Bill Cosby is set to be released from prison after Pennsylvania’s highest court overturned his sexual assault conviction on Wednesday.Cosby, 83, had served more than two years of a three- to 10-year sentence at a state prison near Philadelphia. The state Supreme Court on Wednesday found that an agreement with a previous prosecutor prevented him from being charged for allegedly drugging and molesting Andrea Constand in 2004.The ruling bars any retrial in the case, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

The original charges were kinda sketchy anyway. Meets up with younger but legal age girl, razzle dazzles her with money, parties, drugs, and so on, she flies around the country with him voluntarily. Then he goes to jail for rape.
Was it sleazy carrying on in that way? Yes. Is that a felony? No.

He admitted to raping her. She wasn't the only woman he raped. He is guilty. But hey, he's black, so he gets out of jail free.

They let him out before his sentence was finished, because an error prevented him from being charged with even more? That sounds profoundly illogical. There's got to be something more than what's being reported.

Well he was just denied parole for not attending therapy. Okay so now he gets released at the same time Trump is visiting the border? Cosby's coverage filled into the Texas visit. Plus it's not that big a deal.
Now he'll be lionized.

Good. I never believed any of the women on this. They asked for drugs, and in the drug-fueled times in Hollywierd, they got what they asked for....drugs and consensual sex.
30 or 40 years later, they wanted MONEY.
I never thought he should have been arrested.

Cosby is a sleazy guy. Rich Hollyweird actor who used that money and power to use (mostly willing) young women for his pleasure. Sleazy -- yes. Illegal -- I just don't know.
However, I think it's funny how he was the darling of Hollyweird -- a "father figure" lauded and adored by the masses because of his "Cliff Huxtable" character. Everyone in Hollyweird knew what a sleazebag he was, but because he was a well-respected black father figure, nobody cared.
But then he made the huge mistake of saying that black men needed to be responsible. Bam, suddenly then the accusers came out of the woodwork, and he was thrown under the lie-beral bus!!! He got cancelled by the "woke" crowd. When you are riding the lie-beral wave, never go "off script". You will pay!!!!

This is all too convoluted for my tired brain this morning. Looks to me like he drugged and molested a lesbian....apparently desperation is a strong motivator. Weird. Never a fan, anyway.

Kind of surprised by this. Thought he was guilty. Sounds he was let go on a technicality. Had the impression at least one actress avoided being alone with him. That's not evidence, but where there is smoke there is fire, at least in this case.

This is going to be interesting. Will he decide to try to worm his way back into the arms of his old celebrity pals? Easy enough, I suppose. He can go to libraries and YMCAs to sit on little chairs and talk to the kiddies about CRT. He can go on RuPaul's show for a laugh. He can host local meet-ups to make posters with the LBGs and BLMs. He can auction off his old sweaters for AOC or Ilhan. So many possibilities...

This should be a victory for us over prosecutional over-reach. A prosecutor with political ambitions reneged on the original deal and eventually sent Crosby the prison.
This guy spent a lifetime probably drugging and raping women. But you still have to follow the legal system correctly or things like this happen.
As a Chicagoan I have to say that sending Cosby in jail in his 80s, is much like when the gangsters and politicians only go to jail in their 80s after a lifetime of crime.
It's a moot point.

Re #1, he drugged her. That is not “razzle dazzle”. That is against the law.
Drugging someone so that they cannot say “no” and subsequently having intercourse with them is rape. It is indeed a felony.
Has no one heard of the “date rape” drug rohypnol?
Know the facts and connect with support to help you address known or suspected substance use with your child.
Rohypnol is the brand name for a drug called flunitrazepam, which is a powerful sedative that depresses the central nervous system. Rohypnol is not legally available for prescription in the United States, but is legal in many countries worldwide for treatment of insomnia. It is a small white tablet that can be swallowed as a pill, dissolved in a drink, or snorted.
Also known as forget-me-pill, Mexican Valium and ruffies, among other slang terms, rohypnol is a “club drug,” which tends to be abused by teens and young adults at bars, nightclubs, concerts, and parties. It is frequently used in combination with alcohol and other drugs, and sometimes taken to enhance a heroin high, or to mellow or ease the experience of coming down from a cocaine or crack high. Used with alcohol, roofies produce disinhibition and amnesia.[2]
Rohypnol is also considered to be a “date rape” drug because it has been used to commit sexual assaults due to its ability to sedate and incapacitate unsuspecting victims, preventing them from resisting sexual assault.[1]

Agree with #11. He went off the reservation with his "C'mon people" speech and got the leftist knives out for him. Not that he isn't a sleazebag but there are plenty more in Hollywood who have done worse and Roman Polanski is lionized and walks free in luxury today. There is, however, a final judgement to be rendered at some point.

Jonathan Turley, on Fox just now (paraphrased), the victims lost their right to a fair trial because of “corners cut” by the prosecution and the judge.
These threads always flush out the misogynists…. “blame the women”… Cosby was known for this kind of bad conduct, but maybe those in some places didn’t get the memos?

I can't help thinking that the average schmo on the receiving end of some major prosecutorial misconduct, without the resources of a Bill Cosby, would still be sitting in prison.
I don't doubt he's guilty of this and a lot more, but when prosecutors pull crap like this it destroys what's left of the criminal justice system. Pretty certain that Cosby is a sleazoid, but it sounds like the prosecutors made a major reversible error and now he is going to walk because of it.

The fix was probably in and put in place from the beginning.
Prosecutors knew he was guilty as sin, but they couldn't have a famous, beloved entertainer like Cosby possibly die in prison.
So they set a little technical time bomb.
So, now he gets off on a technicality, and according to the ruling, can't be retried.
He'll probably fade into obscurity, with some cash squirreled away, like OJ.
But free as a bird.
Look at the bright side, when we die, we won't have to worry about going to Hell.
It will be filled up with lawyers.

It's all political. In PA we have judicial positions up for election. Anything for the black vote. However, their timing is off. No one will remember it in November. I will remind the women how they were screwed by our supreme justices.

It always angered me that the other rapist Bill (Clinton) has skated his entire life for the same crimes that Cosby went to prison for. Why is it that people believe the women in Cosby’s case but not Clinton’s?

Like Mike Tyson, Cosby may have been railroaded but both assaulted a ton of women that led to no charges.
They're both rapists and POS's.
