The number of U.S. military assets that may need to be renamed as part of an effort to scrub Confederate names could reach into the hundreds, the retired admiral leading the renaming effort said Friday. “I think once we get down to looking at buildings and street names, this potentially could run into the hundreds,” retired Adm. Comments:

This is crazy. Many of these names have been used for over 100 years and are not viewed as a celebration of the Confederacy.

Having observed her career for many years, I can safely opine that Michelle Howard was the Navy's answer to Colin Powell. Nothing particularly stellar about her leadership or management skills but she was well-protected and guided up through the ranks from early on. Over the summer and fall, commissioners will visit the nine installations with Confederate names... Why? How will that possibly influence what are obviously foregone conclusions? And renaming the USS Antietam simply because some don't see the battle as a Union victory? This is insanity!

In Detroit, auto plants have for decades churned out trucks built with Motor City steel and fueled by gasoline. But this week’s rollout of the Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck offered a vision of the future in America’s automotive heartland: aluminum-clad pickups running off of electric powertrains with lithium batteries. (Snip) “There’s no EV pickup market at the moment, so we just don’t know how big it could be, or what consumer acceptance will be,” she said. Truck consumers are generally unwilling to switch to cars just to go electric, Krebs said. So pitching them on the Lightning not only

Four years after the Legislature boosted the gas tax in order to fix California’s crumbling roads and bridges, the state has spent billions and made some progress in repairs, but officials now say the funding is sufficient only to complete less than half of the work needed. The gas tax has been a political hot potato since it was passed in 2017, resulting in the recall of a Democratic state senator who voted for the legislation and an unsuccessful attempt by Republicans in 2018 to ask voters to repeal the higher charges. Now, with the gas tax set to increase

New York Attorney General Letitia James introduced a measure Friday that would tighten the rules governing the use of force by law enforcement. It would lower what her office calls the “exceedingly high standard for prosecuting police officers” who wrongly take excessive or lethal actions. The centerpiece of the legislation would change the use-of-force law “from one of simple necessity to one of absolute last resort, mandating that police officers only use force after all other alternatives have been exhausted,” James’ office said in a press release. From the beginning of COVID's outbreak in China, there's been a steady drumbeat of information saying the Chinese created COVID in a lab and, accidentally or on purpose, unleashed it on the world. The World Health Organization, the Democrats, the Deep State, and the tech tyrants managed to suppress that information in 2020, but it's roared back this year. Tucker Carlson put the pieces together in his opening monologue and, with help from Chinese scientist Li-Meng Yan, makes it plain that, even if China didn't deliberately release the virus, it turned it into a weapon of biological warfare by withholding information about it.
