Washington— House Democrats passed legislation Tuesday that would strengthen a landmark civil rights-era voting law weakened by the Supreme Court over the past decade, a step party leaders tout as progress in their quest to fight back against voting restrictions advanced in Republican-led states. The bill, which is part of a broader Democratic effort to enact a sweeping overhaul of elections, was approved on a 219-212 vote, with no Republican support. Its passage was praised by President Joe Biden, who said it would protect a “sacred right” and called on the Senate to “send this important bill to my desk.”But the measure faces dim prospects in that chamber,

Black people have not been denied the vote in decades. I worked in an old school building in a black neighborhood. It was used for voting for years. People would be driven in by van loads and the clerks would sign them in and if they couldn't read, they'd go in the booth and vote with them. No one has denied them the vote in 50 years. But that doesn't sound good to liberals or the MSM.

Our republic literally hangs by a thread this evening, with passage of this only blocked in the Senate by Sinema and Manchin refusing to revamp the filibuster rule, and the same two refusing to back the 3.5T porkulus bill. That is how close we are, people.

This is a constitutional change with the voting laws. My understanding it would require 60 votes to pay. Attaching it to a spending bill, does not allow this.

The disaster that is the withdrawal from Afghanistan coupled with other innumerable debacles that Joe Biden has singlehandedly precipitated in just seven months should not come as a surprise to anyone who has paid attention to his career. His fifty-years as a politician is littered with a litany of failures due to unforced errors, countless flip-flops, plagiarism, cupidity, mendacity and demagoguery all brought about by an overweening sense of infallibility and egocentrism. Yet he was chosen by the current ruling class to be the figurehead in their devious scheme to defeat Donald Trump by any means possible in the 2020 election.
