In 1949, the trailblazing anti-racist musical “South Pacific”––created by composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II––debuted on Broadway to wild critical acclaim, running for over five years in nearly 2,000 performances. A particularly powerful and influential song from the musical, “You’ve Got to Be Carefully Taught,” carried the message that hatred does not arise spontaneously in the human species, but rather is inculcated––taught, sermonized, infused––by parents, teachers, coaches, political figures or other impassioned haters. Here are the still-relevant lyrics:

I think that some of this stuff, like an ear for language, even happens in the womb, through the abdominal wall.

Dementia Jo and I are from the same era, and as a Catholic, I was told by the nuns that every Jew then alive (circa 1950) was personally responsible for the crucifixion of Christ. When I expressed doubt about the theological soundness of that argument, (I was a smart aleck at age 11) I was told to shut up. I have to wonder if Dementia Jo bought the logic offered by the Good Sisters. and has acted accordingly. And perhaps Jo wasn't paying attention to the edict issued by Vatican II - that Jews were not personally responsible for the crucifixion of Christ.

Yes, our children can be and are taught to hate people of other races, religions and even political differences. It seemed as though we had come so far, but it has all been turned upside down in the last 10 years. Homeschooling and keeping kids off of social media seems drastic but may be our only hope for the future.

I have never been able to understand why Jews continue to support and heartily endorse the Democrat Communist Party. Democrat Communist Party anti-semetism is obvious and has been for a long time, yet Jewish donors and activists remain a consistant portion of a party seemingly dedicated to their destruction and the State of Israel. Did Jews buy stock in the company that manufactured showers and ovens? Don't know, but if they acted like today's Jews, they probably did. In some ways Jews can be the stupidest people on the planet. Albert Einsten gave us a wonderful world, but the Democrats in the House seem to look at Babi Yar for inspiration.

White House official and a staff member for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) have both tested positive for COVID-19 after attending the same reception last week, officials confirmed to Axios. Why it matters: While both individuals are vaccinated and mildly symptomatic, they illustrate how Americans inoculated against the coronavirus can still contract and, potentially, unknowingly transmit the virus — even at the highest levels of the nation's government. Get market news worthy of your time with Axios Markets. Subscribe for free. "We know that there will be breakthrough cases, but as this instance shows, cases in vaccinated individuals are typically mild," a White House official told Axios.

The assassination occurred around 1 a.m. when armed intruders, some of whom allegedly spoke Spanish, shot Moise in the head. Haitian President Jovenel Moise was shot dead by unidentified attackers in his private residence overnight in an "inhuman and barbaric act" and his wife was injured, Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph said on Wednesday. He said the police and army had the security situation under control but gunshots could be heard throughout the capital after the attack, which occurred amid a rising wave of politically linked violence in the impoverished Caribbean nation.

Six months after resigning as attorney general, William Barr recently re-entered the spotlight, reportedly telling friendly news correspondent Jonathan Karl that allegations of vote fraud during the 2020 election are bull. Now that civilian Bill Barr has jumped back into the political fray, it is time to take unflinching stock of the degraded Department of Justice (DOJ) and how it became even further corrupted during Barr's reign.

The U.S. military has conducted defensive precision airstrikes against three facilities near the Iraq-Syria border region Sunday evening. According to Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby, the facilities are used by several Iran-backed militia groups engaged in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks against U.S. personnel and facilities in Iraq, including Kata'ib Hezbollah (KH) and Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada (KSS). "As demonstrated by this evening's strikes, President Biden has been clear that he will act to protect U.S. personnel. Given the ongoing series of attacks by Iran-backed groups targeting U.S. interests in Iraq, the President directed further military action to disrupt and deter such attacks," Kirby added.

The atmosphere is changing fast for President Biden. Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-W.Va.) opposition to weakening the filibuster has thrown the president’s legislative agenda into flux. The COVID-19 vaccination push has hit serious resistance, meaning Biden could fail to meet a key benchmark for the first time. And the economic picture is mixed, with some weaker-than-expected employment data and new fears about inflation, even as jobs return and businesses reopen. It all marks an abrupt change from Biden’s first months in office, when he pushed through a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package,

Joe Manchin is sparking outright fury from liberals — with some Black Democrats invoking Jim Crow laws and Mitch McConnell as they blast the West Virginian's resistance to a sweeping elections bill. Manchin’s fellow Senate Democrats are being far more conciliatory. After all, the 50-vote Senate majority needs Manchin's vote to do just about anything. So not even its most progressive members seem to want to poke the bear.

The Biden administration's Justice Department filed court documents Monday that seek to defend former President Donald Trump in a defamation lawsuit. President Joe Biden criticized Trump on the campaign trail last year for using the department like his own "private law firm" in multiple instances, including in the case of E. Jean Carroll, who has accused Trump of sexually assaulting her in the mid-1990s. In September, Trump's Justice Department filed documents seeking to represent Trump against Carroll's claim in federal court

It happened that, as I was thinking about writing about my husband and me being canceled by our own children six months ago — we have been agonizing about not being able to talk to them or see our grandson for all that time — a thought popped into my mind: blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Weeks ago, while struggling with how to understand what has happened, I picked up a copy of Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. Then I looked at a book by David Horowitz entitled Barack Obama's Rules for Revolution: The Alinsky Model.

I don’t know what he expected to achieve by the exercise, but I’m pretty certain that what he accomplished represented a significant deviation from the plan. The piece framed Black Rifle Coffee as a “Starbucks for conservatives” and promoted the piece by saying that the company was trying to distance itself from some of its customers. Note that Black Rifle Coffee retweeted this tweet and that usually means that the tweet met with the approval of the person sending it:

President Biden argued that a massive influx of government spending bill will help fend off inflation, in a speech on the state of the economy at the White House on Monday. The White House has dubbed the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer plans to bring to the floor this week — and the $3.5 trillion budget resolution that Democrats plan to pass in the coming days without Republican support — the “Build Back Better” package. Biden said Monday that the two bills will help prevent, rather than exacerbate, runaway inflation.
