U.S. voters are segmented into nine political tribes - four that lean left, four that lean right, and the 'stressed sideliners' who have a minimal interest in politics - according to a report released Tuesday by the Pew Research Center.Pew surveyed 10,221 adults this July, but has been conducting interviews with respondents since January 2020. While partisan polarization remained high, the research also showed that there are divisions within both the Democrats and the Republicans - as members' views vary on issues including racial justice, abortion, taxes and the future role of former President Donald Trump.
I find their pigeon-holing to be nonsense, just as I do when I have seen these type of online tests. I am personally elements of Faith and Flag Conservatives, and Populist Right, according to their little research.

Please tell me no tax dollars went to this research. And just who asks for and pays for these 'studies" anyhow? Who owns Pew?

In my opinion there are only two. Those who love America and believe in the American Dream, and those who hate all that we stand for, either because they are twisted inside or have sold out to our enemies.

Nope, no box for me. None of those fits my philosophy.
This kind of research is usually paid for by political parties and specials interest groups so they can better target their next sad of ads and tune their message for different audiences.

Good idea. Divide us even further. We arent at each other's throats enough.
Sounds like something a college kid came up with; overcomplicating something to appear wise.

It's prudent to take reports from the Pew Research Center with a grain of salt. They're just another advocacy group.

Gee an article from a British publication telling us how we are segmented. Let me tell you about my observations of the British...and they are not pretty. Your men are metrosexual fops and pajama boys obsessed with gender fluidity, climate change, and Covid 19. They have Captain Kangaroo haircuts, huge beer bellies, bad teeth, dress even worse, and are pickled by noon. Your women appear ok but I can't understand their jibberish and am fairly confident they don't either. Both sexes are heavily tatted so much so you would think that they belong to MS-13. Virtually all are insufferably arrogant.
By no means fly British Airways or do a layover at Heathrow which is a third world hell hole of 1950's glass and concrete.
This coming from a guy who used to be a staunch Anglophile, now an ardent Anglophobe.

Hogwash. We're hiding in plain sight and you still don't see us.
First Nikki let me pass on this bit of advice and ask you to verify it on your own. You can not segment and define people in labeled categories when the terms you use to do so mean different things to different people. Put down your smart phone and go outside and for instance ask random people to define what it is to be a conservative.
And what the hell does "favor foreign policy that works with our allies" mean?
We have been lied to and manipulated with clever use of vocabulary; it's virtually impossible to define political positions within the constraints of language.
Nowhere do I see a home for constitutional adherents where we reject many positions that often have the word conservative attached to them.
We believe in big "R" God given rights (negative rights defining what cannot be taken away by government) and welcome our brother and sister non-believers who see those as natural rights rights but no less unalienable as believers.
If working with our allies means foreign entanglement and manipulation derived from engineered dependence count me out.

Schwab's dissection of us is garbage. Leave it to a lefty Brit to compartmentalize America. By the way, one box is missing from the dim side of her chart. The msm and our academic intelligencia should be included as the enablers of totalitarianism.

it's the Daily Mail, again! who is the person or person(s) who construct these labels? and furthermore, who came up with the idea of naming demcommie states "Blue" and non-demcommie states "Red" when we all know the color of the communist faction is "Red" and the color of the freedom loving American is "Blue". the media is gaining too much control of the thinking patterns of the American citizen and it's not a good thing.

A major segment of the Republican category--one that is comprised of the most intensely conservative people--citizens who hold no tollerance for anyone with progressive, fascist, or communistic thinking is missing.
That segment would be "Ex-democrats". (Though some of these people might be found in the "Independent" category as well).

A British paper posting 'research' from Pew defining or categorizing the U.S. The nation of boring snobby people who support and adore an inbred family of wealth with not purpose to the population. Why should I care what a limey across the pond thinks of my 'political tribe' when their entire tribe are all cold, bleak, snobbish and dumb from my perspective. Biden spoke for me when he passed some gas on your 'royal' misfit.

It looks like this article was not one of them.
