Oct. 7, 2021, will go down in history as the day that New York surrendered in the war on drugs. Not a shot was fired, except for the heroin or meth shot into the vein of a drug addict on the streets of Midtown, the South Bronx or Harlem.Gov. Hochul last week signed into law a bill pushed by state Sen. Gustavo Rivera (D-Bronx) and backed overwhelmingly by the city’s Democratic delegation to the Legislature. It decriminalizes the possession or sale of hypodermic needles and syringes by addicts to inject drugs.Touted as a move to reduce overdose deaths, it will instead be the death of downtowns and residential neighborhoods
Was in downtown Atlanta last night for a concert, and watched a guy shooting up within 30 feet of a cop, with nothing done…

Great. NYC, and the entire state of New York, will become an immediate incubator experiment in complete Marxist anarchy with a trail of death in its wake.

There you have it. Many thought she'd be an "improvement" over Andrew "Nursing Home Murderer" Cuomo. Yes, article, the path to decriminalizing drugs is well on its way.
The current cesspool of ELECTED officials and electorate sheep gets wider and deeper. Enjoy the repercussions of the demise.

The Democrats who run New York are not worried about all the “junkies” passing on, as they are bringing into the country millions of illegal alien foreigners who they say are “New Americans” to replace the useless population of “junkies”who are killing themselves.

Watch New York become a wasteland. People and businesses won't put up with this. They will leave. Lots of abandoned property falling into disrepair. Lots of empty properties becoming drug dens. Tax revenue will decrease. New York will be looking for a bailout.

Maybe she takes drugs herself. Nothing else would explain this horrible policy. She's as bad as Cuomo ever was.

Poster #1, it starts really early. I teach at an inner city high school. The kids arrive as freshmen shockingly ignorant and undisciplined. The truly feral kids know they can get away with their terrible behavior because there have been few consequences, starting in the fatherless "family." The district won't expel them because attendance equals money. The relatively smart kids who wonder why the monsters are still in the building are learning alright - learning how the educational machine really works. The result is what you saw: now the output of these wimpy schools is a huge drain on society. But in fairness to the really dedicated teachers who stay on despite knowing what they are caught up in, schools are where all of our societal ills bubble to the surface. Schools are expected to fix problems that have nothing to do with educating kids. The breakdown of the family is at the center of our problems. Over half of my kids come from broken homes. I'll bet a lot that the hard core dopers we see are from a fatherless family.

Gotta wonder if this guy Rivera is a member of the Cartels? if not, surely they contribute to his campaigns. New Yorkers have what they deserve, keep electing Democrats as you swirl down the toilet.

Depopulation is the ultimate goal. Promote dehumanizing policies such as COVID mandates and racial accusations claiming we are mired without hope, destroy the family, hope for the future and provide the needle as the escape.

Ever see the movie Escape from New York? New Yorkers now will now be living it. Civilized Americans will avoid it. No sane person will go there or want to live there. Democrats have to be the most evil people on the face of the planet. They do what they do under the auspices of helping the disadvantaged which is a lie straight from Satan. I am gobsmacked by the number of people who are stilled fooled by their actions. The inability to see the truth after living in these hellholes for generations is astounding. This is what you get when you exchange short term benefits for long term workable solutions. Believing life should be easy and a way should be made for you is a recipe for victimhood and disaster. The easy way is not always the best way.

New York Neighborhoods have been dead to me for a long time now. Other than Chinatown and Little Italy, the city has nothing of interest and a lot that disgusts me.

In re #1, we reside in a smaller town of 64,000 people in western Colorado. We have our share of junkies, too. Went to a concert last night as well. But, no junkies on main street. They go sleep in caves west of town.

They neighborhoods will have to throw back to how they dealt with this stuff in the "Old West" and hire guns and vigilantes to deal with this chaos. Democrats have lost any common sense they ever had.

Amsterdam was once a haven for heavy drug users, with the parks particularly littered with semi-lifeless bodies. Amsterdam survived.
The fact is every one of these drug-addled souls has a free will, and made a choice to ingest this stuff. It is impossible to believe they did not understand the consequences of that act. I do not believe society has an obligation to prevent stupidity that is self-administered. Sorry for all the sadness and angst that may accompany each case...but my sympathy meter is not moved.
We spend billions protecting the stupid from themselves, from seatbelt mandates, to smoking bans, bubble-wrapped playgounds and our highly unsuccessful "War on Drugs". Meanwhile, adults don't bother anymore to even teach kids to look both ways before crossing a street. Just walk out there - vehicles have to stop. And that's in "good" neighborhoods. Let's talk about gang bangin'...
