I am- don’t laugh- impressed by the internet. But it is nothing more or less than databases communicating with one another. There is a lot more to life than what can be encompassed by that. Smuckerburp’s metaverse ad reminded me of the google glass ads. Remember google glass? (Or whatever it was called) At bottom the internet is a tool and delivery method for entertainment. It will become a commodity. Schmuck is trying to avoid that. Of course, if it becomes merely a method of controlling people then it’s not a commodity-it’s a prison.

In the Metaverse you can sit on your ass all day, order in, eat as much as you want and stay buff and never gain weight. So pretty soon you won't be able to leave Mteaverse and reenter meat world -- too fat and ugly. Meanwhile, Zuck has been working on his glutes.

This pretty much proves that zuckerberg is a whacko who sees humanity living in tandem with electrons. I hear this same sort of drivel coming from those who think artificial intelligence will soon be capable of governing the world. If we suddenly applied logic to the United States, the Biden administration would disappear in a puff of smoke.

Rather than emerging as scheduled into the world of ‘build back better’, 2021 has ushered in a twilight reality in which the coronavirus pandemic is never quite over, the economy far from recovered, the long awaited Green future proved completely unaffordable, and political unrest is a growing concern. It’s a hostile environment for an administration seeking reelection. One interesting question to consider is how Joe Biden will deal with this adverse turn of events. For one he will need to reshuffle a coalition disappointed with his failures. “Nearly 10 months into his presidency, some of Biden’s most loyal contributors and top fundraisers are feeling neglected, if not outright cast aside,

While the Washington Post piously reminds us that “democracy dies in darkness,” it’s busy shooting out the lights: On Tuesday it published a lengthy call to Facebook to shut down dissident media, including PJ Media, because, you see, the non-Leftist publications are daring to spread “climate change denial” on the platform. Not just democracy, but also the freedom of speech will die in darkness if the Post gets its way. The Post article focuses upon a newly published study from one of the endless stream of far-Left advocacy groups masquerading as think tanks, the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), which the Post hastens to assure us

Democrats are questioning whether President Joe Biden can lead the party to victory in a 2024 presidential election as his polling collapse continues. Ten months into office and inflation on the rise, supply chain woes leaving shelves empty, and disappointing economic growth, voters say the country's future looks bleak. Democratic priorities on immigration and voting rights are stalled. Biden's promised legislative packages, including a bipartisan infrastructure bill popular with swing-district Democrats and a social spending package, remain stalled. “People are upset, people are frustrated … Voters see things getting worse,” Democratic pollster Celinda Lake said while discussing the results of Georgetown University’s latest Battleground and Civility Poll

The global energy shortage is making Green look like a failure, laments the New York Times, even as politicians meet to enshrine it. “Some governments across the continent now fear that higher heating bills this winter could bolster populists in upcoming national elections in several countries. Hungary has claimed that rising gas prices are linked to the European Union’s climate ambitions, which its prime minister, Viktor Orban, decried as ‘utopian fantasy.’ Poland, a major coal producer that has never been a fan of the European Commission’s emissions-reductions targets, has pressed Brussels to change or delay some of its proposed measures.” But it’s not Green’s fault.

All over the world, great power governments are struggling with their respective tech giants for control of the social media platforms. China’s ongoing crackdown on big tech is the most conspicuous. “Take Jack Ma, founder of the e-commerce giant Alibaba.” The Party called the billionaire in, told him his forthcoming IPO was illegal, and served notice that any new initiatives would need the regulators’ approval. Russia’s not far behind. Moscow sees Google, Apple, Facebook, Twitter, and Amazon as a threat and wants them replaced by “sufficiently pliable domestic entities — such as Russia’s large tech conglomerates like Yandex, VK, and Sber.”

Congress is requiring in its $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that automakers install monitoring systems in their cars to stop drivers from operating their vehicles while intoxicated. The bipartisan package, which is on its way to the president's desk after passing the House on Friday, allocates around $17 billion for the road safety programs. Monitoring systems to stop drunk drivers would roll out in all new vehicles as early as 2026, according to the new legislation. First, however, the Transportation Department would have to assess what the best form of technology is and give automakers ample time to comply. Mr. Obama’s speech Monday at the COP26 climate-change summit is being mocked for his reference to host Scotland as part of the “Emerald Isles,” which is a nickname for Ireland. “Since we’re in the Emerald Isles here let me quote the Bard, William Shakespeare,” Mr. Obama said. “‘What wound,’ he writes, ‘did ever heal but by degrees?’” Observers pointed out Mr. Obama actually committed two gaffes in the same breath. Shakespeare is considered the bard of England—yet another country. Scotland’s bard is poet Robert Burns.
