McConnell Offers Dems Debt-Limit Lifeline

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) on Wednesday floated a short-term extension of the debt limit in order to avoid a looming default. “Whether through miscalculation or a deliberate effort to bully their own members into wrecking the Senate, top Democrats have risked adding a default crisis to the inflation crisis, border crisis, and Afghanistan crisis they have already created,” McConnell said in a statement. Republicans “have already made it clear we would assist in expediting the 304 reconciliation process for stand-alone debt limit legislation,” McConnell continued. “We will also allow Democrats to use normal procedures to pass an emergency debt limit extension at a fixed dollar

Of course he did. Do these idiots realize that the people who supported Trump don't like weakness? Like it or not we ARE the majority of voters right now. Did they see the rallies? Do they hear the cheers for Trump and the chants for Joe? Are the walls of that bubble so thick that they actually believe that Joe got all those votes? Are they willing to ditch integrity and cave to the "cool kids" just so you'll be invited to all the parties? Come '22 and then '24 you will have plenty of free time.

The dems could raise the debt ceiling all by themselves using the reconciliation process, and Mitch offered them that out if they did it with a clean bill. At least two reasons why the dems balked at this approach. First, they don't want to own the perception that they are spending out of control. Secondly, the Senate parliamentarian has ruled that they only have one more reconciliation effort available this year and that is their vehicle for the $3.5 Trillion social spending government expansion boondoggle that they are pushing.

Knee-jerk negative reaction to McConnell is unwarranted. He's playing his cards well. He's walking a narrow line between keeping Manchin and Sinema from caving, holding his squishy RINOs in line, and not allowing the Democrat media to blame Republicans for a government shutdown. This is a battle to save America and not losing right now is critical. Give McConnell credit.

The president appeared in public today, and that always means the delivery of some really good material. Sure enough, Joe Biden did not disappoint in a rambling mess of a speech he gave on the economy. In it, he slammed the unvaccinated. Worse, he actually bragged about getting people fired, claiming that it helped raise vaccination rates by subtraction. When’s the last time you heard a president brag about putting Americans out of a job? Yet, here we are. That’s some serious Democrat logic on display. The only reason the “rate” of vaccination went up among workers at United Airlines is that

Yesterday, there was a school shooting in Texas. Around 9:15 a.m., police in Arlington, TX, got the first call of shots fired at Timberview High School. When officers responded, they found three people wounded and one injured. A 25-year old victim, identified in various reports as a teacher, was hospitalized in “good” condition. A pregnant teacher twisted her ankle trying to get the hell out of Dodge; she was treated at the scene and released. Another victim (whose age I have not been able to determine) was hospitalized and then released. Finally, a 15-year-old is still in the hospital in critical condition. American parents are organizing to fight racist critical race theories being taught in their kids’ schools. Attorney General Merrick Garland, once touted as a moderate, has responded by asking the FBI to treat them as domestic terrorists. As befits the Biden administration, this over-the-top authoritarianism is accompanied by the stench of corruption, as it turns out that Garland’s son-in-law is in the business of selling educational materials on CRT. Garland’s self-dealing and thuggery are grounds for resignation. But that isn’t the worst thing that’s happened. Bad as it is, the Biden administration’s poisonous combination of graft and authoritarianism can be remedied by getting rid of the administration

However, the company plans to increase production in its California plant regardless of the headquarters move. “To be clear we will be continuing to expand our activities in California,” Musk said. “Our intention is to increase output from Fremont and Giga Nevada by 50%. Ever since the Supreme Court allowed the federal eviction moratorium to expire at the end of August, many activists have been on pins and needles waiting to see what would happen next. For well over a year we’d heard the warnings about an impending eviction crisis, and it certainly sounded like something that would probably happen. So many people lost their income in 2020 and were unable to keep up with their rent or mortgage payments that there should have been a flood of tenants and homeowners who were simply too far behind to catch up. But now, more than a month after the moratorium expired, the predicted wave

With Kamala Harris no longer in the upper chamber, Bernie Sanders took over the “dumbest senator in America” title this year, and he’s hard at work maintaining the crown. The socialist began Wednesday by reiterating that “two people do not have the right to sabotage what 48 want and what the president of the United States wants.” This moronic statement could be dispelled by an alert kindergartener. First, two people are not holding up the other 48; it’s 52 people, though I realize the Vermonter probably doesn’t consider Republicans to be humans. And second, it does not matter “what the president of the United States wants” because Joe Biden has no vote in Congress.

US troops are in Taiwan, where they have been operating for at least a year, American defence officials revealed on Thursday. The revelation, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, comes as China’s military has been pressuring Taiwan in recent days and worrying local officials about the potential for conflict or an accidental strike. Dozens of Chinese jets and other military aircraft have entered Taiwan’s air defence identification zone over the past few days, which includes part of the Chinese mainland due to the island’s proximity to China.

First, it reported that the C.I.A. had sent a top-secret cable to all stations warning them that “troubling” numbers of agents and informants were being rounded up by our opponents and either executed or flipped into double agents. The message, in an unusual top secret cable, said that the C.I.A.’s counterintelligence mission center had looked at dozens of cases in the last several years involving foreign informants who had been killed, arrested or most likely compromised. Although brief, the cable laid out the specific number of agents executed by rival intelligence agencies

It should be obvious that no sane parent would ever allow ideology to supersede the proper education of her children. Yet, during the past year, it has become equally clear that many of the nation’s school systems are indoctrinating students using politically tendentious curricula that most of the public considers . . . well . . . insane. This has resulted in widespread protests by parents of all political persuasions to which school boards have responded with stunning hostility. The magnitude of this animus was revealed this week when the National School Boards Association (NSBA) equated parents with “domestic terrorists,” and the Biden administration directed the FBI to investigate them.
