Mike Pence is the 'Brutus' figure in an internecine 'war' among advisors over former President Donald Trump's election overturn effort, writes former top trade advisor Peter Navarro in his new memoir. Navarro, who helped design Trump's China tariffs, writes of battling factions inside the White House and the Trump campaign between 'Swamp creatures' who wanted to concede defeat and those who rallied behind a plan to rely on Republican support in the House to try to delay the counting of electoral votes.Trump was an 'American Caesar,' Navarro told DialyMail.com in an interview, while Pence, 'his erstwhile most loyal person in the White House winds up sticking him in the back.'

The only group which benefited from the event was the Dim party. The only group that could possibly have been foreseen to benefit was the dim party.
In 2016 a known dim operative was videotaped saying he was working to plant people in Trump rallies to foment violence to discredit Trump.
The dims spent the period from March 2020 through the end of the year practicing violence and training the perpetrators of violence.
The vice president in Summer 2020 (as a candidate) advocated in favor of continuing violence ‘up to and after the election’ on national TV.
The Dims were instantly ready to use the event as a cudgel on their opponents.
The dims refused to provide adequate security for the event and encouraged the attendees to enter the capitol.
I have little doubt the dims seeded the crowd with violent ideologues.

Utter nonsense. Once the congressional objections are made (one from each house), the V.P. instructs the Congress to consider the objections. Pence did that. He had zero power to do anything else. To say otherwise is just ignorant.

Bull #2, he had the authority to not accept the electoral votes from the states that illegally had electoral votes "certified" by either a governor or a secretary of state. It is only legal if the legislators of the state in question certifies the count. It was Pence's job to send those electoral counts back to the legislators of those states to certify or reject those electoral votes.

I actually posted this same scenario months ago on this site. Trumps Ides of March, I just wasn't sure who was Brutus.

#2~ In the past 20 years, Electoral College Certifications were objected to three times by Democrats. In 2001, “House Democrats challenged the certification of electoral votes for then-Texas Governor George W. Bush, a Republican...” In 2017, Vice President Joe Biden “oversaw certification of the electoral votes that handed the presidency to Donald Trump. House Democrats had challenged the electoral slate. In 2005, Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D, OH) and Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) “together challenged Bush’s victory in Ohio on grounds of alleged voter irregularities.”
What President Trump hoped Vice President Pence would do was not illegal; the Electoral Count Act of 1887 “...aims to minimize Congressional involvement in election disputes, instead placing the primary responsibility to resolve disputes upon the states. The Act sets out procedures and deadlines for the states to follow in resolving disputes, certifying results, and sending the results to Congress.”
The decision Mike Pence made was his to make; however, there was nothing immoral about pursuing the Constitutional action President Trump wanted to pursue not solely for his personal benefit, but because of the morality in seating a presidential candidate as a result of voter fraud, sanctioning such a precedent for future elections.
Ted Cruz wanted Congress to “appoint an Electoral Commission, with full investigatory and fact-finding authority to conduct an audit of election results before Inauguration Day on Jan. 20. Once the audit was completed, states would evaluate the Commission’s findings and could convene a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if needed.”

I pre-ordered this book months ago from Amazon, I was expecting it tomorrow, the release day, which has always happened before. Now, it seems it will be another week, so something nefarious is afoot. Everything is upside down nowadays!

One thing about this matter, Pence effectively committed political suicide for himself, as he will never get enough Republicans to vote for his nomination or vote for him if he does run for President in 2024, as Trump will never support him, and there goes probably the majority of Republicans. The Republican Party would be nuts to try and nominate him.

What a sad state of affairs our country is in because men have lost the virtue of integrity. Nothing is worth their support if money and power await on the other side. It disgusts me. I sincerely believe that this was a coup d’etat disguised as an election. Democrats had years to plan and plot and they did in order to defeat President Trump. They had every base covered and had effectively worked at election fraud for who knows how long. We all could see the outpouring of support for President Trump. It was nothing like we had ever seen before and they want us to believe it meant nothing when it came to the election?
The 2020 election was stolen and was aided and abetted by Republicans because they had a lot to lose if President Trump was re-elected because I believe it was intention to reveal the corruption rampant in Washington DC and far too many big wigs in the Republican Party would be revealed. The political class hated President Trump because he was thoroughly disgusted with them, all of them. Am I surprised by Pence’s actions? A bit, but when it happened everything fell into place. The globalist anti-American zealots could not allow President Trump one more term. Therefore, they knew what had to be done, all of them. They played their roles magnificently and changed the course of history. Yes, I blame Pence but he is but one of the traitors who betrayed the American people because, let’s face it, the political class hates that this government was created for, by and of we the people. They believe they should be the ones making every decision for what they consider the great unwashed masses. The genius of the Founders could not be more clear as we see what has happened these past few months when a few men believe they are entitled to rule over us.

#3 Those disputed electors could only have been rejected if the congressional state delegations agreed to reject them after Pence sent the matter over to them to decide. It wasn’t Pence’s call. #5 I’d have been fine with Cruz’s idea. But that’s got nothing to do with Pence.

"after Pence sent the matter over to them to decide"... Yeah, we are still waiting on that first step. It's like refusing to press charges against Hillary and then arguing that she is innocent because she wasn't convicted. Still waiting on that first step. Same stupid playbook. Same stupid games. We aren't falling for it.

It’s noticeable how Ldotters are quick to jump on someone with a different viewpoint who doesn’t march in lockstep with the geriatric conservative women. Can be as bad (or worse) than Twitter, which may have led to the far left groupthink in social media. Leftists took such a beating in the comments sections of news stories prior to the creation of social media that they eventually created a safe space in which they wouldn’t get thrashed quite as bad. Funny how those who accuse me of being rough around the edges fail to see their own behavior.

More like Judas, than Brutus....
Et tu, Pence!
There WAS historical precedent for things to be corrected, but Pence chose not to stir thing up by using it--the RINO way
In the end, Trump made the wrong decision to pick Pence as a running mate

#13 is right. A lot of people get news from CNN. Glad I haven’t watched CNN in 20 years. In fact, I stopped watching all cable news about 10 years ago. Reading and studying is the thing. Otherwise you might end up believing crazy stuff, like that a Vice President has the power to reject electors.

Right or wrong, VP Pence followed his conscience. That may be a difficult concept for Leftists to grasp, but it should be obvious to real concervatives.

The Electoral College count was going to die with or without the insurrection. Folks may recall that Mitch and GOPe Senate seniors had no interest in pursuing any challenges to state electors. The "insurrection" gave them the pretense to skip the "challenge" formalities, which would have proven a time waste. And it was all done legal like, just like the Constitution says.
The question that continues to go largely unasked, thus unanswered, is WHY SIX STATES WITH REPUBLICAN LEGISLATURES CONFIRMED BIDEN SLATES when there were questions about the vote in each. While Trump and company were putzing around in disinterested courts, these legislatures sat quietly by. Today there is noise about recounts and such, and that is for in-state consumption. So, blame Congress...but also remember who sent those Biden slates to Washington. There's your investigation to find the truth.

It really really irks me that Pence is claiming he certified this election because the Bible and James Madison said it was okay. Even with the fraud he knew was there. Mike Judas Pence is not serving Christianity, he is serving somebody much lower down the ladder than that. He also got his price paid too, a mansion in the priciest county in Indiana. I hope he chokes on it.

#12,#17~ “Otherwise you might end up believing crazy stuff, like that a Vice President has the power to reject electors.” ~~~ Words mean things and so far, nothing posted to this thread suggests the Vice President of the United States (the PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE) has the power to reject electors. What has been stated references legislation passed by Congress regarding this country’s election process. In reality, “one key purpose of the Electoral Count Act’s procedural provisions is ‘TO DRAIN AWAY AS MUCH POWER AS POSSIBLE FROM THE SENATE PRESIDENT, whom the [law] appoints to preside at the joint session when Congress counts the votes.’”
The Electoral Count Act of 1887 (later codified at Title 3, Chapter 1) provides a “safe harbor” regarding congressional consideration of its electoral votes:
“If the state legislature has provided for final determination of contests or controversies by a law made prior to Election Day, that determination shall be conclusive IF MADE AT LEAST SIX DAYS PRIOR TO SAID TIME OF MEETING OF THE ELECTORS. In addition, since the section contains a principle of federal law that would assure finality of the State's determination IF MADE PURSUANT TO A STATE LAW IN EFFECT BEFORE THE ELECTION, a [state] legislative wish to take advantage of the 'safe harbor' would counsel against any construction of [state law] that Congress might deem to be a change in the law.”
There were reports or indications of conflicts in “timing” regarding submission of electoral votes as well as some states changing laws regarding elections prior to the 2020 presidential election. If such reports or indications are legitimate, those actions warrant investigative considerations that would require state and possibly federal judicial resolution.
~~~ “#5 - I’d have been fine with Cruz’s idea. But that’s got nothing to do with Pence.” ~~~ To the contrary; the President of the Senate had the authority, and some suggest the responsibility, under the Electoral Count Act of 1887, to refer resolution of the objections to the states.
Senator Cruz and eleven other GOP senators called for an Electoral Commission to conduct an Emergency 10-day Audit of disputed states; their declaration was that the 2020 election “featured unprecedented allegations of voter fraud, violations and lax enforcement of election law, and other voting irregularities. ... “In 1877, Congress did not ignore those allegations (of fraud and illegal conduct), nor did the media simply dismiss those raising them as radicals trying to undermine democracy. Instead, Congress appointed an Electoral Commission--consisting of five Senators, five House Members, and five Supreme Court Justices--to consider and resolve the disputed returns. These are matters worthy of the Congress, and entrusted to us to defend. We do not take this action lightly. We are acting not to thwart the democratic process, but rather to protect it. And every one of us should act together to ensure that the election was lawfully conducted under the Constitution and to do everything we can to restore faith in our Democracy.”
#22, The role of Pence in all this really shouldn't be controversial. All he had the authority to do is send the objections that had a house and a senate source back to the congress to decide. He did that.His role was merely ministerial. If you want to point fingers, point fingers at the congressional republicans for doing nothing about it or, as one poster wisely put it, the legislatures of those states which allowed this situation to occur in the first place. But don't point the finger at Pence. Finally, some posters, though not you, have written that Pence could "reject" the electors and they are not alone. President Trump, in his tweet the day before the certification, wrote that Pence had the power to "reject" the electors. This is not only not supported by any legal theory, it's insane on its face. It would create a blatant conflict of interest for the Vice President, who is someone frequently on the ballot. occasionally even in the top spot (Gore in 00, Nixon in 60).
