Harvard actively and obviously discriminates against Asians. To get admitted, Asians need an SAT score 140 points higher than whites and 450 points higher than blacks.
Harvard’s justification for this discrimination is almost as painful as the discrimination itself. Harvard says that the Asian applicants have poor personalities.
The way Harvard evaluates an applicant’s personality is not with any standardized test, but with an in-person interview by a bureaucrat – where it just so happens that the bureaucrat can take note of the applicant’s skin color.
Asian applicants sued. The suit was in Boston before a federal judge appointed by President Obama. The judge sided with Harvard.
I guess discrimination is ok, if it’s done on the altar of Diversity…

Since when is an arrogant attitude and claims of Asian privilege cause for discrimination?

Asians have been discriminated since the time of their immigration into the U.S.A. My forefathers took the high road, accepted the prejudice, and while assimilating, joined the military to prove their loyalty. The latest immigrants, legal and illegals are different animals.

If I am reading this right SCOTUS by rejecting this case legalizes discrimination, not just for Asians but against anyone colleges see fit and for any reason they want.

Number 6: That would be a logical reading. But in point of fact, it's certain that the Court would strike down any discrimination against blacks. So here's where we are: Discrimination is illegal or not depending entirely on which race it favors and which race it disfavors.

As an academic with many years of experience, I believe Asians may not be missing much by being discriminated against by Harvard admissions. They still have some excellent departments, but in general, are living on their distinguished past reputation. It takes a long time for reality to catch up with a declining academic reputation.

The Article incldes:
"Chief Justice who eloquently rejected reverse discrimination in a case years ago where he stated, 'The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.' But that was then and this is now. Roberts as Chief Justice is now obsessed with maintaining the status and legitimacy of the Court. He dodges the hard issues, always looking for compromise and consensus. He’s keenly aware of the Democrats’ threat to pack the Court with more Democrats if the Court gets too upidy."
This Article is letting Roberts off the hook. The Court will not be upidy by holding that Harvard's blatant discrimination against Asians is unlawful.
I believe Roberts voting with the liberals is not to dodge the hard issues, and neither because he's looking for compromise and consensus, nor because he fears court packing.
I believe Roberts sides with the liberals when he's instructed (ordered) to do so.
Few, if any, of the cases where he voted (5 to 4) with the liberals resulted in increasing compromise or consensus. Usually, just the opposite.
He's been siding with liberals in the relatively few "being blackmailed cases" long before there has been any threat of court packling. To my recollection the Court packing threats first occurred after the Republicans lost their majority in the Senate. Before that there was ZERO chance of Court packing, and back then Democrat threats of court packing would have been hollow.

Ironically men are getting admission advantages over women at some colleges and universities where women are 60% of enrollment.

Lots of black people do not like Asians. Asians work hard, study hard and most have a respectful behavior to others. They don't come here for welfare, food stamps and other hand outs. And yes I know what I'm talking about. I'm from the south, worked ten years with a 50% ratio black/white co-workers. We did fine except when someone was taking orders to go to the new Asian restaurant. None of the blacks would order from there.

Not taking those with the highest merit leaves a Harvard degree with a discounted value. The best thing is to find a school with reasonable tuition and good textbooks, and major in something that leads to a job. You don't need Harvard.

When it comes time to clean house, every aspect of government and everyone associated with government should be gutted like a bad fixer-upper and rebuilt with the detritus swept out like dead pillbugs on a concrete floor. We'd be better off drafting people for government service via lottery, with extra points given to those who want no part of it. With few exceptions - and there are exceptions even today, people who badly want to be in government, whether career or appointed bureaucrats or politicians, are precisely the people who should never be allowed near a decision making position on behalf of the people. Judges at all levels are nothing more than run-of-the-mill bureaucrats with the power to decide winners and losers in life, and that is a huge problem begging for major structural change.
