California nightmare: How high taxes,
rampant crime, suffocating wokery, streets
littered with homeless addicts, and years of
liberal policies are blamed for ruining the
Golden State... as thousands of families flee
to Republican Texas and Florida

Scott Thatcher and his wife Angela were born in California and love the sun-kissed Golden State. But two months ago they sold their home, packed up their belongings and travelled 1,700 miles with their three sons to start a new life in Texas.Despite earning good salaries with secure jobs as a driver and a nurse, the family’s combined income of about $140,000 (£99,000) a year was not enough to prosper in their town of Modesto, about 90 minutes east of San Francisco.‘We were surviving but not thriving,’ said Scott, 35. ‘We were getting by but it felt like we would never really get ahead.’The pandemic was the final straw \
Florida has met our quota. Do not move here and bring your liberal politics.

The problem is that too many of these refugees from Communist tyranny bring their extreme leftist voting habits with them, unchanged.

Red states need to establish their own immigration program which includes a session with an immigration official who will enquire: 1) Why they are moving from a blue state to a red state, and 2) Do you have any idea why your blue state became so unlivable? The answer would determine approval or not as to becoming residents of the new state.

I was also born and raised in California (third generation native). The decline began a long time ago, when migration to the state increased and leftists overran (1980s?) and state government turned left. I relocated to East TN, a rural small town and love it. Conservative and fit right in!
I agree with those who move from leftist nightmares to more free states: DO NOT bring your California attitudes, demands and judgments here, you will not be welcome; you fled California for a reason: to get away from the trash life, so don't bring it to your new state.
PS: Isn't it interesting that northerners flee and relocate to the southern states. . .when the south has been so disparaged, defamed and demeaned, etc., for so long. . .now a refuge from the filth created by state governments and residents so long decried.

I live in Kentucky. We have dropped the mask mandate, although there are a few who still wear it. I was going to a store to buy some groceries and saw a car at an intersection with a woman at the wheel. She was all alone and wearing a mask. The car had California plates. I hope that woman relaxes and realizes that she will be all right here. And please, dear lady, please don't vote like you did back on the left coast.

This is the report card for democrat politicians over the years 'F' And the last of these politicians are the worst because they see what has developed over the years and fail to do anything about it. People say democrats ruin everything they touch....this proves it, again.

What a sad state of affairs our country is in because the left is so entrenched in their progressive anti-American policies that they have ruined a state as beautiful as California and they are working on other beautiful states bringing their garbage with them. Look at Colorado. All they have to do is move into the big cities and being to infiltrate the local government and before you know it, life as you have known and loved is changing right before your eyes. This is happening across the nation. The left is on the march. They are confident and driven and determined to have their way even when it is proven again and again that their way is destructive in every aspect.
They have birthed the great myth that they are the majority in the country and that theirs is the prevailing opinion. It is not. Americans are not stupid and they see clearly the path of destruction leftists leave in their wake. It is nothing but lawlessness, depravity and violence. No thanks. I do not socialize with them. I do not vote for their candidates and my lifestyle is not compatible with their open depravity. Give me a community that loves God and this country, is respectful to everyone, and just wants to live a life that reflects their values and who they are.
This summer I expect President Trump’s rallies will explode with people supporting his agenda because he represents the country that we know and love. Democrats will not be able to draw his numbers because reasonable people are fleeing their tyranny. As they bail from their failed states, I hope they will flee the Democrat’s failed agenda. It is going to get very interesting. Of course the left will be up to their old shenanigans, but I believe the numbers President Trump will draw will give them cause to worry.

Californians who move will not want to locate to a cold-weather state such as Minnesota, the Dakotas or Maine. They will tend toward warm sunny Florida and Texas. These Republican strongholds will turn purple, and then perhaps blue. Am I alone wondering if this is intentional? The rulers in Cali can spare a few hundred thousand, even a few million!, and liberals can neither reform nor assimilate.

I live in a state west of Texas in a very small place known for a few real Mexican Restaurants, grocery stores, dead oil industry and no work a Californian would stop to live here. We are eighty miles to the east border with Texas all those California license plates are not here in the dead of cold winter sightseeing on vacation they are headed east to Texas. Yes get ready Texas and Florida your nightmare is about ten years off by my prediction if the liberal locust land in your crop. I thought Californians liked Oregon and Washington but I guess those places are too much for them. I guess Mexico will get their land back without a whimper. Viva Mexico Norte? Ah Caramba!

Gawd, if I lived in Modesto I would have left years ago. I am a third generation, son 4th, GS 5th, Californian and will never leave my State or ever leave America because of politics. California has some great Conservative areas to live in that are the size of some eastern States. Red Bluff north is very Conservative. We live in an extremely Conservative County and love it. There are parts of Texas and Florida that are just as rotten as SF and LA. Life can be lousy or it can be great. It is up to you, wherever you live. Stay close to family and friends, and even closer to God, and life will be wonderful. Have a blessed day folks.

I had a running business gig every year in Modesto and got the impression that it was a pretty conservative area, so perhaps this couple will not bring the leftist plague with them. Also, a couple of years ago a young family from San Diego bought the house next door to us. When I asked why they left such a lovely place with its perfect climate they said, “Crime and taxes”. They just moved to East Tennessee due to a job transfer for the husband, but while they were here, they sent their oldest son to the local Christian school.
There is hope that the ones leaving the shiitehole states like CA, NY, NJ and IL are not the insane leftists, but conservatives escaping the asylums.

My daughter and SIL are moving to Florida as soon as they sell their house. They live in Everett Wa. a town about 30 miles north of Seattle. They are Conservative so all you Floridians don't need to worry. If it comes down to it, I'll move from Seattle to South Dakota. I figure it's so cold there, the illegals from South of the border won't want to live there.
Oh, for what it's worth, the couple planning on moving to Portland, the climate there is NOT the same as California, it's pretty much the same as Seattle. They might want to check it out before moving there.

Have no fear, Californians. Gruesome is going to fix everything once he is reelected. There's nothing wrong that trillions of taxpayer dollars can't fix.
Hopefully the people who left there for better pastures have learned their lesson from all the pain and won't carry the liberalism with them. I feel for Florida because those from New York and New Jersey are usually too far gone to be able to come to their senses.

Unfortunately, this situation will continue as long as big cities can influence the vote. Cities like SF, LA, New York should not be able to sway the vote of an entire state. New Jersey is a good example. It’s solidly Democrat for one reason, North Jersey, New York Democrats. We can’t out vote them and they control the rest of the state.

I have traveled to California for 27 years, (not the last 2 years) and watched the steady decline in quality of life. As a flight attendant told me on an LAX flight, she hates California layovers as most are self centered and oblivious. And everyone is replying is right, many "working" remotely out of the false fear narrative bring their ignorance (maybe stupidity) with them claiming idealism. All of you need to get conservative politically active if you hope to keep your state and municipality from turning into a shithole.

Western Washington is politically extremely liberal. Seattle has the same drug, homelessness, rioting, collapse of rule of law, schools closed for months more than elsewhere, and other problems as Los Angeles and San Francisco. Yet Eastern Washington is mostly conservative. The conservatives of Eastern Washington would dearly love for their portion of Washington State to be annexed into, and become part of Idaho, a solidly conservative state. It is unlikely ever to happen, but that is the wish.

We continue to see many cars bearing California, New York, and Illinois license plates traveling through Colorado. We got up a few conversations with them during our RV'ing travels. At the campgrounds were we spend time, the answer from them was the same - they wanted to get away from crime and a poisoned political and social culture. In all cases, these were younger families who wanted to shelter their children from the social cancer the dims created. These same families are here hunting for real estate. They are even buying RVs and camping at RV parks until they can get a house. Real estate prices in Colorado have gone through the roof. I just hope they aren't bringing the wrong politics with them.

I live in Colorado, and the number of friends, former coworkers, friends of friends etc. moving out of the state is staggering. Some friends came over Friday night and announced they were moving to Texas. Many of them cite the cost of housing and the political climate as their reasons. Unfortunately, they're being replaced by Californians who are driving up the cost of housing and voting in leftists as fast as they can. Denver is on the road to becoming just like Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles - homeless camps and vagrants. Californians have fouled their own nest, and now they're fouling another.

My goodness, what a hysterical article! Native Californians, we know of no one who has made a run for anywhere except one engineer who moved to Nevada several years ago. A neighbor, who won’t be really happy wherever he lives.
FWIW, I could never have lived in Modesto in the first place.
California is a very, very large state. These broad brush stroke articles talk about specific places in the state that are not representative of the entire state and its residents Many believe the entire state if like San Franciso or L.A. Wrong.
My favorite Ldotter comment from the past: “I’ve never been to California, but I know it wouldn’t like it."

Typical Daily Mail shock headline & story. Sure, LA, SF, and the other major cities (including Modesto) are basket cases of crime and social disease but in what state are they not? Please don't knock it until you've experienced it. Been living in rural San Diego County for 25+ years. Lots of room, friendly people, horses, vineyards, great weather, reasonable real estate prices (relatively speaking). 30 minutes to the beach, 2 hours to the slopes - sometimes, both in the same weekend. And while the 9.3% state income tax bracket I'm in is annoying it's mild compared to the corresponding 24% federal rate. Overall, not a bad way of life but still plan on retiring to the Jacksonville area in a few years. Jacksonville - isn't that where the guy just narrowly escaped an attempted carjacking by one of the local hooded feral creatures who underestimated the ability of a Tesla to accelerate from a standstill? Thought that kind of stuff only happened here in California.

A win-win system. Rich folks can buy up real estate in California cheaper if crime, riots, etc drive people away for a while, and they inject leftist voters into the states that aren't "voting correctly".

They will vote for the same garbage in Tennessee, Florida, Texas, wherever they go they will bring their idiocy. One engineer I spoke with from a top technology company saw no connection with Jerry Brown selling freeway right of ways during his first term with the freeway congestion of today. Get ready.
