A Radical Dissent by Justice Clarence
Thomas Offers a Reproach to Merrick Garland

To those stunned by Attorney General Merrick Garland’s plan to use the USA Patriot Act* against parents protesting school curriculums, we commend the dissent by Justice Clarence Thomas in a case called Brown v. Entertainment Merchants. It will reassure you that you are not alone. There is at least one justice who comprehends the constitutional standing of parents in respect of their own children. The case, Brown v. Entertainment Merchants, was decided by the Supreme Court in 2011. The court cashiered an attempt by California to prohibit the direct sale of violent video games to minors. The court reckoned the law was afoul of the First Amendment’s freedom of speech clause. CORRECTIONS*

Comments:

The left has been focused on undermining parental authority for many decades. In fact, its goal seems to be no protection for children at all; they are to be "free" creatures ready for whatever the state wants to do to them, under the guise of "rights." Clarence Thomas understands this but apparently no one else in any high office does.

Yup. Thanks for posting. And thanks to Justice Thomas for giving us something to give thanks for. There have been too many reasons for disappointment (and even for disbelief) from the SCOTUS in recent years.

FTA: "* USA Patriot Act is short for: The Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools to Restrict, Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act." What is it with politicians and acronyms? They even have the military beat. How do they do it? Look for a cool acronym that fits the "bill" (as it were) or come up with the the acronym and then shoehorn words in to make it work? And then there are the alphabet people.

It is true. The freedom of speech covers it all. As parents (and I am not sure modern parents understand this) we are totally responsible for how our children are raised. Not the nanny, not the schools, not government or some doctor. It has obviously been a big blow to American parents to discover they have literally abdicated their positions as parents...therefore the schools have filled the cap. It is true Biblically and secularly that when good people (parents in this case) do nothing, evil (school systems, etc) will succeed. Now is the time for all good parents to come the aid of their children ... and in extension, their country.

A great number of America's "parents" abdicated their parental roles long ago to chase careers and "experiences", or to just hang out. They are fully invested in day care, pre-school, and K-12 as the "new parents" providing their progeny values and life direction - even three squares - to their little ones. (How long before public schools become residential?) How many "parents" consist of single mothers? Maybe grandparents? Kids are even becoming trophies for homosexual "couples". So, let's stop kidding ourselves about "parenthood" in a general sense. It exists less and less in our world.

I was talking to a woman about vaccinations and children. She said very stridently to me, "that is for the doctors to decide." There was silence for a moment because I was shocked. Then I said to her, "no, that is for the parents to decide." In fact, I said it twice and slowly. She did not have a response for me. Instead she looked to be taking this information in. Thought maybe it was a generational thing as I'm in my 60s and she is in her 30s. Has parenting changed so much?

I'm hoping that JCT has decided that he must step forward, be heard earlier in the process, and assert his role as the voice of Constitutionalism and justice. Clearly Roberts has proven himself to be unworthy, if not deeply compromised.

Mark Twain famously said, “In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards.” If you ever doubted the wisdom of this observation, the conduct of the Loudoun County School Board, the National School Boards Association, and Attorney General Merrick Garland should put paid to your skepticism. A more patent a collection of idiots it would be hard to find. The heroes in this story are Scott Smith, father of a young girl who had been sexually assaulted in a Loudoun County school bathroom by a “gender fluid” boy wearing a skirt, with an assist from the America First Legal Foundation (AFL),

It seems that the Chinese economy is falling, and there may be no one to bail them out. In a wave of recent reports, we see the contraction of the national economy, especially intense in the north. There have been blackouts and power failures across the area, and while the problems began in factories they have now spread to homes, a trend that is forecast to spread as time passes. The most alarming case is that of the real estate colossus Evergrande, whose debt is so large that default is a real possibility, and thereafter a rash of defaults across the world. Evergrande is a global threat, menacing a worldwide outburst

Why do you think Facebook is so excited about Section 230 reform and government regulation of Big Tech – did it suddenly start caring about free speech and the rights of citizens and unicorn liberation? No. We can’t throw these aspiring dictators into the briar patch that is government-run regulation. As Admiral Ackbar, and anyone who is even vaguely conscious sees, it’s a trap. There’s a better way, a way that will actually bring these creepy nanny statists to heel. It’s not traditional regulation – the creation of some sort of Department of Social Media serves the interests of both Big Tech and the Democrats, and it will make the internet substantially

A blue bus with the words "Enough is Enough" rolled into Fort Myers, Fla., with much fanfare on Monday, greeted by small business supporters and the local congressman. It was the latest in a high-profile tour railing against the Biden administration's economic policies, one that has captured the fancy of talk radio, Fox News and many business entrepreneurs as worries grow that a perfect economic storm may be forming from the combined forces of inflation, tax increases, large federal spending and regulatory overreach. Two weeks earlier, a lawsuit was announced on behalf of small businesses challenging the Biden administration's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, rousing cheers from the mom and pop shops

A growing number of Americans are facing the imminent loss of their livelihoods, economic uncertainty, and in some cases financial ruin, not because of mass layoffs prompted by economic recession or the collapse of their industries, but simply because they refuse to get a COVID-19 shot. These workers occupy every corner of the American economy, from health care to entertainment, law enforcement to IT, food service to academia. What unites them is the firm belief that they should not be forced to get a COVID-19 vaccine, whether by the government or their employer, under the threat of losing their job. As vaccine mandate deadlines loom, this threat is becoming a reality.

American Greatness recently caught up with American doctor and virologist Robert Malone in Rome last month. (Snip) In this interview, Malone, who was among the pioneers of mRNA vaccine technology in the late 1980s, recounts his belief that genetic vaccines such as mRNA and viral vector vaccines may risk causing antibody dependant enhancement—where a vaccine causes the production of rogue antibodies, which coming into contact with the virus, act as a Trojan Horse shuttling it, now unchallenged by the immune system, directly into the host cell where it can replicate unhindered. Nearly a year has passed since the 2020 election, yet there has not been a clear, satisfactory answer to the central mystery: How did a dull, declining Joe Biden manage to get more than 81 million votes and win the presidency? Yet he flipped five states Hillary Clinton lost in 2016, including Georgia and Arizona, and racked up 306 electoral votes to Donald Trump’s 232.
