The First Slave Owner in Virginia
was Neither Jewish nor European

Original Article

There has been a growing belief in progressive circles of the 1619 Project ilk, that all Jews are of European decent and all Europeans who came to the Americas owned African slaves. It's not based on history. (snip) Upon arriving in Virginia, the Angolans were traded for supplies and became indentured servants. They became this, along with many whites in the colony, as there was no law allowing for slavery. (snip) It was not until 1662 that a law was passed to enslave people based on the status of their mothers, over four decades after the first Africans arrived in Virginia.

Believe me, only the absentee owners wanted to have any dealings with the slaves.

Both sides in America suffer related delusions, those on the left the delusion that their FEELINGS will trump other people’s FACTS and those on the right the delusion that their FACTS will trump other people’s FEELINGS.

Hard to think of this like I did just a few short years ago. Most of this deep history was anecdotal to the full history of the making of America. Now short articles with these FACTS may end up being pivotal to correcting Americas future.

FTA: "People are branded racists from birth in the new incarnation, with no redemption possible." Scripture makes very clear there are only TWO races: Jew and Gentile (aka "Greek") It goes on to say this about "racism" in Galatians 3:26ff ----- For you are all sons and daughters of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s [am]descendants, heirs according to promise. ----- Therefore the only "cure" for racism is Christianity... tell that to a liberal and watch them explode.

I love the quote from Galatians that commenter #5 reminded us of -- in God's eyes there is neither slave nor free, etc. -- all are equal. Still, I sometimes think of the third stone tablet that Mel Brooks was supposed to bring down from Mount Sinai in his film "History of the World, Part I." If you remember, Moses (Brooks) announced “The Lord Jehovah has given unto you 15…” -- then he dropped one tablet and it shattered -- "... 10 commandments". I wonder if that crumbled tablet had contained this commandment: "Thou shall not own slaves." We could have used that commandment. The title of the article says that "The First Slave Owner in Virginia was Neither Jewish nor European." Is it possible that the first slave owner in Virginia was a Native American -- possibly long before Columbus tripped on the New World? We know that some tribes in the Americas owned slaves. I don't know about Virginian tribes. By the way, I do believe that slavery was wrong and is still wrong, and I lament the crimes committed against the Native Americans. But, as a wise man once said, "I have given up the dream of changing the past."

We’re finally getting some clarity about what’s going on with COVID and it’s information that makes even more perplexing the Biden administration’s fanaticism about reintroducing all the COVID restrictions that not only didn’t work last year but were lifted completely for the Black Lives Matter protests and riots. The short version is that the vaccine doesn’t seem to protect against the Delta variant, we’re all still contagious, but (thankfully) we’re not dying like flies. That news, while not uplifting, doesn’t seem to justify the Democrats’ hysteria.

With proper credit given to Mr. Charles Dickens, for many Americans living today in America, "these are the worst of times." (snip) What is becoming increasingly clear is that America is disintegrating into two warring factions. For most of the 20th century, Americans had about 35% of the voters voting conservative/Republican and 35% voting liberal/Democrat, with a healthy 30% in the middle. This 30% in the middle kept us from tearing apart. (snip) in 2021, about 48% of the voters view themselves as RedState Patriots, and about 48% of the voters view themselves as BlueState Progressives. This leaves a slim 4% (if that much) in the middle.

It’s pretty clear that Joe Biden loves Hunter. On the one hand, he seems to have used him which, of course, is not loving. (snip) a stay in prison might have scared Hunter straight. This week in history witnessed a small band of Christian knights terrify and brutally defeat a massive horde of Muslims -- at the battle of Jaffa. On July 27, 1192, Saladin, the great hero sultan of Islam, surrounded and besieged the tiny Christian-held town of Jaffa. According to chroniclers, the Muslims numbered around 20,000 and “covered the face of the earth like locusts.” Messengers were instantly dispatched to King Richard I, who was then in Acre, preparing to sail back to England. Before the battered and bruised messengers had finished relaying their message, “With God as my guide,” Richard declared, “I will set out to do what I can,”

Perhaps it’s because I grew up surrounded by extraordinarily tough people, but I found myself singularly unmoved by the spectacle in the House on Tuesday, which reminded me of a bad mash-up of Dr. Phil, Oprah, and BLM-produced soap opera, rather than a legitimate inquiry into an event that Democrats have seized upon to consolidate their power by destroying their opposition. As sobbing congressmen and Capitol Police officers took turns talking about their psychic injuries, I was alternately embarrassed for them if they were really that weak, and frightened of them if they were that sociopathic as a pathway to power.

One of the most obvious misconceptions about liberals today is that they personify tolerance. The Oxford English Dictionary defines tolerance as "the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with. A recent poll by the Survey Center on American Life at the American Enterprise Institute found that Democrats are twice as likely as Republicans to report ending a friendship over a political disagreement (20% versus 10%). Liberals are also "far more likely than conservatives are to say they are no longer friends with someone due to political differences" (28% versus 10%).
