YOUR RIGHTS, DO YOU HAVE ANY? Quoted below an email forwarded to me, purported to have come from someone employed by Houston Grand Opera and/or Houston Symphony. (To be clear I have absolutely no reason to doubt my source, and am convinced this is authentic, but the email was copy-pasted and (for obvious reasons) I don’t know the person/point of origin.)

Yes. You have the right to be a wage slave, to send in an oppressive amount of tax money to the government, and to die when we can no longer use you. That's it.

But we dare not take our grievances to our leaders lest we end up in the DC Gulag.

Okay, rights are an issue. But there have been an awful lot of half-truths and even out-and-out lies about the vaccines, their possible side effects, etc. on the Internet and for all I know on the social media. (I never visit Fakebook or Twister, so I don't know.) It's scaring the pants off gullible people and keeping them at risk. I thought it was Democrats and never-Trumpers doing it -- after all, DJT created Operation Warp Speed and got the vaccines developed in record time -- but now I'm thinking it's from a foreign source. Russia and China look like plausible culprits.

The HGO still produces world class opera. Politics came between me and football. I'm not giving up The Grand Opera! Puccini's Turandot will be in Houston this coming Spring. Hope to see you there !

As a strident foaming at the mouth ultra radical right wing extremist, I believe that it should be the individual's choice and not the government whether to get jabbed or not. The frustrating thing about COVID is that its effect on people is unpredictable. For some it might be like having a cold or flu. For others it's a death sentence. Herman Cain didn't last long. This 5 year old boy was killed by it. https://news.yahoo.com/5-old-covid-19-died-102208810.html?fr=yhssrp_catchall I've been jabbed with both shots of Pfizer. Had a negative reaction to both. But I am still here typing away.

FTA: "What happened to letting people make a determination of their own risk? What happened to individual rights?" Everyone has a right to decide. No one has a right to employment when they refuse to honor the employer's rules that require vaccination. That is clearly established in the basic rule generally referred to as "employment at will." Don't like the job? You can always quit. Employer doesn't want you on the job? Good-bye. Refusal to be vaxxed is not one of the exceptions. So, you have a right to your way of thinking. The employer has a right not to accept that in in contradiction to work rules, and also has an obligation to avoid the threat of staff contagion and legal ramifications, including potential disability and liability claims.

I have chosen not to participate in the events of the Socialist Utopia. This could entail revenge from the Marxists must like the Holodomor. The statement, " You have the freedom to quit your livelihoods" reeks of vicious Stalinism. I detest the direction our "leaders" are headed.

Nancy Pelosi’s on her last legs 48 replies

Nancy Pelosi used to point her angry finger at Donald Trump, but she leaves him for dust when it comes to busting norms, dividing Congress and causing mayhem. If anyone is to blame for the hyper-partisanship in Washington these days, it’s the spiteful House speaker. She behaves more like a Mafia don waging a gang war than a dignified, fair and honest presiding officer, which is what the speaker’s role requires. Pelosi abuses her power in ways that once were unthinkable. Her speakership has been the antithesis of Lincoln’s entreaty to “the better angels of our nature.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical advisor to the Biden administration, has defended the National Institute of Health's decision to give $600,000 to the Wuhan Institute of Virology in 2014 for research into whether bat coronaviruses could be transmitted to humans. In Sunday's episode of CNN's 'State of the Union,' Fauci, the director of the NIH's Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told host Jake Tapper that it would be 'negligent' not to fund the research - though some have argued it could have led to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in 2019. Fauci and Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul feuded over the subject last week, when Paul questioned Fauci

For many decades, the quadrennial Olympic games were grand moments of patriotism. (snip) Of late, though, our athletes are no longer amateurs; the Soviets are gone; we worship at the Chinese shrine; the Olympics are on every two years and broadcast 24/7, making for complete over-saturation; and too many of our Olympic athletes hate the country they’re representing. For that reason, those Americans who love their country the most have cared the least when Americans have fallen flat in Tokyo.

Joe Biden returned to the White House Sunday and, as usual, had the boot-licking media waiting for him. As he approached the press area, a reporter asked him about his opinion on reconciliation and amnesty. Biden said it “remains to be seen” if a pathway to citizenship will be included in the Democrats’ forthcoming reconciliation package.

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Anthony Fauci said federal health officials are considering recommending that fully vaccinated people wear masks in public again. “This is under active consideration,” Fauci told CNN in response to a question about whether masks should be used again despite individuals’ COVID-19 vaccination status. Fauci, who serves as President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser, added, “If we don’t vaccinate people, the model is going to predict that we’re going to be in trouble as we continue to get more and more cases.”

The ancient Greeks, whose admonitions seem evergreen, warned us that excess pride and ambition would lead those guilty of it to ruin. I think that it true of Anthony Fauci. (Snip) Playing politics with public health -- as Biden, Harris and Fauci have -- did more to undermine confidence in our public health apparatus and functionaries than any social media “misinformation,” “misinformation” which, in any event, often turns out to be as true, as was Trump’s claim the virus was created in the Wuhan lab.

After Team USA lost its Olympic opener to France, 83-76, on Sunday, ESPN analyst Tim Legler posited that perhaps this result could be a "good thing" for the Americans -- that it could serve as a "wake-up call" as they move forward in their quest for a fourth straight gold medal. Funny thing about that: Gregg Popovich and Jayson Tatum said the same thing after the U.S. lost to Nigeria two weeks ago in Las Vegas. (Snip) It's difficult to fully believe the Americans, who are the most talented team in the international world by a mile, are truly putting their

The Dallas Democratic Party is asking Texans for donations of Dr. Pepper, hair spray, salsa and other goods to send in care packages to lawmakers who fled the Lone Star State to Washington, D.C., in order to stymie a vote on an elections bill. “Our Dems in DC said they’d appreciate care packages from home. Before 5pm Tues, we’re collecting Dr. Pepper, salsa, hard candy, hairspray, travel toiletries, hand sanitizers, sewing kits, first aid, and/ or $ to pay shipping,” the Dallas Democrats tweeted Saturday. A lifelong baseball fan, I abandoned the game this year after MLB sided with the Democratic Party in its campaign against ballot integrity in Georgia. It wasn’t just that: my home town team has put a “Black Lives Matter” sign and a memorial to George Floyd in right field. If I can’t escape politics at a baseball game, I’d rather go somewhere else. For the first time in decades, I haven’t seen a major league baseball game this year. Not only that, I haven’t watched or listened to a single pitch on radio or television. Then there is football. Commissioner Roger Goodell is driving the sport in a “woke” direction.

A California man who mocked COVID-19 vaccines has died after becoming infected with the virus. Stephen Harmon, 34, died on Wednesday at Corona Regional Medical Center, about an hour east of Los Angeles. Prior to his hospitalization, Harmon shared a series of jokes on social media about vaccines. “I got 99 problems but a vax ain’t one,” he wrote in June on Twitter. In another tweet the same month, he made fun of the Biden administration’s outreach efforts to push vaccines. “Biden’s door to door vaccine ‘surveyors’ really should be called JaCovid Witnesses. #keepmovingdork,” he wrote. Harmon had been treated for pneumonia and critically low oxygen levels
