Salvation Army's Donors Withdraw Support
in Response to Racial 'Wokeness' Initiative

As The Salvation Army launches its Red Kettle Campaign this holiday season, some of its long-time donors are withdrawing their support from the 156-year old charitable organization citing its newly embraced "woke" ideology as the reason.
Of great concern to loyal supporters and faithful Salvationists is the initiative dubbed "Let's Talk About Racism." In a nutshell, its curriculum outlines the Christian church's alleged racial collusion and provides action steps to analyze and combat racism through an "anti-racist" lens while incorporating Critical Race Theory.(snip) why then should members of an organization built by the Christian faith to actually assist people of all races in need, be repentant of behavior

I will give nothing to the Woke Salvation Army this year. Look for local charities that help the homeless and disadvantaged. In Tampa we have Metropolitan Ministries which changes peoples lives by feeding, housing, and rehabilitating people with job skills to live on their own. We also have the Shepherd Center in North Pinellas county which does wonderful work. Neither is woke, so far!

They lost me. Always put money in a kettle and wrote a nice check when one of our local radio stations held an all day radio fundraiser. Not any more. Tired of being told I am the source of everything that is wrong with the black community. They need to look inward. Not stabbing me in the back with your hand out. I will find another charity.

A good organization made a terrible mistake and will lose a huge amount of support. They will discover the cost of mindless surrender to political correctness. I hope it serves as an example to other nonprofits.

We sang at YMCA camp:
Salvation Army, Salvation Army,
Put a nickel in the drum,
Save another drunken bum,
Salvation Army, Salvation Army,
Put a nickel in the drum, and you'll be saved!
No. Never again.

ALL of need to not just withold support but to drop messages in the red kettles as to why. I suggest folded pieces of paper on which is written, 'Get back on message. Christianity is not racist.'

Ironically, I got a letter from the Salvation Army on Friday. Here's the message I enclosed in the donation envelope:
"Here is your sincere apology:
I am sorry I donated to your organization every Christmas for as long as I can remember. In fact, I often donated and provided hot coffee to your workers when it was cold out.
However, since you now appear to believe that white people are inherently racist and need to apologize to members of your organization and others, I am confident that you would not want my “racist” donation.
Good luck with your collections this year!"

afaik it was the Christian churches who ended slavery, and afaik American anti-racists show no interest in the slavery which continues in Africa. We need more, not less Christianty, afaik. How many hundreds of thousands went and died in the US civil war, alone, to end slavery here? Does anyone remember the role of the British navy? The way American wokeists avoid justice towards those who served and died, tempts me to hold them in contempt. But I know Jesus would not like it. What won´t happen, is me taking moral lessons from the wokeists. No. I can barely evade holding them in contempt. Not sure I have succeeded in that.

I downloaded the first page of SA's "Let's Talk About Racism" pamphlet and printed 4 on a page of paper. Cut them up - folded it looks like cash, and I have dropped 5 of them off so far. No more end-of-year donation either. Go Woke, Go Broke. Making up an equal donation to a local inner-city church program.

The racism charge is pretty much a canard. Anyone can achieve success here. If you were poorly brought up you will start out in a hole, there's no doubt. This can be blamed on the parents, or parent. But there's plenty of examples of people, of all races, who have become successful, some wildly. Education, work ethic, etc. is what it takes. You just have to strive. You'd think supposedly smart people and would know this and not fall for all the racism talk..

This makes me sad. We always donate at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I’ve asked them to correct husband’s first name the last few times I’ve sent donations, and they haven’t bothered doing that. So, since I have nothing to apologize for about racism, no donations now.

It's very strange that we have never heard any demoncrats apologize for slavery, the Civil War, segregation, Jim Crow and the Klan. They like to pretend that those were all caused by Republicans, but the Republican Party was created to do away with slavery. Even when they apologize, I will not, because I have never discriminated against anyone.

Of all the organizations to go woke, this might be the most disappointing. Even more so than the NFL. I've always loved the SA, and they always put a smile on my face at this time of year. No more. I walked past a volunteer yesterday at the Wal-Mart, wouldn't even make eye contact. I don't blame them of course, but I will have no part of it. They'll never get another nickel from me.

Time to go local.
SA was a charity that I thought was right. Seemed to me that the donations went to volunteers HELPING people who simply needed HELP.
Suddenly there's a Salvation Army General someplace in a fancy office with staff ?
Sort of like the Boy Scouts I guess.
I will now find people in my local neighborhood who do good and donate to them. Bye bye SA

This really hits home with me. One December few years ago, after eating at a restaurant owned by the grandson of a very dear friend, he decline to take payment from my wife and I. When I tried to argue, he said, "just put something in a Christmas Kettle."
Walking by a Salvation Army band playing in front of a Sam's Club a few days later I put a couple of Jacksons in their kettle and have done so every year since, sort of in honor of his very fine grandmother, now deceased.
Maybe just to feel better about myself, but seemed like a good tradition. I am going to find something else, maybe more local, to give to from now on.
Always thought the Salvation Army had a tradition of a greater percentage of their receipts actually going to good use than the more commercial charities like the Red Cross, etc., but "Go Woke, Go Broke" is the bumper sticker we all need to adopt.
I would rather put money in the charcoal lighter for my grill than contribute to any outfit feeding the cancel culture cabal.

I'm so sorry that a few individuals at the Salvation Army have decided to adopt a woke position on race. I have been a supporter and donor for many years. My local chapter has done so much good in the community. I will continue to help them despite what the suits at the top say or write. The good done by the SA's food banks cannot be measured. Please, be angry with the leadership but think of the local people out of the loop doing their very best to help people regardless of race and even religion.

A previous comment here said something about how theSA could fall for wokeism .. recently, Sen Cruz asked if asking for ID was racist when voting… three dems said yes.. the republicans said no and why! When the dems responded they were extremely pseudo articulate without actually saying anything!!!! They even weren’t hesitant to express’hate’ in their answers…Appears when you confront dems with facts, invariably you get a deer in the headlite look!

There is a reason the Salvation Army now uses containers with coin slots rather than open "kettles" to collect contributions. It could be because "white supremacists" were doing snatch and runs but I doubt it.

The Salvation Army is the only street organization that I would ever donate generously to. But now, not a dime. What at shame. I remember though a few years ago they were being hectored by the usual rabble rousing wokesters. I suspect their stupid capitulation to those communists will now severely impact negatively a once great organization.
I'm sure the CEO of TSA is counting on all of those woke donors and lovers of CRT to make up the monetary contributions the organization has received from many of us who will stop donating. I hope he doesn't hold his breath while waiting. Goodbye Salvation Army.

I have spent 33 years helping drunks, dope fiends and convicts find a path and a way up and away from that life. SA has always been their last door that would open, the last place where someone had a meal, a place in out of the cold, wet... a kind word. There was a price, they had to listen to a sermon, one of redemption, not of blame.
A place that placed no Blame on anyone's past, but rather focused on individuals choosing their own future.
This new crap is not That.
One young man I met in the hospital after a call from a friend of his parents. It had been the final straw for them, he had wasted his college years getting wasted, his 5th drunken accident, this time a young lady, a friend of the family's daughter nearly killed as well. They washed their hands of him..when he was released from the hospital and served 90days in the jail, I got him a bed at "Aunt Sally's". He slept on a cot in a big open room with a hundred others, later got a shared room, eventually a place at a halfway house. I made him drop a small gift off on his parents porch for his mother that next Christmas. The following year they let him come to x-mas dinner.
30 years later? He is now President of his Family's business, an international industrial/commercial packaging operation.
The checks he has sent to "aunt sally" over the years are generally more than most peoples annual salary. Some years they have been more than most peoples houses, in particular each year that he has had a child born.
The year his mother died? It was middle six figures.
Two of the top executives at his Corporations are people he 1st met in that cot filled gymnasium(and they are black), many of his hundreds of employees he has personally recruited from those flop houses.
They are "given" a chance, but have to "Earn" a position. Repentance, Humility and Gratitude, demonstrated by personal actions are the path they all must travel. Same exact rules apply to every single individual. Race . creed, color never considered in any form.
I think this New Sally will not sit well with him.

how would anyone admit to being racist..so how do you do that.???.say it as you put your donation in the kettle
or enclose a note with your check..saying you are a racist..that whole thing did not make any sense..so I would
think that is was intended for internal use..in any case... it's a cluster..f....that they will have a hard time unwinding
if they ever do..

I have given several thousands to the SA over the last 15 years. I thought they were great particularly because the left hated them because they were Christian which is like garlic to a vampire. The ‘soldiers ‘ make very little which I thought was admirable. The left criticized them because they preached salvation to the old bums and drunks they fed and housed. I doubt a little of the Gospel hurt them but the left said their civil rights were being violated. What a hoot. As one poster said, I will now put a note in the kettle explaining why I won’t donate again.
