Bicyclists killed in suspected DUI crash
on Pinellas Trail were Odessa couple

EAST LAKE — Janine Dorsey and Peter Yore logged lots of miles together on their tandem bike. The couple rode so often, they wore out one bicycle and recently bought another, a bright yellow Cannondale they called the Pineapple Express. Last month, Dorsey posted a photo of herself and Yore with the new bike on Facebook. A friend who commented urged her to “be safe out there.” “It’s a struggle for sure!” Dorsey replied. “We do on average 100 miles a week (literally wore the old Burley tandem out!) But mostly on all the fantastic trails.” The Odessa couple was riding Tuesday on one of those trails — a segment of the Pinellas Trail

Comments:

A busy criminal gets paroled in January, kills two in May, and will be going back for a longer stint next time. Although it's nice thought, making people care about others won't be accomplished by law or regulation. Be prepared. The world is full of fools.

I predict that there will be a lot more traffic deaths coming because of the "decriminalization" of most drugs.

Tampa and Pinellas have a history of pedestrians and cyclists being hit by motorists (DUI or otherwise). I was hit while walking in a crosswalk in Pinellas and the driver was sober. However, the trails are great!!!

I see people driving like that more often every year. Way over the prevailing speed and dodging cars and trucks as if they were orange cones in a parking lot. I know that they will cause a wreck soon enough. And I used to do 30+ miles twice a week on rural roads and now I only ride on bike paths far from any connection to highways. Twice in 20 years I was threatened with violence by a car driver for riding on the road, in a rural area, with nearly zero traffic, within 3 ft of the edge of the road. I watched on friend intentionally hit with a big truck mirror, and knocked into a ditch, of course the attacker never stopped. My friend was bruised and scraped but no broken bones and helmet saved his head. There are evil and stupid people out there, and I want a steel shell around me when dealing with them. I now only bike where they cannot get to me.

I get threatened at least once a year while biking, usually after the media has whipped up a mob. Tried both the city sidewalks and the bike paths. Attacked twice on the bike paths. Once by a gang of dogs, then by two pit bulls while the owner stood and watched. I had pepper spray and that put an end to that. As for vehicles, you worst danger comes from the side and back. When you cross a street, the right on red guy is going to run over you from the back. When you cross a side street, the person is not going to stop, but is going to save a half second and speed on through. Then there are the high schoolers who gather under the bridges for their marijuana meet ups on the bike trails. I inhaled that once. It takes a whole day to get it out of your lungs it is so powerful. All this does not include the normal hazards of biking. Rain, cold, hot, flat tires, breakdowns, glass in the streets, bird poop from overhead from telephone line takeoffs, Walmart shopping carts around the blind corner. And the aesthetics are not always that great, as the homeless trash accumulates under the bridges.

Sadly, the roads really are dangerous. Clueless and drunk drivers. Clueless bicyclists. Did alot of bicycle riding when I was a kid. Looking back I think I was lucky I never got hit. Or killed. Somebody jumped me once. I remember a number of busy roads with no shoulders. I remember cars passing me so close I could look inside them. I remember getting passed by trucks on roads with no shoulders. No fun. Didn't do any of those roads twice.

Florida is # 1 in pedestrian deaths. People who want pot legalized don't worry about the extended circumstances or the next level of drugs. Every parking lot in my beautiful little city has drug dealers. You are driving on the highway with drugged out individuals, you are working with them. They are people who come into your home to do repairs or work on your local theme park ride.

Last month, the faculty senate at Pennsylvania State University passed a resolution urging the school to erase certain words from its lexicon, due to the supposedly problematic legacy of the “typically male-centered world” out of which the terms grew. The resolution aims at gendered pronouns such as “he/him/his” and “she/her/hers,” but it also demonizes the four iconic terms for a person’s years in college (and, often, high school): “freshman,” “sophomore,” “junior,” and “senior.” “The University, as with most all academic institutions world-wide, has grown out of a typically male-centered world. As such, many terms in our lexicon carry a strong, male-centric,

More stations were out of gas in Florida, Maryland, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Mississippi early on May 13 compared to the night of May 12, according to GasBuddy. In Florida, 30 percent of 7,564 stations were out of fuel as of 6 a.m. Central Time. In Maryland, 34 percent of the state’s 1,869 stations could no longer serve customers. More than half of South Carolina’s 3,084 stations ran out of gas, along with 34 percent of Tennessee’s stations.

The latest employment numbers were set to be released, and economists were gushing that a million new jobs had likely been created in April by exuberant employers and their newly vaccinated workers. Yet this summer at the Tokyo Olympic Games, these two distinct categories may be blurred with transgender athletes competing, specifically transgender biologic males competing against biologic females. California Democrats are resorting to conspiracy theories about President Trump and the census, but these are the numbers they got after spending $187 million on outreach and after rigging the census to make sure illegal aliens would continue to participate. And those are far better numbers than California deserves. The decline and fall is not a surprising development out here where moving trucks are a frequent sight and everyone knows a family that is moving. I know three of them in under two years. Back then, you could count on the media to act as watchdogs for the American people, counted on to keep the political class in line. Sadly, that no longer appears to be the case. Instead now we see the mainstream media acting as a public relations arm for the Democratic Party, totally disinterested in anything which doesn’t fit a leftist political agenda. The Washington Post, the paper that brought down Nixon, is one of the biggest offenders in looking the other way. And what of the once-proud FBI?

The myth of the “moderate” Joe Biden stubbornly refuses to die — partially because the Democrats and the legacy media are working overtime to keep it breathing. From day one, Biden has aimed to erase his predecessor’s legacy, rejected Republican efforts to pass clean bills on COVID-19 and infrastructure, and inflamed the culture war on abortion, transgenderism, and race. He even called Georgia’s new election integrity bill “Jim Crow on steroids.” Yet, somehow, Democrats and the legacy media continue to twist the limits of deception by branding this firebrand a “moderate.” This weekend, a White House staffer confessed that this is a

House Republicans planted themselves firmly in the camp of Donald Trump on Wednesday when they removed Rep. Liz Cheney from their leadership team after her criticism of the former president. After a voice vote, Cheney said: ‘I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again, is anywhere near the Oval Office.’ Cheney had addressed Republicans in the room before the vote.
