The defeat of the American-backed government in Afghanistan has increased the danger that the al Qaeda terrorist group will launch another attack on the United States very quickly, the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency said Tuesday. The current assessment conservatively is one to two years for al Qaeda to build some capability to at least threaten the homeland,” said Army Lt. Gen. Scott Berrier. The chaotic withdrawal of U.S. and allied troops from Afghanistan last month in the face of a lightning Taliban offensive reduced the ability of the military and intelligence agencies to monitor terrorists in Afghanistan.(Snip)CIA Deputy Director David Cohen agreed
Seems the greatest security threat occupies the White House. Expect the Intel Community and DHS to keep harping on this to expand their empires, increase funding and rehab images.

They have this administration, all they have to do is buy some popcorn sit back, and watch the continued destruction of this country. No, I think our friends at the DIA and CIA simply wish to be relevant.

I don't believe the CIA at all, about anything, ever.
The DIA, perhaps, but when they went after Gen Flynn, I began to be skeptical of even the DIA.

The DIA is the outfit that supposedly had seized Dominion servers in Germany and was hard at work trying to arrest those responsible for hijacking the 2020 election. The same crowd labels anyone who believes this as a potential "domestic violent extremist," along with people who are leery of the benefits of the vaccine, and who think taxes are too high because the money is squandered. So who is the enemy? The US government says it's half of more of the American public, but then they say it's terrorist groups that they created, trained, and armed.

If I may be so bold to remind to OP: Millivanilli is barely competent, or even American. Yet the Goebbellists slipped him a 7-figure 'advance' -from behind...... for his consoling 'military' analyses -to the PRC, founders of the coup.
I think you're worth at least that much. By all means, stick your hand out too---to Joe Dough. We hear he's good for it.

Is this the same "intelligence" network that didn't believe the Taliban would overtake Afghanistan so quickly?

Color me skeptical. The CIA and FBI lost all my trust in 2017, after seeing their election related duplicity, kind of like the CDC lost all my trust in 2020, after seeing their covid-related duplicity.

We'll be back in Afghanistan to shutdown AQ. Gee, didn't we do that? The Taliban provides a safe haven for AQ. They support the terrorists. We should never have treated them like a governing body. We should never have let them rebuild. It will be only a matter of time before we return to Afghanistan because we let the terrorists rebuild right under our nose, and turned the country over to them by pulling the rug out from under the feet of the real Afghan government.

Yeah, they got till late 2024 to get it done.
But isn't this the same intelligence that was too dense to learn about 9-11 and other things that happened later.

So slow Joe has just sent them 60 million bucks on top of 60 Billons in ground to air missiles and other nice weapons. The US airline industry just went in the tank because for all the airport security they can just shoot you down on take off. Live in an apartment complex ? Move.

Zero credibility. I thought White Supremacy was our greatest threat? That, and Climate Change and the vaccine holdouts. The wide-open border is of no concern, nor are the 120,000 or whatever completely unvetted Afghanis, no doubt salted with terrorists, the alleged president imported. The national debt is of no consequence, nor is the $86 billion worth of weapons the Pentagon donated to the Taliban.
