A Virginia university has placed an assistant professor on administrative leave after the educator sparked heated backlash for saying it isn’t necessarily immoral for adults to be sexually attracted to children. Allyn Walker, who teaches sociology and criminal justice at Old Dominion University, made the controversial comment while discussing “minor-attracted persons” and pedophiles during a Nov. 8 interview with the Prostasia Foundation, a San Francisco-based child protection organization. Walker, who uses the pronouns they/them, was discussing their book, “A Long Dark Shadow: Minor-Attracted People and Their Pursuit of Dignity,” when they insisted it’s important to use that terminology instead of “pedophile” because it’s less stigmatizing.

I guess the dims’ canary in the coal mine died, but no doubt will find a dim income stream somewhere without difficulty. And his idea will be repackaged and tried again later.

ODU hired this pervert fully knowing who he was and trying to gain some woke credibility. Now they place him on leave in a futile attempt to save face.

And in 10 years, it will be a hero among the alphabet group. There will be statues erected to it for becoming a martyr to truth, justice and the New American Way.

Silly sidebar, but all comments thus far have mis-pronound the erstwhile proff, who must be referred to as they/them/their. (not he/him, etc) Now, I find that forces us to think of more than one person at the issue, when person said person is singular. So I propose adding an 'S' to the end of the pronoun, making it: theys/thems/theirses. i.e. Theys really got theirses panties in a bunch over thems opinions.
(They make up words, so can I)

As Joseph Heller almost wrote in Catch-22, "Multi sicky sick." Any society that does not prevent this perversion is perishing, and should perish. Pedophiles should not be tolerated. All of them should be taken off the streets.

ATTRACTION is not necessarily immoral. Having sex with a child is about as immoral as one can get.

The very people who screamed bloody murder at the “Catholic priest sex abuse scandals” promote it in situations that suit them: Hollywood, democrat politics, eduction system, Boy Scouts, etc.

Yikes, if Pee Wee Herman had a brother. It's one thing to be attracted, it's quite another to talk about it with students or act on it. Our hair-sniffing CIC will disagree.

The authorities should do a deep dive into this prof's past. Does he practice what he preaches?

If ODU is a publc university, which I believe it is, Virginia tax dollars have helped pay his salary. If you're a taxpayer, speak up loudly. And if you're a parent or alumni, do the same.

Never trust anyone who misspells the name Alan or Allen they aren't right in the head. If that's a professor I don't believe I would got to ODU for anything not even a coke at the student union.

Attraction to anyone is not immoral.
But acting on that attraction, especially where an adult and a child are concerned, is extremely illegal and massively evil.
And you know this pervert isn't talking about being attracted to a child, but acting on that attraction. I have no doubt that he has probably done it already -- possibly many times. But just like with the homosexuals, he wants to make his perversion "mainstream" and both accepted and celebrated in society. And I'm sure the lie-berals and Demon-Rats will be happy to oblige him!!!

This is so selfish. How often do we hear from adults that as a kid they were abused and how badly it has affected them. How can this possibly be OK?
Does that mean that all of the kids who were abused by priests in the years past if now all OK? We spent decades charging priests with this and now maybe those priests should sue because now it is OK? (maybe they should get $450,000 from the government for being wrongly accused of something that is now permitted-). Let's ask the "professor" who thinks it is no linger IMMORAL. I bet he hates religion more than he believes this is all right to do to kids.
