Nation-building effort unlikely

A Homeland Security-backed study has found that it’s unlikely Central American countries can boost their economies enough to stop people from trying to migrate to the U.S., undercutting President Biden’s plans to rely on nation-building to curb the border surge. Incomes rise tenfold—an incomparable lure—for migrants from the key Northern Triangle countries of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador by working in the U.S., according to the Borders, Trade and Immigration Institute. “The potential economic gain following migration from the Northern Triangle to the U.S. is enormous,” the institute concluded. “In the presence of a wage gap this large, even significant percentage changes

The US government has no intention of halting replacement migration, turning us into a nation of peasants with no native language or culture, consequent to having no border. We're going to be a brown nation, and we're going to like it.

Let's boost these Latin American economies by returning their "Dreamers", now well educated, steeped in democracy and clean government, bi-lingual in the universal language needed for business internationally, and fully active to demand and bring about "social justice" in their own native lands. It would be the greatest transfer of knowledge and skills ever, and wholly beneficial to all. What more can the United States do to help finally turn these poor countries around?

“Nation-building” is useless. Throwing OUR money at countries where corrupt governments have skimmed off the cream for centuries? Be serious. Joe Biden’s opening our country to the world did this.

The immigration crisis is just one giant human trafficking scheme. This has nothing to do with poverty in third world countries. People are being rounded up, and shipped here. Somebody else is paying the shipping fees because these people don't have the money for it. The cartels are the shippers, and the USA government is the receiver. Our government is hip deep in human trafficking. The people doing this should be in jail.

These countries are plagued with ingrained, multi-generational corruption at all levels of society. Sending more money to "fix" the problem will only go into the pockets of the powerful, not to those that need the assistance. To change the economic and social conditions of these countries, you would need to change the culture. Good luck with that!

Just make them all states. Saves everybody a long walk and it's hard for coyotes to smuggle people into a country they are already in.

And crime in the USA, and unemployment due to jobs stolen by illegals will increase, of course.

Nation building worked two times. Germany and Japan after WWII. Both countries have populations that work hard. Everywhere else nation building has been tried, it's failed. Just like socialism.

Build The Wall. Tall, strong, and without gaps. And deport all the illegals as you catch them. THAT'S the solution.

In the first public accounting of its kind in decades, an Associated Press investigation has found that at least 1,900 U.S. military firearms were lost or stolen during the 2010s, with some resurfacing in violent crimes. And that’s certainly an undercount. Government records covering the Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force show pistols, machine guns, shotguns and automatic assault rifles have vanished from armories, supply warehouses, Navy warships and elsewhere. These weapons of war disappeared because of security failures that, until now, have not been publicly reported, including sleeping troops and a surveillance system that didn’t record.(Snip) While AP’s focus was firearms, military explosives also

Southwest Airlines grounded flights across the country Tuesday for the second time in less than 24 hours, amid reports of nationwide computer issues. Air travelers took to Twitter by the thousands with reports of what airline staff reportedly told them was a computer system outage — hours after “intermittent performance issues” with a third-party weather app forced a similar group stop Monday night. “We are aware of system issues and are working quickly to resolve. We will share more info soon,” Southwest posted on its official Twitter account at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Airline operations resumed shortly before 4 p.m., Southwest said in a statement.

The FBI has warned that more QAnon conspiracy theorists may be driven to violence and even feel obligated to attack Democrats they believe to be members of a purported cabal of satanic child traffickers. The predictions appear in an unclassified, two-page threat assessment on QAnon prepared by the FBI and U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis that became public Monday. The assessment, dated June 4, said the involvement of QAnon adherents in the storming of the U.S. Capitol “will continue to act as a catalyst for some to begin accepting the legitimacy of violent action.”(Snip) QAnon originated in late 2017 and

Men and women alike are up in arms after it was revealed that a scene showing Batman performing oral sex was cut from the adult animated HBO Max series Harley Quinn—because, according to DC Entertainment executives, 'heroes don't do that.' Harley Quinn co-creator and executive producer Justin Halpern told Variety this week about the deleted scene, saying that it showed Batman 'going down on Catwoman'—but they were forced to nix the moment after DC told them they 'absolutely cannot do that' because it wasn't something that heroes do. This is the moment cops appear to do nothing amid a drive-by shooting in Atlanta as residents of the wealthy Buckhead area say it's a 'warzone' and demand to secede. The video, which was played on Tucker Carlson Tonight, shows people lining up near a dark-colored van that is parked on the side of the road when a white car passes by and shots ring out, with one going straight through the dark van, striking one of the passersby and sending people scrambling. A few seconds later, blue lights could be seen reflecting off the windshield of the black van, symbolizing police cars passing by

There is one big thing wrong with the American dream of owning one's own home: the price.
