this story published yesterday by the NY Times, is politics. The attempt to build the first bullet train in the US between San Francisco and Los Angeles almost immediately turned into a boondoggle thanks to decisions that made no sense in terms of efficiency or ridership but only in terms of satisfying powerful politicians. The design for the nation’s most ambitious infrastructure project was never based on the easiest or most direct route. Instead, the train’s path out of Los Angeles was diverted across a second mountain range to the rapidly growing suburbs of the Mojave Desert

First Lady Kamala Harris on Monday marked the celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Day on social media, but she ignored Columbus Day. “On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we pay respect to Tribal Nations and indigenous history,” Harris wrote on social media. “Today and every day, let us continue to celebrate and uplift the rich contributions of Indigenous peoples — their leadership has made our country stronger.” At the time of publication, the vice president did not post anything on social media about Columbus Day, as most leftists typically condemn the holiday as racist:

The United Nations is considering sending armed troops to Haiti following a request from the country's government, U.N. officials confirmed on Sunday night. U.N. chief António Guterres said the agency is considering deploying armed forces "to help the country address immense humanitarian concerns." Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry made the request for help to the larger international community as a whole over the weekend because of "the risk of a major humanitarian crisis." Ariel asked for a "specialized armed force" to intervene. Guterres sent a letter to the U.N. Security Council outlining various options for enhanced security support. Haiti is dealing with rising cases of cholera

Concerns over President Joe Biden’s recent very public displays of possibly age-related mental impairments have jumped among voters since mid-summer, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. And these worries aren’t partisan, with a majority of all political groups, including Democrats, now expressing concern. In early August, we asked Americans: “Some people are concerned about President Biden’s mental health. How concerned are you about President Biden’s mental health?” At the time, a number of public displays of unsteadiness, confusion, and verbal gaffes seen in the media suggested to many that the nation’s commander-in-chief’s mental acuity was questionable.

With the November election just weeks away, Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams is dealing with an unusual political problem. She has become a star on the national political stage. But in her own state -- where she has proved in recent presidential and Senate contests that she can get out the vote for Democratic candidates -- she is struggling to gain momentum for her rematch with Republican Governor Brian Kemp. One problem is tepid enthusiasm among a key segment of the Democratic base: Black men. One-third of Black men registered in Georgia haven’t voted in the past several elections, with pollsters
