Long-time readers will recall that your correspondent was a conservative columnist for the uber-liberal Aspen Times for seven years. In that time, I became the most-read columnist in the Aspen area. My columns frequently generated more clicks than front page news.
That was not acceptable to the Aspen Times. After all, I was hired to be a token, not to be a success. On Christmas Eve in 2019, they fired me. By email. As for their reasons, they stated that my “values” were incompatible with theirs. The story was widely published, including on national sites.

In the midst of the Afghanistan surrender debacle last month, Joe Biden went for a softball interview with a Democrat partisan news reporter. As always, the President struggled to put words together. Finally, the reporter asked Biden point blank a leading question he could answer with a simple yes or no:
“So no one told — your military advisers did not tell you, “No, we should just keep 2,500 troops. It’s been a stable situation for the last several years. We can do that. We can continue to do that”?
Biden answered: “No. No one said that to me that I can recall.”

Joe Biden’s border policy would be comical if it weren’t so destructive and tragic. He in effect tells would-be immigrants, “Please don’t come but, if you do, we’ll let you in and let you stay.”
Predictably, they do come, they do get let in, and they do stay. Put another way, they come, they see and they conquer — all at the implicit invitation of the president. How long before they get dinner at the White House?
Millions come. Border towns are overrun. Sanitation is bad. Conditions are horrendous, filthy and unprecedented.

A Hillary Clinton lawyer has been indicted for lying to the FBI in the Clinton campaign’s 2016 smear of Donald Trump.
The lawyer fed bogus information to the FBI to fuel the false allegation that Trump was colluding with Russia. The lawyer lied to the FBI by stating that he was acting purely as a private citizen, while his own firm’s billing records prove he was actually working for Hillary’s campaign.
As the current occupant of the office for which Hillary was campaigning might say in a rare lucid moment, “This is a big f*cking deal.”

t will be a catastrophe of Biblical proportions. Think fire and brimstone. The Four Horsemen of Joe, Kamala, Nancy and Chuck riding off a cliff. Cats like AOC sleeping with dogs like Bill Clinton (OK, that’s not odd, but it’s sure icky). Locusts. Hillary’s persistent pestilent pantsuits.
The first midterm elections during a presidential term are a test that he/she/they/it usually fails. Democrats do particularly badly, since most Democrat voters are not aware of midterm elections of their House and Senate representatives. Heck, they don’t even know who their representatives are.

Harvard actively and obviously discriminates against Asians. To get admitted, Asians need an SAT score 140 points higher than whites and 450 points higher than blacks.
Harvard’s justification for this discrimination is almost as painful as the discrimination itself. Harvard says that the Asian applicants have poor personalities.
The way Harvard evaluates an applicant’s personality is not with any standardized test, but with an in-person interview by a bureaucrat – where it just so happens that the bureaucrat can take note of the applicant’s skin color.
Asian applicants sued. The suit was in Boston before a federal judge appointed by President Obama. The judge sided with Harvard.

Back in your correspondent’s Version 2.3 or thereabouts, he was an engineer for Boeing. This was back in 1978-79.
My starting salary was $15,400. When I left Boeing to start my personal Version 3.0, my salary was still less than $17,000. My parents thought I was crazy to give that up and take on debt to go to law school.
Boeing was booming. Airlines were being de-regulated, airline travel was becoming less expensive while still being slightly sexy, and everyone wanted to go to Europe for the first time.

Joe Biden recently learned a trick from Kamala. When he’s asked a legitimate question that he doesn’t want to answer, he laughs. This buys him time and maybe even avoids altogether the necessity for an answer.
Sometimes it works. But it works less well when the question is about human lives at stake.
It’s all part of his flippancy, snarkiness and gaslighting as he tries to divert attention away from the humanitarian catastrophe that he created in his Afghanistan abandonment. His strategy seems to have been something like “ready, fire, aim.”

A certain Iraqi official holding the post of (Dis)Information Minister made a name for himself in the second Iraq war against the west. That was the one where Saddam Hussein wound up hiding in a spider hole and the people of Iraq were finally freed of his tyranny.
It doesn’t matter what his real name was. He came to be called “Baghdad Bob.” As the western allies descended on Baghdad, Bob held frequent press conferences laden with colorful, comical but incorrect contentions:
“Our initial assessment is that [the allies] will all die.” That assessment proved inaccurate, to put it mildly.
“God will roast their stomachs in hell at the hands of Iraqis.” Ditto.

Scathing criticisms of Joe Biden’s disastrous cut-and-run in Afghanistan have been issued by even his media cheerleaders at CNN, NPR and the New York Times. Career diplomats including former Obama officials have publicly excoriated his administration for incompetence. Foreign leaders are baffled.
Only the Taliban is happy.
A withdrawal from Afghanistan may have been necessary, but it didn’t have to happen this way. Only 2,500 soldiers were there anyway – about the same as in Iraq.

In a recent mixed gathering of friends and casual acquaintances, a man made a joke about “mental masturbation.” A woman’s rejoinder mentioned her habits of the physical kind. Everyone laughed. I did too. It was funny.
That’s an exchange that would not have happened a few years ago. Back then, and forever prior to then, onanism was a fine thing that 90% of people practiced, often to perfection, but 110% denied. Heck, they didn’t even need to deny it, because the entire topic was taboo.
Not so anymore.
Comments:
It drives the left crazy that they can no longer control what people read.
